When a vehicle sits the valves and rings may be rusted or stuck so compression may be low. Sometimes squirting some oil in the spark plug holes will help seal the rings and bring up compression. Cool little car!

@@StormsparkPegasus Stuck valves will cause no compression, but yes valves rings etc will all not be working as they were suppose two, Even with low compression you should be able to start the car if there is fuel and spark. I believe in this instance it is fuel related. Compression should build up and stabilize once the engine is running for a bit. Also I had injectors stuck on a car that stood for a long time. Out of the four only two worked but after a few minutes all came back to life.

i bought a 2001 Miata soft top convertible, from an elderly woman who bought it originally with her husband, who by them had been deceased for 10 years. She stored it every winter and drove it only in the summer and fall and it was in mint condition with only 15,000km (up here in Canada). It was this beautiful light blue/purple hew colour and I paid $10,000 dollars for it and then sold it 3 years later for the same amount.Would only sell it to someone who LOVED the car and would not drive it in the winter...pinky promise....I wonder today how the car is doing. You guys did an awesome job on this miata and that girl will just fall in love with it all over again. GUARANTEED !!

You should show removing the wheels and cleaning the inside of the rims and brakes. Also the intake vents and cabin air filter areas where critters like to nest. The areas that no other channels seem to show. I dont know if you have to keep your videos within a certain time frame but the more detail the better. Who ever repainted that car did an awesome job. The bottom of sections the doors and the rocker panels had an orange peel finish from the factory. Yes Mazda still makes the car. It is the most successful sports car in the history of cars. I currently own a 2023 MX-5. I'm currently rebuilding the engine in a 95 MX-5 that sat for many years. The coolant became rusty water and the engine block has to be boiled. Nice work guys!

One of the best features was being able to reach back and grab the top and pull it up and over and clip clip! You could do it at a stoplight at the first sign of rain. They had excellent handling and were very brisk performers. They really brought back the simple and fun aspects of motoring. Whoever painted that one did an excellent job.

What you have just spotted up in the sky (at the begining of the video) is a propeller airplane towing a glider. At a point when got high enough the glider disconnects from rope and continues flying independently. Rope brake point is usually arround 1500-2000ft or higher for safe return altitude. Once disconnected, glider starts climbing higher or just returns to airfield. Otherwise your videos are super cool! You guys are doing a great job on car cleaning and restauration. Congrats on the quality work you are doing! Julian.. from far Hungary 🙂

The OEM seven spoke "daisy" wheels are a very popular option on these first gen Miatas. You're mistaken about there not being affordable cars that are rear wheel drive. The Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ is rear wheel drive and in its second generation now. Affordable, four cylinder, rear wheel drive, and like the Miata, is also Japanese (no ragtop though, sorry). Checks all of those boxes. Jason Camissa recently did a video on these cars on the Hagerty channel and the video features the NA Miata's original creator too. Definitely worth watching.

I purchased a red Miata new in 1993. It was my only car for 9 years. I loved it! It was red with tan leather interior and tan convertible top. It looked really sharp. The 93 model was the last year of the 1.6 engine. In 94 they added steel beams inside the doors to meet safety regulations and upped the engine to a 1.8. You mentioned upgrading the stock wheels. Miata had a stock cast aluminum wheel that the higher models had, and that would look pretty sharp without having to go aftermarket.

I'm a mechanic. My first instinct was the issue is a timing issue. The engine is good, the car is worth investing in to repair it. Have a mobile mechanic or toll the vehicle to a shop to check engine light codes. Inspect timing related parts such as crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor and finally the actual timing and timing belt.

that would be a glider being towed by a plane with an engine to get gliders in the sky they have to be pulled up by another plane, theyre then released and glide for up to a few hours, its pretty fantastic. i had the honour of getting to ride in one, its pretty quiet and a pretty surreal experience

wow amazing job as always, i love that paint job as well! sadly it didn't started but it's good to see it all cleaned up and ready to be fixed. i would leave it stock, this car don't need any mods it's good as it is already ❤

My wife has a 1991 red Miata she bought brand new before we were married. We still have it. All stock except for a new top with a glass window. Like this couple, ours sat in our garage in Phoenix for several years, twice, without being ran as while we raised our 3 daughters. I used to say I wanted to put a handle on the trunk and use it as a double stroller. It still runs today and only has 119,000 miles on it. And yes, since it has been painted, no reason not to toss those stamped wheels and get some nice custom wheels. But keep the same size/profile. Also, what did you put on the top to help preserve it?

Fun little cars to drive they hug the roads. I would only put new paint on the wheels and fix the engine, keep it stock. Great job guys and have a great day

I love a Miata. Even at 6'2" the car just fits like they made it for me. Not super fast, but great fun. Since the car is already not stock, having had a colour change, I would move to a nice 15 inch alloy wheel. Nothing stupidly large, but a little dressier.

it is looking great again! though, i think i would do something about those wheels, either respray or replace them with better looking ones, ones that aren't tainted by rusty spots or whatever is still left on those old rims👍🏻👍🏻
