I hate modelers. They sound just like they are ___'a Recording'__ They have no feel and worst still no balz. I am saving for a Friedman IR-D tube pre. I can use it anywhere you would use a Modeler. Much better to have one first place sound then a choice of dozens of sounds that are second best. I am being generous.

I disagree. My direct set up has tonnes of feel and recording in to logic it sounds far better than I could ever get mic'ing an amp in my home studio. They're not for everyone of course but audibly they nail them sounds perfectly for a home recording or even pro studio set up. My rig is the best sounding I have ever had and I've had several high end amps. I don't get the air moving element but the benefits are far greater than the losses for my use case

I use to agree with you until two things happened. I wanted to play live in stereo without lugging 3 amps around and the second is when I bought a Fractal.

"First place sound" is subjective, and all of the top tier modelers are easily able to create sounds that rival an actual amp. There's a reason alot of big name touring bands went to using Quad Cortex and Fractal.
