already done, as is always the case on immediately opening! I came from nitro on my hyper st (still half brushless converted, just can't sort the drive train from wrecking the gears. Until i got into the smaller scale thanks to this chanel; (still have a sprint 2) I don't miss the glowplug saga, pulling the rip cord and it coming off in your hand. It was fun at the time but too messy and expensive. and carrying a huge bag around. Nitro back then (10-12 years ago) was 20 quid a contianer! Saying that electric come October is probably gonna be the same! Start it rich so you can see the exhaust clearly then lean it off a bit so just a bit shows as it exits the exhaust. Was a good rule of thumb for me anyway. (yours looked a little rich, but can't fault it's "go"!

The tuning is fine. The issue it has is the clutch is too loose and engages too fast causing it to the bog. Sort the clutch by tightening the springs and it will launch out the hole like an animal.

Any more nitro's you are on the lookout after ? I myself wouldn't mind getting hold of the original kyosho mad force or the twin force (og electric solid axle truck.) Or the thunder tiger EK4, wheelies for days out of both of these when tuned right. Mad force is a bit more fragile then the ek4 being a solid axle monster truck but still, love the look of Kyosho's 1:8th scale monster trucks too this day. Specially the new brushless usa-1 is a really nice looking truck.

She’s definitely running quite rich. You can slowly turn the fuel mixture screw in till it sounds more smooth, like it sounds in the higher rev range, all throughout the rev range. It’ll also get rid of that bog down low and really wake it up.

Be careful though! Those early Tamiya engines have a habit to seize when leaned-out, especially with high nitro contents ( everything above 23% )

Loved this video! Very nostalgic. I still have my TR 15T that I bought with my first job over the summer break and built from scratch, with my Nenita (grandma) watching my every step and keeping a good supply of snacks while I dedicated the rest of my holiday break to building this wonderful car. Definitely the best RC on the Channel if the best RC is the 1 that makes you smile the most 😉 awesome find and what a sweet looking and sounding truck so good it’s got me wanting to get my Thunder Tiger Sledgehammer S50 out the shed after sitting there 2 yrs since I bought it and only having 1 tank through it on a stand 🤦🏼‍♂️ it needed tuning when I bought it at the time I dint know it needed a Tanks putting through it before you can tune them. After the 1 Tank I had inadvertently smoked out the kitchen as it was all blowing in through the door so the misses put a stop to my tinkering at that point, I really need to get it out clean it and have another go at it before the weather changes again. Love the TR15-T ...👍 I've still got mine tucked away,had it from when I was 14 years old (I'm 43 now 😂) really need to get it out and use it again! Always remember how fast it was....felt like a wee rocket. I've also got a Team Losi XXX and a Schumacher Bosscat stored away with it....need to get them up and running again! 😎👍

yes definately a gem right there phil, i bought a TGX mk1 few years back now in almost prestine and i love it when i do actually take it out as its pretty much the same tires are hard and no grip but its awesome drifting around pouring out smoke and noise just love it , cheers for taking us back bro , 🙂

Man that thing's a beast!! I've never been into nitro stuff, but I really love that truck! Many years ago the club I raced at did a "demo" race day at the Exeter Race Course shortly before it was taken over by The Jockey Club. We laid out a nice big track for suitable for 1/8th and 1/10th on a mown grass area. And once we started racing I found that my Team Associated RC10T2, a brushed stadium truck just 2 years younger than the TR-15T, could keep up with the 1/8th buggies when I ran 7 cell battery packs! It's pretty similar too with it's dead flat handling and massive fun to drive!

one thing about nitro: air cooled....don't rip it doing donuts etc you can over heat it. It's always good to do some not full throttle straight runs to get air flowing over the cooling fins. They're pretty durable but you CAN over heat them. Oh yeah, it's better to be too rich than too lean.....too lean means not enough cooling or lube from the fuel and you can burn out the engine. You'll go faster but for a shorter amount of time. It's better to err on the side of caution and run it a tad rich.

In my opinion they are so much maintenance that it is hard to have "fun" with them. Maybe that is because I own a used one that has been neglected and abused by it's previous owners. And if you have an ez start, sell it and convert. Those are trashy systems. I always thought they were handy until mine broke yesterday. And it only broke the glow plug section. The hot exhaust pipe melted the wire. Why? Just why? I'm never using an ez start again and converting to pull start.

@@RACEABLE Yes for sure, but RC cars seems to be the only area where electric is actually better. Nitro is great for the realism, but is so much maintenance. Gas RC's are also at least less work and they are more realistic sounding, but slow and expensive. I still like nitros, but brushless is not only easier but also faster, easier to learn, not oily and are lighter and very convenient. Learning how to charge lipos is way easier than learning nitro maintenance. They are also more durable than nitros. In my opinion nitro is actually a decent beginner option because it develops your respect for the vehicle. With electrics it is tempting for a beginner to full send it on a jump before learning how to even drive it. I am not trying to say "never drive nitros," I am just giving examples on why electric is a much more practical choice. And don't be buying Traxxas fuel, it ruins glow plugs. Buy Bones Brew or Sidewinder.

I love a good retro, generally I modernise mine (without molesting) so I can keep all the original stuff mint. Ie I would personally pull the engine out and fill with oil (to preserve) and fit something else. Radio is a must, and any rare bits remove. Again keep the original shell and maybe bang a repro on it to bash. But hey that’s me! Lovely truck, gonna hunt the bay now!!!!!
