Just my 2¢ but if it's OEM or original equipment from the manufacturer and it works safely and correctly, I'd hold off on changing anything at least until thru the winter. See if you even like it before anything, even the curTains gets changed. I'd spray for bugs, probably throw another mattress on top of the other, disinfect the fresh holding tank but I'd keep EVERYTHING original until the beginning of next year but I'm sure you'll love it, you just don't want to ruin the resell value if for whatever reason you decide you don't want it. But 28yo classic, I think it's dope AF and really proud of you 🤟

Excellent purchase I bought a Bigfoot new in 2002 and just finally sold it in 2021 when I bought a Class A RV. Two suggestions make sure you put a rubber mat bed liner under the Camper to protect both the truck and your Bigfoot. Second add a set of Timbren SES bump stops to the rear suspension. It will make driving in high winds and off road both safe and easy. Still miss my Bigfoot...

It's beautiful all fiberglass no leaks, I love it and the inside is great. Please don't think that 1995 style is not cool 😎 because it's really coming back in so many ways. Honestly if I purchased a Bigfoot I would put a new mattress in it and really enjoy the great 90's look, but it's understandable that you want to make it your own. The 90's like your Bigfoot are built so much better than they are now. Congratulations 🎉 it's really fantastic purchase. Happy Trails🙏😎❤️👍

That's a huge upgrade (Bigfoot) over the ( Slumber Queen) inside and out, totally worth the money. Don't DIY the inside - that will destroy it's value to the next owner. It's worth money, upgrade it - don't personalize it; unless it's professionally done. 😎😎

I wouldn't be so hasty to tear everything out and rebuild. For future resale value I would restore the camper not redesign it and change all that made it hold it's value. I'm sure you could update the stove and refrigerator and get the new mattress and give it a deep clean and polish. This wouldn't be very time consuming so you could get back camping and fishing, doing all stuff for great content.👍
@staroceans86772 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you because I think it's not only too costly to do major renovations, but it's well designed and uses the space appropriately, so I too would just upgrade and maybe make some color variations. It's a solid design and Big Foot stands the test of time...so I concur. What he should do is develop the space around the wheel wells outside like he did before on his fishing poles and extra storage, but I think the interior is pretty bulletproof.

What a lovely camper. Twenty-seven years for fiberglass isn't old at all. My husband has fiberglass statues (life sized nativity figures) over 50 years old. You'd never know by looking at them. With a little care that camper will last many, many years. Enjoy!
@justjudy73202 жыл бұрын
There's nothing outdated about that camper if nothing else it's better made than the ones they would make nowadays. I'm not sure why you think you could come up with a better layout but I would have concerns that you would alter the stability of the fiberglass shell itself by ripping out cabinets and refrigerators. I would change out the bedding curtains and cloth cushions clean that sucker up and take off.

Hey, Jonathan.....What a great buy! My mate and I had a cab over camper back in the 70's. We named it La Tortuga (Spanish for "the turtle") Oh, the adventures we had....mostly good, plus a few harrowing experiences just to add to the memories. The interior was all gold and avacado green....the "in" colors for back in those days. We kept the decor simple and suitable. It was 91/2' long....plus had a neat bathroom with porta-potty, counter with sink, full length mirror on the inside of the door....all we ever needed! We camped for months in comfort. My opinion....keep it simple. You can do so much without a major renovation. By all means get rid of anything floral! I would use all solid colors of your choice...keep prints to a minimum. Subtle striped pillows as an accent....favorite framed prints for walls, if any. Consider hanging fabric wall decor in a more masculine theme! Maybe a mirror? Ah, that was fun; decorating your space....now I'll step back and eagerly watch what you do with it! I'm a new subby....I'm impressed with your videography. You have a really good eye. Are you a photographer?

Well, SUPER CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Jonathan, I think it's an ideal camper for you and I'm so glad you got another regular livable shell again. Bigfoot is an excellent brand and you're exactly right, fiberglass is the ONLY way to go and buying it in Canada, it rains as much or more than it does in Oregon. Glad you listened to your instinct and your subscribers, because I was one that also stated you should look for fiberglass and get away from the other constructs. As far as it's condition, it doesn't look bad at all. I would not change that much, just brighten and upgrade. The couch looks very comfortable, and has lots of seating area, the bed is spacious, so other than color variations, curtains, and a few things, I think you should do modest renovations because it's pretty well designed for the space. Surprisingly it's a lot more spacious looking and nicer than the Slumber Queen. I hope you have many, many, many, many years enjoying it . Looking forward to your adventures.

The space between the truck cab roof and camper is a good space for a solar panel on rail slide-out that can double as shade for the truck cab when in hot climates. The space in front of and behind the wheel wells can hold a flexible bag for fluid storage. Lots of space under the truck chassis. For people to remain satisfied with truck campers I think they need to utilize all space available, which means measurement in mm. Design is everything. Best of luck. I am designing a 16'ft over-cab all aluminum box truck for full-time off-grid living. I will be building it in 2-3 years.

So HAPPY for you! You're correct about having a fiberglass construction shell, yes, very good 👍. Casta pull behind trailer campers, Oliver campers, several make them in the trailer styles and they are prized fines on the retail markets. Oftentimes you'll see them with carpeted walls and ceilings for added insulation and for soundproofing... however it's not always great when you see that because fiberglass can be a condensation magnet so be aware of that when you're remodeling your new-to-you camper/home. There is a web based group for fiberglass campers only! They have annual meet-ups and something to check-out for great info. There is also a teardrop camper (really small one) that is currently made and it's a great one so there are RVING dealerships that can help on advice and parts resources to tap into for all your remodeling updates. Well then, can't wait to see what you have in store for your SWEET new camper/home! I know it'll be really 😎.

Congrats on your new rig Jonathan! I’ve got a suggestion for you. Instead of using a wood platform or rubber mat to create space between the camper and the truck, look into using a big piece of 2in thick foam board insulation. That’s what I’m using between my camper and truck. It has multiple benefits. The foam board will likely support the distributed weight, it’s super light weight, cheap and insulates your floor. I camp in mine down to -22f and I can attest to what a difference having that sheet of foam board makes on the floor. You can paint the end white to match your truck.

That’s awesome Jonathan Yentch! Hopefully manufacturers can begin building/making these kinds of truck bed campers again if they haven’t started already. These would be good to have if you don’t want to tow a camper behind your truck 🛻 and it would be better than a collapsible pop-up tent/rooftop/truck bed shelter! It’ll be interesting to see what you do to make this uniquely yours. Just be sure to check out the body especially the roof and around the a/c etc. and fix any soft spots in the fiberglass. Enjoy! Happy camping and be safe!

Cabinet doors look to be in pretty good shape. I wouldn't do much to it except change the fabric stuff maybe. Maybe paint the heater vent and stove hood. I guess you could paint the cabinets a grey or something but sometimes that can make it look way worse. Overall I think it's great and if there is ever a leak or crack you could probably fix it really good with some fiberglass cloth and resin. I guess working on it will make good content but I'd probably just enjoy it pretty much as is. I mean... I might install a 40" screen, a solar panel or two, an air conditioner, an instapot and a microwave, and maybe put an ebike in the hallway or on the sofa while not in use. Point is I'd work on function over looks. A fishing rod holder. Maybe a 10kwh battery bank to run AC all night. We spend so much on comfort and luxury items but we won't spend a few grand to stay cool all summer long for years. True, it may make you want to stay inside but at least you'll be able to sleep at night and not be all sticky hot and want to leave. For me climate control is priority one.

I think it looks pretty cool because I grew up in the 90s and it's very nostalgic for me but I mean yeah put in some new window treatments and maybe some new flooring and maybe paint the cabinets; but yeah you got a sick thing going there Jonathan I'm happy for you! 🇨🇦

Been watching since you've moved out of your apartment. It's nice to see you get your dream camper! You deserve it 👏

I'm a native Montanan who thinks Canadians are darn good, nice, helpful, friendly, honest people. (Except their PM). I like your new camper. Inside's not bad at all, but will of course be nicer after renovation. I do wonder how long you'll keep it, lol. You flip campers faster than anyone I ever knew of. I enjoy your channel, your personality, your adventures.

My first one was a 97 Northern Lite 8.6 for mid size pickups. Put it on a Dakota. Check with the owners whether they resealed the windows. They would need it by now. Also Eternabond tape for sealing the roof hatches is great. Enjoy!

Oh man bro! Niiice!!! So glad to see the new rig. You're absolutely right about the fiberglass and the market for those. You got a unicorn for sure. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Can't wait to see the innovations you get into with this in the future... Stay safe! 😎👍 (My TC is 91' rare Host Cascade top tier. The 90's had some old but gold ya know ✨️)
