I Bought My Wedding Dress From Teuta Matoshi…And I Have Some Regrets | STORYTIME

Hello new friends! My name is Yana, and I bought the most ethereal Teuta Matoshi gown for my wedding this past April. Unfortunately the gown did not turn out to be perfect on my big day, so I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is considering buying a Teuta Matoshi dress, or if you’re just curious :)

You told this story really well, I was on the edge of my seat, let me tell you. That sounds like such a frustrating alteration experience, idk how you kept so calm. I can't believe she hadn't started in the 2.5 weeks you dropped it off, then to call you at 1am! Crazy story.

Omg yes! I’m not even exaggerating. She told me she’d be at the shop after hours to keep working on projects, but the shop closed at like 6 so I was not expecting a call that late

That seamstress sounds like a nightmare. You still looked stunning though. I want to get married in a Teuta Matoshi as well but i feel I would need custom sizing since I'm plus sized with a VERY large chest. It's really hard to find pics and videos of anyone bigger than a size 6 wearing these dresses, so thank you for posting this!

Looking back do you think you would have wanted teuta to do the custom fittings instead? Im looking into one of her dresses for my wedding. It’s $1500 and i am a little heavy set in a size 16 so i would prefer custom measurements to at least know it will fit me vs a generic size that doesn’t fit me properly. Lol

I definitely wish I would’ve done that. I went to a few different dress shops and each time I got a slightly different measurement, but I think that still would’ve been better than what I went through lol. I hope your dress works out!

I’m considering ordering a Matoshi for my wedding . My main concern is quality . When I try on dresses at a bridal boutique , the dresses have built in boning and corsets that make you stand straight and they’re really good about being strapless yet staying in place because of that built in support . I hear the boning in matoshi dresses are fairly cheap and not super supportive which is disappointing at that price point . Would you agree?

I would agree unfortunately. The boning is something I never really considered in a dress until I tried on the Matoshi gown and I was shocked at how flimsy it was. It isn’t terrible, but it definitely doesn’t hug you like a real corset would, and I definitely didn’t feel supported. Perhaps adding clear shoulder straps for more support, or switching out the zipper with a ribbon corset backing could fix the problem if you really want a Matoshi dress, but at that price point I feel like paying for alterations can be a bit much

Why are they prioritizing prom dresses over your wedding gown that's shocking. Her car situation sucks but it doesn't mean you shouldn't have got your dress! My mother has altered things for me in less than a week. If they can't take clients, they shouldn't be taking clients. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Thank u! You know I was wondering the same thing about them prioritizing prom dresses over wedding dresses, but I was worried that I was just being too entitled. I guess it’s they have a “first come first serve” type of mentality 😅
