waiting for engineering when people will realize multicrew is truely dead and an hilariously stupidly implemented mechanic. when engineering comes exactly nothing will change except you're going to see even less multicrew ships and you will never see capital ships/large ships

You might have a point when exploration is in the game. Until then, the Polaris does everything the Carrack does better.

Really the correct phrase is, the Carrack is premature. The Polaris is mostly born fully formed with just engineering, server meshing and live capture bounty hunting missing.

I think the Perseus will be fine..it's intended to have much lower crew requirements. The Polaris is incredible but it's massive and has 11 crew positions NOT including engineering and flight ops. I suspect the Carrack then StarLancer TAC then Connie Andromeda are really the next rungs down from the Polaris.

The PDCs catch all in Arena commander, not 100% of the time but they are nasty in a low latency environment

True, but i'm pretty happy even with just the hanger, cargo size and accessibility. Those are all super useful already!

If the carrack was finished in 2024, it would be a much better ship. Just like if the Polaris was created 5 or so years ago, it wouldn’t be no where near as impressive.

it "kills" the carrak on the current limited uses for the carrak, that the polaris can do more and better, but once the carrak gets all its features they will be 2 totally different ships and the carrak wiñl jave its own kindom

@@StoneCoolds the carrack gets an armored window and scanning boom arms and drones. how does that equal better than Polaris if you put them on the same field? like its okay to like the carrack, but you still need to keep it in the scope of reason. I have both ships and even set my carrack up for combat. but trust me, Polaris smokes it, easy Peezy.

Just in terms of being the best big ship in the game when it comes to things you can do with it in the game currently overall.

@ sure, but besides the 890J we really haven’t had a capital ship to use. So we need not look at it from the basis of other ships. But rather see it as the tool to compare any and all capital ships that we get to fly after. I feel like that makes the most logical sense.

It's the best current org ship for basing out of, is quite good at multirole ship, and from what I hear truly excels at combat.

lol at the end of the day, carrack isn't a combat ship. so yes, Polaris will smoke it. they have completely different roles, just because you're not happy about something doesn't make you objectively right about something. tractor beam isn't to bring stuff from outside its meant to maneuver items already in it.

@@metalrain300 Carrack will just fly away laughing at Polaris. Torps have 200SCM speed. Turrets can fire only at the diffrent directions from eachother. Front S6 turret has very average DPS. The ammount of efforts and crew that would take Polaris to take down Carrack is totally not worth it.

@ the Polaris scm speed is like 150 ish. I’ll have to double check. I do know it’s faster than the starlancer who’s scm speed is 140 and the carracks scm is also 140. If you think switch to nav mode will save them. Sorry to say, a single fighter will pick them off if they are in nav mode. Shields down and no turrets while doing so and if you got a fighter with a quantum dampener you can’t jump either. Also torps aren’t faster than a fighter, but are faster than a carrack and have a 30km range. It’s less effort than you think. We shouldn’t really be doing this whole bs of trying pull out hypotheticals to make one ship better than another. The carrack is an exploration ship I don’t see why y’all keep trying to say it’s better than a combat ship at combat. Polaris isn’t an explorer so it’s not as good as the carrack there. But the carrack isn’t a dedicated combat ship so it’s not to good there either. It doesn’t even have PDS’s while the Polaris is covered in them. That’s because the general rule is large combat ships have them. Except the phoenix which has 1. But the carrack doesn’t need them because its role isn’t to jump into combat its role is to scan planets and map wormholes.

Pilots view is obstructed? - this is a capital ship - it wont be involved in dogfights and theres no pilot controlled weps for pillars to be preventing lining up a shot with. Im not picking a dog in the polaris / carrack fight.. just saying the bridge design doesnt call for a redesign. Ive been playing since 3.17 the years of raging ive seen about that little slice of struts of the constellation blocking less than 10% of the pilots view is insane xd. ... same with the Freelancer. You do know we have 'vehicles' here in the real world and other scifi representing fantasy or future design ---- what percentage is a glass bubble where % obstructions to a 360 degree view is met with crying? xd ..THats the cockpit layout - fly that btch
