I bought the Mullet for our shop at school. Paired it with a shopvac with a cyclone dust collector. I attached it on my workbench in a relatively central location so I can use it over my miter saw and table saw as a supplement and attach a hose and use it on my sander, router and router table so far. Love it.

The mullet cyclone attached a ct 26 has been unbelievable. It’s saved me so much in bags and filters. I hooked it up to the camvac90L which is a high pressure system and it handled it without even thinking about buckling. The boom arm saved me 300+ not having to buy festools boom arm. It’s keeps my hose off the ground and is great for so many other things. I will be purchasing another one to separate from the cyclone for when I build my next assembly table. You can buy an attachment to fit a hose in the end and not just the dust hood. Awesome products and amazing customer service

I can’t say enough about the Mullet. I didn’t trust myself rigging one and wanted something good, a bit of a hit but what it’s saved me so far, has paid for itself and then some, I’m still on the bag that came with the CT26 after HEAVY use over the last 10 months or so. At this rate I won’t have to buy a replacement bag for 5 years. It’s really that good.

I got the Milescraft rail track adapter for circular saws and it is outstanding, very solid and mostly aluminum/metal. It has four points of contact around the saw base, has adjustment for tightening the rail, and also a setup jig so you can use it with multiple saws without recutting the zero clearance strip. I only wish I could get a guide rail square for it. Great bit of kit if you do not have the budget for a dedicated track saw.

Not sure if anyone else did not post this earlier, but the original circle tool is called "The Iris" and comes from a British company called Makerscabinet. The DFM squares are awesome. Scratch and dent may mean they have some sort of blemish or damage on them? Either way two squares for that price is a great deal. If you want a dust collection arm, then nip down to your local hardware store and buy a selection of small diameter drainpipes along with a few angle joints. Cut the pipes to suitable lengths, join them together with the angles and hey presto, you got a similar system for less than the cost of the petrol (gas) that you used to get there and back.

I'm a bit surprised you had not heard of DFM tools but they do make some very quality squares. For sure something to keep in mind when building the budget shop. They are not the cheapest square but they also aren't priced as high as wood peckers so you'd be getting a very very quality square at a "budget" price especially if you keep in the scratch and dent arena for those. I wonder if these would be re-ranked in the budget shop? Like the circle drawing jig I would put last for a budget shop simply because seems like a last thing would need/buy and all the other things would be first building a budget shop from ground 0. Be neat to have you re-rank them based on the budget shop at some point.

I used UHMW tape I bought on Amazon, attached to to the bottom of the blue plastic saw holder and it eliminated the wiggle you noticed. Shouldn't need to do that when you buy a product but I couldn't afford a real track saw at the time and that simple modification made a huge improvement in accuracy.

@chadvoller
@chadvoller 10 ай бұрын
The Kreg line of saw guides are just absolute trash. I have their Rip-Cut is just a flimsy piece of plastic. The two hold downs just bend when you try to attach it to a circular saw. I saw this Accu-Cut used pretty much the same system to hold down, which is just sad. A huge let down, so I won't be buying anything else from them if they don't take their engineering seriously. I picked up a crappy straight edge clamp from Harbor Freight that was half the price, but works far better. I'll replace that with a better quality one someday as it has its own issues.

I was wondering about that particular product too- the lip seems to be a godsend for placing the square, and the 45 degree feature would be super convenient. AND- he says it's not as easy to use as the Woodpeckers but I cannot for the life of me figure out why that would be the case. Looking at it I would assume it's exactly the same.

The Kreg and Milescraft systems are both budget tools, on the Milescraft tool you need to double check your clamps on the saw and well the Kreg, you need that antifriction tape to adjust for slop. Kreg is known for pocket hole jigs, so I'd expect something like this to need a little finessing.

I wonder if the tolerance was added to the model to account for plastic shrinkage but when it came to manufacturing, the plastic didn't shrink as expected and as the mold cast cost upwards of USD$5000 a time, they probably just left it instead of making a new mold.

I have a kreg accucut system. Its definitely sloppy out of the box. But a single strip of UHMW tape along the center channel on the underside of the sled eliminates all slop. The way to use that jigsaw jig, you’re just supposed to lock it in and focus your attention on the blade. And just try to keep the blade in the middle of the opening. The grip is just to help hold steady a little as you go. Watch the blade like you’d watch the pencil line if you didn’t have a jig. Even cheap ones work like butter if they’re able to lock tight. It’s all about pushing the jig like normal, just keeping the blade in the middle the best you can instead of following a pencil line. Once you do it right once, you’ll get it.

That small Kreg in-Accu-Cut costs about the same as a cheap tracksaw here in the UK (yeah the supplied blades are crap but to be expected). I have a cheapo Lidl supermarket ownbrand tracksaw with a decent blade fitted as my only track saw and it's pretty good, you can adjust the tolerance down to the rail at least. A batten some clamps with a circular saw would be more accurate than the Accu-Cut. Kreg have always seemed expensive for what you get at least by the time it makes the shores of old Blighty.
