As the original owner of a ‘97 Valkyrie with 106,000 miles on it, I would tell you that it is one of the easiest motorcycle to ride: easy to shift, easy to balance, stops on the proverbial dime and absolutely reliable. I have three other bikes: two BMWs and a Triumph, but the Valkyrie is still my overall favorite to ride after 25 years. I am turning 70 in a few months, should start to downsize, but I will keep the Valk as long as I can maneuver it around the garage. BTW, it only goes as fast as one twists the throttle-3.6 seconds to 60MPH if so inclined.

I ride a 2000 750 ACE. I've owned it for 9 years. It had 13,100km on it when I bought it from the original owner. 1000 kms a year. I but that much on in my first year. Asshlay now sits at 146,000+ kms. I hate when people call a 750 a starter bike. She's been across Canada to the Pacific Ocean once. And to The east coast 3 times. Including Newfoundland twice! Loaded down with a ridiculous amount of gear. But I'm also 5ft7. To a taller rider it may seem small.

WTF Are you Houdini Bro Damn! How the hell did you Ride that bike across the Pacific Ocean 🏍️ 🌊 LOL 😂. That was to easy brother but on a real note my Dude I'm with you. I'm so sick & tired of hearing people talk & say a 750 is a great beginners Motorcycle 🏍️ to start before moving up. They mess with people's heads that are getting in who if they ain't real Men leader's instead of followers they think 🤔 they have to buy a certain kinda bike 🏍️ especially a Harley or it has to be at least a 1200 & up or anything else is for a Chick. That's such Bullshit & only Jackass's who think 🤔 a number on a bike that you really don't need or use except to in most every case Kill yourself which is what you see with every Kid & young gun 🔫 in these Crotch-Rockets 🚀🏍️ which I hate & just last Week another young kid 17 Dead on one a buddy of my nephew's which is about 7 in 3 year's of his friends that have all Died on Crotch-Rockets 🚀🏍️. You buy & ride you like what you feel good on & every Rider knows when your 🏍️ shopping the right one calls your name & when you sit on it you just know Damn this is it I found her. It happened to me as I bought my First Motorcycle 🏍️ 16 years ago & I was shopping for Harley Davidson. And I ended buying as my first Motorcycle 🏍️ "1980 Honda CB 900 Custom" & now they are going for some great money Collector's are all over those year's. And the think had massive power & I also rode a 2010 Harley Davidson Softail 1200 & rolling with a 1996 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic. And I'm debating on buying a Honda Shadow that I almost bought as my first Motorcycle 🏍️ back than or a Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883 that's a little more powerful than this. And I'm a big Dude & I love Cruisers & I Harley wise just always loved the Sportster it's a Classic going back to old School & it pissed me 📴 with these 🤡 that I read Harley Rider's hate Sportster as if they run the show the spoken committee. And try to put into people's heads that this bike 🏍️ or that one is for a Woman these people are self conscience of themselves and can't pull it off so they don't want anybody else to pull it off cuz they want to be that other person that's what it is. So I've ride 1200-1500 to 900 & I never reached the limits on the 1500 or 1200 cuz I wasn't a dip shit & all that way extra power is speed you ain't gonna use & the bigger boys are one if you are gonna be traveling around the world cross Country trips with your Wife or Girl. If you know your not gonna do any of that than buying a $10,000 Motorcycle 🏍️ 1200CC & up to ride around your Town or City 🏙️ makes No sense. Yo each their own. Remember people the salesman don't ever tell you the truth they are gonna try to sell you any bike possible they don't give a shit if it's your first one & it's a 1500 hundred trust me I know. I got my permit bought my 🏍️ on the same day & taught myself how to ride & never took a class in my life almost 20 years ago.

Valkyries are great bikes. I have a 1997 red and white original paint with 53,000 miles in cherry condition . It’s worth a lot to me but I believe today I could probably only get $3500-$4000 for it if I decided to sell, but that isn’t going to happen because I love this bike so much. I currently have 5, a 2012 Goldwing, a 2018 Kawasaki Z900RS, a 2008 Suzuki B King, and a 2007 Honda 919. One for every mood I happen to be in. The Valkyrie will be the last to go, I’m 71. Never sell your Valkyrie, BIG MISTAKE. Just learn how to ride it, it isn’t that hard!!

I have a 97 and I have an attic rat performance version 1 and I wish I had room to have a few more I love these bikes and I hate to see them just being neglected and falling apart. I'm down to four bikes in addition to the two Valkyries and then GL 1800 Goldwing and the Shadow 750 I had a 109 Boulevard pushing about 130 horsepower but I sold it because of my shoulder was starting to go bad and I needed replacement surgery. But yep never sell these bikes till you just can't ride. I know one guy that's got over 700,000 miles on one of these and it's all still original but of course brakes oil air filter and somewhere on the line you got to replace the rubber Parts in the fuel system in carburetors but other than that his bike is still original from the factory. Enjoy your vote brother

This is the work you can expect to perform on a cheap bike. Tires plus mounting. Brake pads and fluid flush. Grease bearings. Carb cleaning and possible rebuilding. Gaskets, jets. Possible carb isolators. Fuel filter and pump. Clean or replace the fuel tank. Fuel lines. Cable lubricating and adjusting. Air filter. Plugs. Oil and filter change. Adding acce$$orie$ Chain replacement or adjusting. Coolant flush and replacement if applicable. Cleaning and polishing. Like a Ferrari, there is no such thing as a cheap motorcycle. With that said, a lot of riders have no mechanical skills at all and panic when it doesn't run and sell them cheap. Could end up being a $40 part.

@Hndsmstrngr12 жыл бұрын
I would have bought the valkyrie in a heartbeat. I have 2 already.. Wait til you find out the carbs are gummed up and dry rot is affecting the fuel system rubber components. That's gonna run you$900 to get some right. There are a couple of guys in the Valk community that know what they are doing. Dealership will turn you away because it's over 10 years old. Most dudes that mess with these 6 carb bikes screw up the carb job. Then when was the rear end last serviced? Every 10000 miles you have to pull the drive line off, inspect the u joint, propeller, shaft, and pinion cup and relubricate. Then you pull the wheel of the differential and replace the 3 O rings( hope you find the secret hidden 3rd one), most likely the dampers in the hub as they wear out right regularly, then check the thrust washer and relubricate drive flange with 2 of the o rings you put in with moly paste, not grease, find the hidden#3 replace it. Then the fun begins. There is a specific order in putting the components back in the bike Screw that up and you buy a new drive line. fixed and clean no other issues that bike will fetch around $4500. Still a little meat on the bone. Oh the moisture on the plug? What an idiot. There is a weep hole at the base of the plug insert. They can get clogged with dirt that gets on there. No big deal, clean it out with a small wire. Coolant leak? Sometimes I know the winner the tube that goes to the top of the engine block will contract and it will leak a little bit until it warms up . Generally these bikes don't ever leak any liquids ever from anywhere except for as the water pump starts going out it'll begin to weep down there and you can't just put new seals in it you got to buy a whole new water pump and 200 plus dollars at a discount OEM Supply. Why you're in there well it's just good to run a bunch of distilled water through and get all the coolant crud out of the system put it all back together get some proper antifreeze for aluminum engines with no silicates and refill the cooling system but if you don't do it right you'll have a bunch of air trapped in it and it'll tend to run hot. But get all that done you'll have a nice bike I know people with 300 to $700,000 miles on these things but they always take care of them and they never get into the condition that one's in. Too bad the guy fucked up the head cuz like you said he didn't say what it was what with but those fuckers don't leak if anything there'd be oil underneath it and these bikes are known for never dripping oil ever. So good luck with the project just thought I'd let you in for what you really in for I love these bikes I would like to have more of them they're fun to work on fairly easy if you got the tools and the knowledge. But unfortunately as time goes on NOS OEM parts are starting to get scarce and then well you got to hope you can find a used part to just isn't too used. The shadow is a pretty good score. I have that bike too. Good luck

Yeah I gave him the rundown on what you expect to find in a 20-year-old Valkyrie that's just been sitting for most of its life and what the real sale value is. He said something about a $7,000 bike I'm still laughing my ass off. If he doesn't need a total carb rebuild and the rear ends been service correctly and there's no issues there it'll be a good deal but if you got to do rear end service and get the carbs done and and if the Driveline we're in needs any replacement parts he's looking close to about $2,000 and that's him doing all the work but the cards and then the bike like you say is worth maybe $4,500 bucks we'll see how it goes maybe it's a year old video and I don't see a part two anywhere
