1hd-ft bottom end has a 1 piece ' girdle " style big end bearing cap making it extremely strong. Higher flow oil return etc capable of up to 400 ish hp reasonably safely. Put " free wheeling hubs ", part time 4wd kit on to reduce fuel consumption for general driving. Front lower control arm flips are popular for clearance and comfort. 1hz are very common in Australia regularly reaching 800,000km , some have hit the million k mark.

I got it released from Military so it s very manual for everything. I love it so simple and east to maintain.

Love it, I also became obsessed with Sooty! I’m in the UK with a 1991 triple locked, 5 speed manual 1HDT. Think there’s a misconception when it comes to the US market assuming everything before the later models were duds but here in the UK we got everything you could want right from the get go. Enjoy your travels Sir, look forward to watching. Good bless.

@andreasaristidou7156 The UK supplied me with both of my favorite vehicles! The UK embraced diesel, which i think is excellent and really gave you access to some great vehicles. US safety regulations kept some other vehicles out of the US as well, like my UK Spec Defender, but i was lucky enoughto spend a few years in the UK and bring these two back. Thanks for watching!

wow man very nice car, since you like nerdy landcruiser facts ill tell ya a few things. In austrralia when the 1hdft was released MOST of them came in auto very few in manual. even the ones that were ft were 4o the anniversary or Sahara vx like yours. There are many vx limited hdj81 in Australia and there are also a few vx limited ACTIVE VACATION. Man those are so cool look into them they come with fitted watertap, stove , bed so much and it was a shocker to me and this is for the 80 series jdm. Also the same goes with the 100 series 1hdfte jdm. just like 80 is called 81 the hdj100 jdm spec is called hdj101 so yea man its pretty cool I love these cars, I seen you like the ol 3l ln106, great cars and very reliable hiluxs and most of them get turboed in aus as they are useless without the turbos. Are you into 60 series 12ht saharas man those are so ahead of their time. HOPE to hear back from u

@tobywilliams86973 ай бұрын
quite simply, in australia, 1HD-T was produced for 5 years, 90,91,92,93,94 and then went to the 1HD-FT for 3 years 95,96,97 as I'm sure you're aware. So there are more 1HD-T's around. It's much more desirable for the 1HD-FT in Australia because for some reason it is much rarer to see one on the road. The 1HD-T already is sort after but the 1HD-FT fetches a greater premium.
@TheExpenditionForge3 ай бұрын
@@tobywilliams8697 Thanks! Good insight!
@Dadcandoit007Kevin3 ай бұрын
The 1HDFT and FTE 24v are more desirable here in Australia mainly just because they make more power stock hand with mods. As a 1HZ with a turbo owner, I keep an eye out for one but realistically it’s not worth the 15-20k + price needed to swap when my 1HZ goes well
@TheExpenditionForge3 ай бұрын
That makes sense. I'm pretty used to slow vehicles, so I wouldn't have been upset with a 1HZ either. I would like to take a trip to Oz and check out a 3L LN106 Hilux one day!

My Australian delivered landcruiser vin plate is FZJ80R.....R being Australian market, my Supra vin is MA71R.....facelift mk3 turbo Australian market delivered. The 80 series multi-valve turbo diesel (FTE) is the most regarded simply because it's the rarest most efficient and powerful diesel version available.....well done for getting hold of one, I love Sooty as well too 👍 honestly I adore the 1FZ-FE engine and the purchase price disparity for the turbo diesel is quite a lot, the non turbo diesel is tedium to the max so forget that. My vehicle has had an LPG installation so runs on that and petrol, the economy is reasonable on LPG and combined with the capacity between the two fuel tanks gives a good range, I'm happy with it, I need the power of the 1FZ-FE to tow my 2.4 ton caravan, a turbo would help though as she's not very fast ha ha 😂.

@@TheExpenditionForgedefinitely a good way to get into an 80 series, I'd love an FTE version as they are the best choice for remote off road touring.
