Just so you know, you absolutely can edit the software of the joycons to show up as whatever color you want. It's a good way to spice up custom joy cons too

​@@BeatEmUps Went to post this same thing. The program is called Joy-Con tool kit. I used it to change my standard great joy cons to register as gold so I can distinguish them from friends gray ones. Also apparently you are supposed to be able to change the color of a pro controller's grips, but I couldn't get that to work.

I decided to collect all of the Game Boy Pocket variants and ran into the same problem. There were a lot that were made custom by other companies and released and often times people confuse them with an official release. Took a lot of research to figure out what was Nintendo made and which ones weren’t. I did get them all though. The rarest, I believe, is a pearl white/blue one with “Atlus” printed on the screen boarder. It’s Japanese release model that was given as a memorial gift to Atlus staff when the game Purikura Pocket came out. And some were given to Japanese celebrities. Best estimates are that fewer than 50 were made.

You know, I think I’ve come around on the collecting thing. I see why it’s important. It’s not only just to “have one of everything” - it’s legitimately history, and also art. Each of those not only represents a moment in history for Nintendo and the Switch, but they also represent many moments in history for YOU - doing all the work you had to do in order to get them, and then having to double check your work because people are crummy and rip others off - It’s really neat. Now you have a tangible piece of history to go with those pieces of memory. :) Great video Wood. One of my favorites from you.

Fragment design is a brand almost like supreme. They make their own stuff and have collaborations with other brands as well. They’re a pretty big name in the fashion scene based out of Japan. They’ve done a bunch of sneaker collaborations as well and have garnered a lot of attention from it. Congrats on finding the fragment switch!

genuinely celebrating so hard for you wood; seeing you improving and still pushing regardless of what gets thrown your way is inspiring to say the least. I can really see a difference in how much effort is put into your craft and seeing you pushing yourself for your content while staying within your own safe boundary -(in terms to not working way over the limit you can handle and hopefully avoiding mental stress)- is huge for anyone in general to consciously do, let alone someone like us having mental struggles that require more workarounds and adaption. you guys have so many people standing right behind you, screaming and rooting for you no matter the situation. You can in fact reprogram joy cons to come up with any color you want on the switch itself. A tool to do that exists because of shell swaps. The seller of the "fake" $300 joy cons has "custom" in the title which hints that they are not the real deal to me.

For informative purpose I'm going to say this: Fragment Design is a fashion brand founded by Hiroshi Fujiwara wich likes to collaborate with other brands/companies and do a minimalist designs on the products, thats why the only thing in the special Switch is small logos on joycons, thats what Fujiwara likes to do. Take in fact when he collaborate with Nike to make a shoe and only put a small logo of the thunderbolt. In 2019 Fujiwara collaborated with Pokemon and not only did this console, he also did make clothes and collaborated with Pokemon GO with a special hat Pikachu. This collab was so special but fun fact I did not know they made a special Switch

Seeing the amount of variations and styles of a console there is, just for the switch. It gave me the idea that surprised me. Why hasn’t a console company decided to allow individuals to pay more to make custom designs based on pre established art and colors. Like if you could pay 500 for a PlayStation, but then pay 550 or 600 to create a custom look on their site. With prints from their exclusive game library.

For reference, the screen protectors for switch are easier to use. Basically comes in a tray and you just drop the switch in it and then run your finger along the screen. I always had trouble with them but the trays make it so easy.

you can indeed change the programming to make them appear as a different color in the system. Ive done it myself to make my switch show my shellswapped black joycons as black and not yellow. However i have never seen shell replacements with correct markings on the back of the controllers which your splatoon pair seem to have. They look all good
