Good concise review - Awesome Goggles - a Paradigm Shift in FPV. I tried SharkByte digital FPV 2 years ago, but the VRX failed: no preplacement available but I did get a refund. So big thumbs up to Mike at HobbyRC for that. I have bided my time and this week I finally secured a pair of the HDZero goggles in their amazing value Freestyle Bundle of Micro V2 Camera + 120mm MIPI cable + Freestyle VTX + Antenna + HDZero FPV Goggle. I already have the original SharkByte VTX and camera waiting in a 5" quad. And I will be adding another camera and VTX to the 3" AcroBrat quad that I am building. After that will be a Beta 85X HD (DJI) conversion to HDZero with their whoop board. The camera and VTX in the bundle will go into the Zohd Dart EXL. I am well on my way to a phased conversation from analogue to digital FPV - HDZero being the ONLY system that facilitates that route. I keenly await reviews of HDZero and compatible products.

Nice video! Do you notice that hdzero cameras always seem to get spots in the image? I never encountered this with analog or dji unless I physically damaged the lens. Kind of makes me wonder why dust gets into the hdzero cams so easily.

It seems to be more of a thing for RunCam cameras for both HDZero and Analog; so you’d have cleft it on the WASP.. The issue doesn’t present on Foxeer cameras.

Weight Wise how do they feel compared to the sky zones with the vrx attached. Is the difference significant

Yes, 12% lighter compated to Skyzone + VRX which makes a difference. But heavier than Skyzone on their own

I have had the same set of FatSharks for about four years and am finally shopping around for a set of digitals either used or new, I tend to fly micros and whoops much more than larger quads yet still enjoy wings from time to time. I was not really paying attention as all the manufacturers were putting out these digital options for us to choose from and find myself with a dizzying amount of options now. Would you suggest these as a good all around option? I am leaning towards HDZero or Walksnail because I want the smaller VTX options but am just now starting my research into all of these sets.

Does your Fatsharks have a HDMI port? I’d suggest trying both using the VRX modules to see which you like better before investing in the goggles. Walksnail seems to be the more supported system by manufacturers on a range of different sizes.

Someone on the divimath group said the optic dimensions are 15mm x 20mm. Does this seem accurate? For comparison the Skyzone 04X optic lens is 20mm in diameter.

The Skyzone's are native 4:3, while HD-Zero are 16:9. Let's assume the measurements you have are correct. 4:3 screen with a 20mm diameter would have dimensions of 16mm (w) x 12mm (h). While a 16:9 screen with dimensions of 20mm (w) x 15mm (h) would have a diameter of 25mm. The resolution of each screen is also different, the Skyzones are 1280x960 while HDZero are 1920x1080, so a 960p screen vs a 1080p screen.

That depends on your circumstances, how much do you fly HDZ versus analog? For me, having dedicated HDZ goggles where I don’t have to run a VRX, it’s absolutely worth it. But that’s a question only you can really answer as it depends on your own personal use and finances.

Recently someone told me these are a huge step up compared to the skyzone 04X with the added vrx module, which I own. How can a digital image be that much better on the HD zeros ? Is it not the same vrx and a digital image either way ??

They Skyzone Sky04X Goggles have 1280 X 960 screens while the HDZero Goggles have 1920 x 1080 screens. So you have a higher number of pixels at the same distance to your eyes which makes the image better.

Good vid. And I got on the Walksnail VTX $199 Pre-order as well so... yeah that combined with these goggles and ability to slap on analog too = one set of goggles for everything except DJI but I don't think anyone who flies DJI was ever interested in these anyway.

HDZero doesn’t request bad or missed packets, which increases the latency; instead the breakup is like analog, keeping the latency fixed.

@@DarrenAllatt yes I agree but I do not see the need for hd zero some of the new analog cams coming out are really good I use mostly sky star f7 pro 60 amp hd boards with speedy bee tx800 for analog that is it and crystal clear they have a few extra filters that keep the video super clean cinematic I use dji slow motion it's great that new vista falcon is the shit love that cam hardly any stutter

KZbin tends to mash HD-Zero DVR on the screen; but there is miles difference in resolution between HD-Zero and even a clear analog setup. Pixel count matters to be able to make out fine details

I would think boot time is effected by the cpu or the ram. I cant imagine it has a powerful cpu In a pair of goggles.

Old setup is 12 percent heavier, but the main thing is that the extra weight is hanging out far off your face. Leverage making it worst. Edit: did you try all 4 matched stubbys? Apparently it's the way to go, as odd as that seems.

Redo the 1 watt rest but please use two patches on one side and a tall omni and patch on the other. If you want a further explanation just DM me :)

Dji transmits on one of the right side antennas back to the vtx . A patch antenna might not transmit well . Hd zero looks similar .

@Gregory Dahl you🎴tube 567 M views hdzero does no retransmit. Instead it breaks up similar to analog but give you fixed and low latency

On the DJI V2 Goggles all 4 antennas are transceivers which means they transmit and receive. The goggles request missed packets. Patch antennas transmit just as well as they receive. There is no performance degradation when transmitting. As it was said. HDZero is one way, which means the goggles just receive and can’t request missed packets.
