In this video, I introduce my new car to the channel! A 2002 Audi A2 TDI 75.
Its not the best example... but did I get a good deal?
Maybe, before I broke it....
Like the content enough to hand over actual monies?

Love the Audi space frame, I nearly bought one of these a year ago. You can remap that diesel and get more power and response out of it. Diesel definitely the way to go over the petrol, should run and run. Important thing was to get one without body panel damage, that gets super expensive to repair. There is something about the used A2s though, in that trying to find one with an interior that doesn’t look like a murder scene is virtually impossible - so you’ve done okay.

These are selling like hot cakes at the moment,I saw this on Gumtree, remember the reg.Missed out on two recently then a 93k miles Tdi pops up on Gumtree 5 miles away.Thankfully bagged it within the hour for £1800-low mileage ones are hard to find.Good luck with yours, they are great cars, plenty of looks I am noticing!

It takes about five mins to drop the serpentine belt off and remove top alternator bolt. You can then pull the alternator forward as it pivots on the bottom bolt then access to thermostat housing is a doddle. Also timing belt access on the Diesel engine is superb. Stick with it mate, these cars get under your skin.

Still, only a grand. Bought a Golf IV in the rain and dark on the way home from work. Found a similar looking hood when it dried out in the morning. One of the few times I bought from an actual dealer and they repainted it after sheepishly inspecting it.

Very interesting I've looked at A2 for years Want something cheap and reliable with plenty life left found a 2003 with 49k on Body work few dents ect but leather interior immaculate Love it had trimming belt and service not cheap £500 on top of the £1650 we paid now confident I've got a car that will last with insurance less than £150 and tax £30 we all know how economical Go get one you won't be disappointed

Not a fan of that car. I do like the interior / exterior but Accessibility for Service/replacent parts is so frustrating to deal with. See you in the next one. 👍👍

A lot of it is shared with other VAG stuff and some bits are super easy. But then they make the thermostat so difficult to get to? Whyyyy! Haha

Great video Jason! How do you sort insurance when you’re changing cars a lot? Do you get price hikes when you change a car on a policy?

Tbh I’ve basically been just ringing my insurance and telling them. More recently I’ve used Admiral, because I can switch it online. Never had any issues…. Not that I know of….

You'll see this on the excellent owner's club website - but NEVER use anything other than genuine Audi thermostats (20 quid on ebay) and either genuine Audi or Bosch engine sensors of any description (40 quid for a temp sensor). I don't know why, but doing so will almost certainly mean the components in question won't work properly. I discovered the A2 2 years ago - like you I'd been aware of them / admired them from afar but basically had no experience with them. I've got a TDI 90 - they really are worth seeking out as the extra power over the standard TDi (75) really makes a difference, especially as the torque is lower down in the rev range. Top tip is to remap the engine (again, cheap via the owners club) and to fit a six speed gearbox from 5-10 year old 1.6 TDI CAYC engined car along with the beefed up starter - Doing this dramatically improves performance and refinement at speed as the engine is now doing 2000 RPM at the national motorway limit. Just discovered your channel - right up my street. Sub'd!

Yep, access to anything under the bonnet is hilarious. I’ve got a 1.4 petrol and I’m about to do the water pump/timing belt. On any other VAG car an hour’s job. On the A2, a weekend of swearing, fumbling and throwing things in rage…

Great effort and good commitment to sorting it yourself but where do you draw the line between spending half a day under the bonnet or paying for an hour's labour at your local indie VAG garage .For me, refitting a part blind that I'd never fitted before would nudge it firmly into "take it to a pro" territory 😀
