I have been using this PCIe adapter card for several months in my Jonsbo N3 along with an Intel Arc A380 LP GPU and two m.2 nvme drives, works really well allows you to use all 16 PCIe lanes if you have a GPU that only uses 8, such as A380 or RTX4060

I actually have that exact 8x4x4 pcie adapter in my itx unraid homeserver. As I use a nvme to sata adapter in the onboard m.2 slot, this lets me use 2 nvme ssd's and a 10G network adapter in the only slot on the motherboard! for the right purpose, it's perfect!!

Surprising video from you TBH :) but .. hey ... it was comic relief :) I wonder when insurance companies start monitoring people's purchases and void any insurance if you buy cheap crap from Aliexpress/Wish and even lately Amazon... those smoking hot speakers are no joke :( Frankly, even when buying quality brand name things I am always stressed when putting new stuff into my $$$ PCs. I would not dare to connect some of this stuff. A friend's colleague just burnt half his PC with a braided cable kit that was wired wrong. A pricey sim-rig setup. Half the components toast. :( Frankly, I also connected a Tesla p40 happily to the PCIE/GPU psu, which completely fits into what should have been a CPU connector. Luckily my PSU (thank you EVGA) saved a complete meltdown.

"Open and close" That's aperture, it's a good option for lenses/cameras to have. Wider aperture = more light, but less depth of field

Didn't know there was this variant of the PCI-E splitter card, thanks for the heads up. "This changes everything", in some setups. Bookmarked the USB extender too, currently I use a 10 or 15M extender cable (non-powered, but with a dongle on it), and the length is barely enough.

Can you test usb extender with cable longer then 10m because most usb cables dont work for more then 5m without some kind of amplifier and try maybe 2-4 usb devices simultaneously?

Now what I really want to know is if the PCIe x16 to 2x M.2 + x8 can be stacked, so you can connect 4xM.2 NVMe SSDs to an x16 slot. Together with a Mini-ITX board that already has 2x M.2 slots this would make a nice 6x NVMe disk NAS.

Might want to look into getting a Raspberry Pi and running OctoPrint on it. It'll solve the "run my printer in a different room" problem and offer a ton of other features on top of that, like webcam streaming, timelapses, and so on.

​@@TheAppleFreak I do have OctoPi running on most of my printers but right now I have an issue with network connectivity after a move due to location of printers. I do like a solid connection versus wifi. Plus, with something like this you could run OctoPrint in docker containers on a more reliable machine than a Pi, even plug in some low bit rate cameras too if needed.

I am sure there are other things I'm not considering as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my Pi boards, I just like having an easy to deploy setup where the configurations are easy to recover if needed. Now you have me thinking, I wonder how far Ansible would get me with config management.

@@bobclarke5913 because as far as I know most boards only do x4/x4/x4/x4 or x8/x8. Never seen one that would do x4/x4/x8. Plus if they could how would you ensure the right lanes are going to the right pins on the adapter.

@@computersales Now that's a darn good question I haven't answered yet, maybe there's a rule to how it's broken up? And if so at least 30% of vendors follow it. Only thing I'm using bifucation with atm is a PCIe NVME 4x4x4x4 card - which works fine in the slot when set to 4x4x8, except only three of the drives work, with one having extra lanes going unused. But it was cheap so it's fine. That's on a MSI MPG X570S btw.

I think it is a good video concept. But honestly need a little more effort on what works or doesn't. Like I get it's AliExpress and you'll probably trash it all, but we need a 'Hey it works' or 'Hey it doesn't' for our 15 minutes of time spent watching. We come to watch you be funny and weird and self doubty but stay for the results. For example, the USB camera - did you ever get it working on x86 machines or Apple only? It seemed like maybe you had the focus dialed close etc. The half height card - did the two drives work without the graphics card? Were you exceeding the power draw of the slot with the GPU plus two SSDs? Otherwise I'd watch more drunk aliexpress purchase videos.
