Use the handbrake on a hill start and let it go only when you feel the car pulling forward against the brake. I hate regular TT’s but never gave the roadster a second look until now! ❤

Of course, yes I was trying to practice hill starts without handbrake since we had a nice empty road! The roadster is a ton of fun :)

I have to admit, I'm currently in that same position rn. I've always wanted to learn to drive a stick, but every time I tried I didn't so well and wanted to just stick to auto cars. After watching this, I will admit that I am quite a bit inspired to try stick on either a TT or Miata. Thanks for the video, hope you enjoy the backroads!

I own one of these cars and I absolutely love it, congrats on the find! stage one eurodyne tune requires no additional hardware and boosts torque by 70 lbft, well worth the money.

For hill starts in a manual, if it's not that steep, you can keep your foot on the break until you feel the clutch "biting" then move your foot to the gas, and if it's much steeper, use the handbrake to hold the car, and same thing, once you start the car push against the handbreak, lower the handbreak. And you could practice clutch driving only to get the "feel" of the clutch in a parkinglot, most injected cars can get up to 3rd without any throttle input.

Love it. My last roadster shopping journey started in the early 2000s, and the TT was on the list. I ended up replacing my other car instead of getting a convertible, and didn't get a new convertible until much later. The other car from that era that I really liked but didn't have enough practicality for a roadtrip was the MR2 Spyder.

I love those seats. In high school I lusted after the slate grey with the baseball glove seat combo. Would still love one today but alas not too many options where I live. Good on you for going for it.

You should contact carvertical for some sponsorship. Sure the channel is pretty new, but it's obviously ready to go big fast, so it would be a good investment from them. Also do some collaborations with other youtubers to attract some new viewers. Content is great.

Ahhh great purchase!!! My dad has a same generation coupe that we've had for like 18 years or something.... I love the thing, learned to drive in it as well, took it on many joy rides - though the stock suspension rides high like a bus, it dives in the curves... Could never convince my dad to upgrade it haha. Amazing to see it get some love!

Normally I am not a fan of either the TT or really grey cars. But somehow, here two (subjective (everyone has different tastes and that is a good thing actually)) wrongs make a right, making this little roadster an aesthetically pleasing package, especially with this interior. Good on you for acquiring this, and happy to see you have some fun in it!

love seeing them around and im glad you found a nice example with the baseball seats. Ive been looking for a cheap manual for a 2nd car to accompany my model 3 and i never even considered TT or TTRS just was looking at vettes or z because im in texas where so Im interested to see the reliability aspect of a 20+ year old car.

Looks fun. That interior is 'interesting'. I could put up with most of it, but the wheel is where all the ideas come together and I'm not sure in a good way. I don't need one but now I want one. Even in England 😂
@rollingtroll2 ай бұрын
Do not go down back to first when driving at any kind of speed. It really does not want that. Please. Also give tour gearbox a little more time to synchronise between gears. It’ll thank you for it by not breaking. As for hill starts; that’s where you have a handbrake. Pretty little car! Love the colour, congrats!

I think it's funny that in Europe automatic transmission is still seen as either a luxury feature or even a boring way to drive. Although hybrid cars, which are having a great success here, are making automatics become more common.

Not bad, little cool car, in the hill start you can use the e- brake, you take off and then the rear starts to sink you release the hand brake... The noise is the alternator belt tensioner, mine does the same, i changed it like twice. And please do not press the clutch when cornering, you downshift before the corner and then you upshift, you only use the clutch to start moving and to change gears, nothing else

German hillstart Trick: use the handbrake, let the clutch go back until the revmeter is slightly going down, lose the handbreak and hit a little bit the gas. The car will go without any rolling back.

I think a Z3 would have been more fun to drive with a manual transmission. But the TT is pretty nice too. Just needs some attention with the interior 😅 Any Z3 would have needed some, I mean a lot of attention with everything in the front 😜

As an Italian guy, the fact that in the (majority of) US you're legally able to drive a car you actually have no idea how to drive really amazes me as I find it absurd. You successfully pass your driving license test and yet you're not prepared to a driving scenario (being forced to drive a manual car) that ok, I get it, in the US it's very very unlikely to happen, but it's absolutely likely to happen here in the EU as in most of other countries in the world. Funny enough you mentioned driving a Dacia Duster (I wonder if that happened to you while visiting Iceland, as it's a very common rental vehicle there thanks to its very robust 1.5 dci Renault engine) which has admittedly a very "meh" manual transmission. At the beginning of this year I went to buy one Duster 2023 and the seller was amazed to hear that I specifically wanted it automatic, as there was only one petrol version with automatic transmission and apparently close to none were buying that as everybody wants it dual fuel petrol/LPG or Diesel manual versions. I've even not been able to test drive my version before buying it as there wasn't a single one in all Italy available at moment of purchase that was equipped with an automatic transmission! As for a very nice little manual car you could try and having fun in, I really suggest you to search for a Mini Cooper S (or even John Cooper Works), especially first and second BMW generations. The Hatchback is still plenty fun to drive, but they also made it Cabrio, Coupé and Roadster! Keep on with this channel, is plenty fun to watch! Greetings from Italy :)

I actually daily drive a Mk1 TT coupe, most fun car I ever had. Its also amazing that even though its a very small car and I’m pretty exactly 2m tall I still fit in it. The older 1.8T like in the Mk1 are known to be quite reliable but I‘d recommend getting the timingbelt and waterpump done if you don’t know when it was done, they’re due every 100.000km / 5 years. Otherwise I can only congratulate you, its also a very desirable combination with the grey and the baseball seats.

I missed an Z3 with superb large tears (probably 250, 280) at about 9500 dollars. insurrance was ok with an not so high price. I phoned to him and he passed at 11500 dollars few days later! I didn't bought it. But even at this price, for an 250 ch motor, am I hesitating due some stoles, my new volkswagen at 26000 dollars too much injured. But I am thinking about it then if price was stabilized, maybe my mother will watch this new car😂. I had impression it was an up 300 ch. My neighborhood younger me had this Audi in 00'. Too late.

Sorry mate, I don't think you made a good one. With the squiking noise, the loose doorcard, the ripped seat, the pixel faults in the dash, the loose rubber on the upper door part and the not working radio cover you paid way too much. For a car buying video you gave us too few informations. What was the damage on the back? How is the state of the roof? How good are the tires? Which engine is it?... I owned more or less the same car (I think it's the 1.8 single turbo with 180 horse power, because of the single exhaust). I had the metallic green exteriour with the Baseball interiour. I had fun for a few weeks but then it started to ennoy me because after about 1.000 kilometers I realized it just drives like a powerful VW Golf. Because that's what it technically is...I sold it after one year of ownership. I think you should have gone for a Z3 6cylindre instead (have you ever driven one?). But hey, anyone is free to decide what he wants. So congrats anyway and all the best.
