Because the teams making ships has gotten more experience, and newer ships are more in line with how the game and engine works today. Older ships need reworks, and reworks are not priority number 1.

I never thought about the 890 as a usable ship but since CIG has nerfed the top hangar door on the Carack you can not park ships on top now. Watching you go through the pain of loading and exploding ships I feel your pain. Loved the video.

I was so disappointed when found out that it’s now impossible to park ships on top of the Carrack hangar door. It used to be one of the most satisfying things to do, landing 3-4 snubs there while having a reserve pisces parked inside the hangar.

Yes I took the Carrack for a test by Pyro jump and that is when I noticed I could not land the on the hangar top door . There was a small article someone linked me from Spectrum stating CIG change. That really hampers the use of the Carack.@@metalmeltdown31

Congrats on the 890! I have no idea why CIG haven’t given us remote access to our ships. Should be able to pull up the MobiGlass or something to un/lock open/close hatches, summon/dismiss elevators, turn exterior lights on/off, maybe power the ship and some of its systems on/off. Maybe have this feature available when in a certain range of your vehicles. Can’t be that hard to implement.

I have spent literally the last 3 days trying to load the 890 full of snub fighters to use as a carrier and encountered all your same problems. I ended up using the character repair tool and ended up back at my starting city needing to claim the 890. Not a single time have i been able to successfully store and then call the 890. Hours of time spend loading ships, crates, and gear just for it to fail. Soul crushing.

The 890 has a tablet attached to the hangar. When the hangar floor is in the up position, you can use the tablet to lower it

I've owned the 890 since the 2nd time in came up for sale which is several years ago now. We fly it regularly for RP as well as crewing with 3 turrets to do the mission that causes the Idris to spawn, get 5 CS and take on all takers without the issues you faced. If you were testing while freefly was going we all know that's not the best performance regardless of the ship. Hope you grow to like it since you melted a fleet and it will take time via buybacks to revert to your former fleet. Good luck!

Claim workaround - if it's a pledge ship, you can name it. Naming and renaming create an entirely new ship. This wipes all its components as well but a new ship is available to "deliver" at asop. So doesn't fix your old ship, but rather wipes it and gives you a new one. This is the case for all ships you get to name in your account. Also when landed on the top deck you can run along to your side doors.

@@DedLeader The 890 is my daily flyer. 3.21.1 introduced a lot of new bugs to the game. If you bedlog with another ship on your ship, any ship, you will get stuck at 28K entities (currently). Also, the front hangar seems to have lost it's gravity, my ships do what your did. what works is to be in the smaller ship when landing it. Also, don't put the elevator up, just open the hangar doors. Lots of bugs are popping up with this build. Hopefully, they will get it squared away soon (ISH).

I'm always buying one 890 in-game after patching, but I never had your kind of trouble. One more reason don't buy ships from the store. Also, a small piece of advice, you can just open the door of the first hangar and park your ships right inside, it should prevent them from blowing up.

Had an 890, the issues were: 1) You would use about 25% of your hydrogen fuel to leave atmosphere, your hydrogen fuel would also burn away whilst in quantum 2) Scooping hydrogen would take hours to replenish 3) The fountain looks aweful, doesnt look like water atall, just a flat screen 4) When on microtech, a gale force wind goes runs through the 890 making the plants look like in a tropical storm, and you die of cold if get into the pool in your shorts. 5) No cargo space 6) Ships could land on ship and glitch in or fly into your windscreen and glitch in. 7) No way of making money to replenish the hydrogen fuel that dissapears in no time. 8) With only one system nothing to do in an 890. 9) Why get an 890 when a 600i can take just as many passengers 10) Would like to be able to lock cabin door so you cant get shot in back of head by a passnger

So i did some testing and as it turns out, if you try specifically to store the 890 with any other vehickle on, the terminal will attempt to store the ship for a solid 10 to 15 minutes. During this time the ship will disappear as if it is stored however you wont be able to claim or call it from the asop terminal. Most cases the ivon wasnt even there. After 10 to 15 minutes, the 890 will on its own reappear in the hanger or on the docking port in the state you attempted to store it in, reguardless of where you are on that server or even if you have another ship in the hangar. Unfortunatly the only work around is to hope that the 890 reappears as someone else is using or is about to use the hangar, which will cause the 890 to get inpounded. This is the only way to be able to "safely" store the ship and have its state saved. Side note, logging off on the 890 while it has a ship on will no matter what cause you to encouter an infinite loading screen bug when attemtpting to log back in which, short of trying over and over for 3 days, i fixed by using the character repair tool. Hopfully this long winded post was helpful or informative to someone.

I was thinking about CCU'ing a few times, but saw Steam is having an sale and got a few actual working games. SC is fun to support, but ship prices are out of hand for what the game offers. CCU for a bigger ship or Red Dead Red 2? Not really an hard decision. I like SC, but free fly events are not the time to play.

This ship is great for respawning with multiple ships and ground vehicles inside at your disposal with its tier three medical bed. The most durable ship in the verse i believe making it great for bunker missions which go figure dont work. Cant wait for the day that this game actually functions properly.

While not all of its components are capital, the reclaimer is considered a capital ship due to its capital power plant and while not every part of it is the existence of a singular capital component on the ship does make it fall in line into the capital ship category.

In all fairness, the 890 can be really hit or miss, but I have used it for over a week IRL with bed logging and 6 other vehicles on board. When loading, it really is best to do 1 ship at a time. Its kinda slow, but the vehicle and ship hangers have room on the sides you can tuck spare vehicles into. Keeping the elevator 1 vehicle at a time seems to avoid all those teleporty bugs. I've also not had issues with bed logging, but I always turn the engines off when doing so. I at least haven't had any issues by just being patient and careful like that. It helps when its not a free fly too, the server needs some spare FPS to handle you 7 vehicle entity cruising around lol.

The one design flaw i'd say that would bother me being on that ship is the armor pods and weapons racks being on seperate sides I think think they should have two sets of each on each side, because say your ship is being attacked or destroyed you'll have to run around to the other side to get the other equipment by which time it might be too late you need a gun a suit especially if your going out enemies might have boarded and cut you off from the armor or the weapons specifically and if your missing either it's not gonna be good, or worse that section of the ship might be on fire (which they'll be adding later) or it might be gone, it goes with the old saying don't put all your eggs in one basket! Maybe you could fit the Nox inside the Pisces and lift it up to the platform and just keep it in the Pisces while it's up in the hangar and then the Mirai would probably fit inside the land vehicle elevator tbh! height for take-off isn't an issue as long as you limit your movement speed a sec while you get out from under the ship I've seen a fighter group using a Caterpillar as an aircraft carrier for Mirai snubs using the side cargo hangars and launching out full speed with proper radio style call outs like a real military operations I think they do bounties, so I know it's highly likely it should be possible to fit at least 1 Mirai facing sideways in front of that tank on that elevator weather the elevator bugs out with the Mirai is another story!!

I know someone who's been dealing with this for 3 patches now? You can bedlog, but only so long as you have no other ships on board. It will come good, but it's just not time yet. A big part of the ship relates to NPCs, and that stuff is still being worked on quite heavily. Don't expect this ship to be updated until after we get some ground level NPC-Player cooperation working, some basic level transport working with the E1. Once we have that, they will go back to the 890, to update it so you can use it for a higher tier of executive NPC transport. It might still be longer however before all it's amenities truly function though.

Having just bought the 890 in game. I'm surprised the store bought one is exactly the same. I thought those could b customized on the store like the 300i ships. Overall I like the 890 and have swapped the turrets to repeaters in prep for pyro. As we cannot change anything else nor missiles. Wish I could get it in black paint. Zero store skins...

Sorry you spend your store credit for it. I owned it in game a few times before and we tested the hell out of it and we were not impressed with the amount of issues it had (and still has obviously). The ship looks great (in & out) and is a friggin tank but that's it. I didn't care spending 1 to 2 hours to set everything up just to have them clip through the elevator ramp or eventually exploding in the cargo. Sadly, considering all the NEW concept ships (45+) already on the backlog, I believe it will take a very long time before they get back to fixing all the older ships. In a CIG video John Crewe himself while replying to Jared's question said that "IF" he had the staff required it would still take about 10 to 11 years to complete the ship backlog. So how long will it take to see some ships like the Endeavor in game? Your guess is as good as mine. Great video.

The 890 Jump annoyed the crap out of me! Had it for Years, till they nerfed the advertised planetary sight seeing, i.e. its ability to cruise at low altitude planet side. I bought it at the concept sale for $660 and had it for a few years. sold it for over 2K But pathing through the ship was lengthy and annoying as hell. The areas that were supposed to be practical weren't. And the rest of it was filled with role-playing geometry with no function. Years passed, the promised exploration suite seemed ever less likely to materialize. Despite the weird interior, the 600i is much easier and convenient to get around. Quite possibly, the most workable ship size is right around 600i and Galaxy. And anything that can be done better in smaller ships is a boon (Apollo)

Wow you had so many bugs... last time friends and I ran the 890, it wasn't that bad... only bug was the hanger door shows as black and was closed. That's what happened to you. Have to open the door and raise pad then, land ships lower pad and close door. Best results. Its silly to see the elevator issue too. So long a bug.

Cool, but I think they need to make more small to medium "Space RV" ships that are smaller and built for 2 players. The Avenger Titan is close, but that's a 1 person ship, and the Cutlass is more military than "RV"

Hornet needs to be the if I get guns on for x amount of time, kaboom, ship. The Sabre needs to be the agile ninja that's hard to track. Currently the Hornet has close to 100% of its intended attributes, and some, the Sabre has at best only 30%. Until radar is fleshed out, the Sabre will never be what was intended.

The hangar / elevator issue is THE SAME issue that affects Corsair wings being deployed when you're not looking / on 30k recovery, etc. Nothing keeps it's status if you're not witnessing it with your eyes 100% of the time. If you turn around, the status of the door or wing or whatever reverts. I got rid of my Corsair after dealing with that almost every damn day. EDIT: Since I saw you had a Hawk too, if you've ever spawned it and the gear was up / bouncing in a hangar... same problem as above.

There are "kinda" work arounds for most of your issues. Also bed logging on empty ship to test it out. 890 Jump is older ship so I would not do it if you didn't have to.

Well, I think it's fairly straight forward. CIG funds development through new ship sales. New ships get new players interested, and existing players interested again after taking time away. Reworking old ships doesn't increase sales, and so leads to no funding of their budget for continued development. It's a shitty model, yes, because there's a lot of stuff that just feel like garbage heaps compared to the new stuff.

Speaking of bugs, while watching this video, YT replaced the comment section with a comment section from a video by Thoughty2 about "inbreeding". Was really weird reading all these comments about inbreeding and anthropology about a video of the 890j. 🤨
