On jetskis, you should start the engine first, then start the water. Unlike a boat, they don't have that rubber impeller to get ruined if it is dry. If you start the water first, it can get into the engine through the exhaust. There should be an "automatic bilge" on the machine, and it uses a 1 way valve. Sometimes they fail. EASY FIX! Really not good to start those in such shallow water. They suck up the sand/dirt and that ruins the impeller/wear ring, and also plugs up the cooling in the engine.

That's exactly what happened... he introduced water into the crank case. I learned that lesson the hard way. But, whether he knew it or not, he did the best thing you can in that situation... get it into the water ASAP and run the shit out of it.

The water hose flush kit isn't for tuning and you need to have the motor running before turning it on. It is only to flush out the cooling system after riding like in salt water. you should not tune on the hose. There is no load on the motor it won't be right. The Keihin carb sucks and doesn't like to keep prime or idle. You will tune for a whole day and the following week it will be out of tune again. I run SBN Mikuni 44 on all my skis. oh, and it sounds and looks like it isn't getting any or enough fuel it doesn't sound right. seems very hard to start and wants to fall on its face. i bet the throttle response is terrible.

I got rid of it needless to say the next day and got a 2 seater side by side, waverunner, Which was pretty neat. you'd sit side by side, and the steering wheel could be moved to the right or left.

750SX was single carb and sold in '92-'95 model years, 750SXi was twin carb and '95-'96 (1 year where both were available). So that '92 was originally a single carb. Wonder if just the twin carb/manifold setup was swapped over or if the whole engine was swapped. The cylinder porting changed for higher top end power for the SXi engines, but I've got an SX engine with the SXi carbs in my '95 SXi and it doesn't feel any different than when I had the original SXi engine in it.

I have a 93 750sx with dual mikunis 40s, its a good all round ski, plenty of power. Never ridden a stock single carb sx or an sxi so i cant say exactly how they are different. Anyways i manage 46 mph on flat water with Gps (with a solas scoop grate on) , and i weigh 205-210 lbs, so i'd say its like the sxi HPwise (70 isch horse). Good thing about the sx is that they apparently got more holeshot power/low end power than the sxi, which from just a few years of experience i can tell is way more important than top end, even though its fun to rip at higher speeds. Good allround power for all types of riding.

My cousin has a 94 sx which has the single carb but he upgraded the reeds and put a timing advance. I have an 02 sxi pro which has the dual carbs and I can say that his has way more low end power then mine does even tho mine has almost 15 more hp. His will run faster then mine but I think that has to do with hull design more then anything

Riding tip when starting off: If you push all of your weight down on the bars, instead of trying to lift the handle-pole right away, the machine will remain extremely stable. Only lift the pole after both feet are planted in the tray. Quick downward pressure also works to save yourself from wiping out when the thing gets out of shape.

@cbh148

750SX commonly has an issue at the fuel tank vent. The fuel tank vent is located under the hood on top of the tank. Of the 3 hoses coming out of the top of the tank, the vent is the one that goes forward (runs up the handle pole). There's a check valve in the device on top of the tank that the 3 hoses come off of. If the vent check valve acts up, it'll struggle to build and maintain pressure in the tank to pump fuel to the carb(s).
@cbh148
@cbh148 Жыл бұрын
Also, they are notoriously hard to start for the first time when it's been days/weeks since the last. Some add a primer, which I've wanted to do but never got around to since they wear out after awhile and create a pressure leak. Instead, all I do is locate the fuel return line that runs from the carb to the fuel tank. Pull that line off the carb and blow into it. This will push fuel up into the line that provides fuel to the carb, doing the same thing a primer does. A cheap wing nut hose clamp holding the line onto the carb will make this quick and easy w/o needing tools yet will have the security that the line won't come off while riding. If you just used the choke alone without priming it, you end up having to run the starter for so long (15-45 seconds) that you put lots of unnecessary wear on the starter. Plus, a battery that's getting old might not handle it, where it would still have another couple of years if only needing to run the starter for a normal 1-2 seconds.

Also, a buddy of mine who raced 750SX's in the late 90's early 2000's (specifically only had SX's, not SXi or SXi Pro) recently told me that the plastic straws sticking down into the fuel tank for the fuel pickups can get hairline fractures in them up high in the tank, causing some issues with it's ability to draw fuel up.

I don't think that you're necessarily rich. I would be looking for either a problem head gasket or a problem exhaust gasket that's allowing water into the combustion process. The thing sounds like it's trying to combust with a partial water mixture. That would explain the washed out spark plugs, the sludgy mess blowing out your exhaust because of water getting into the exhaust system/combustion process. Worth checking.

QUICK POWER IMPROVEMENTS: 1: hollow out the water box (pull out the stuffing) for quick throttle response and improved horsepower, 2, change impellor to a solas or equal for increased RPM and faster out of the hole response, 3, slighty bigger jets and a hotter plug for more horsepower
@frodiesel0

No no no. Hollow out the water box? Are you serious just upgrade to an xh2o alum box w baffles. Please do not change your jetting without using a pop off tester. Don't mess with the diaphragms before trying to lean out the low speed T screws with it running and NO water on. The ''spooge'' at the back is likely from running the water before starting it. You can run it for at least a few minutes with no water at all...while you tweak both screws for throttle response and leave the high speed T's alone until you try it on the water under a load.

I have one of these a 96 SXi, the carbs are way too rich with that amount of blue smoke coming out, find the screw settings online and start from there, it should only blow half that amount at start up then it's a nice light white colour when under full knuckle. Never run the hose first, ever. They are prone to porposing, chuck at least 3-5 stainless washers under the back bolts of the ride plate, it'll change it all together. Get some fatty sponsons, they are death at speed stock. I've hit 82kmh on mine with 1/4 throttle to go. I have a 2023 superjet that likes you to ride it, these SXi are like telling your girlfriend you rooted her sister and holding on for life, they are full bucking broncos. Wicked ski when you master it, full sideways water level turns with full power, awesomeness!

In the state of Wisconsin do you need a title to register the machine or just a bill of sale? Im my state of Washington you need both bill of sale and title to register the car boat or motorcycle Or any power sports machine.

You know what, Joe? This was certainly a stand up video and I enjoyed it thoroughly as always! Practice taking off on your belly then standing once you get going.

More fun toys. Did not make a precise count but seemed like you dropped it far more often on right turns than left? The new GoPro takes sharp and vivid videos.

To keep it from bouncing try a few washers under the ride plate in the back. Pole up one leg up front one in the back and lean over the pole a bit

And like others said. Start the ski first then turn the water on it can go up the exhaust ports and into the cylinders

Always start the jet ski with no water going threw it and after you get it running turn it on if you try to start it with water going threw it you could hydro lock the motor

I wouldn’t worry about the idle. A lot of guys set it to zero on standup skis including me. If I fall off of it and my kill switch doesn’t work, I don’t want to keep idling.

Start the engine first. Then ad the hose water. And by the way. Kawasaki made a 440 that was the first Kawasaki JS.

You get an A for effort. A lot of my buddies had your model ski. They were constantly in the shop. Maybe it’s just the nature of the beast. Enjoyed the video…thanks.

so the sxi is dual carb and the sx is single carb, made only a few years later, old man had both and we still have the our kawi 1100 triple zxi, so if the ski is a sx and it has a twin carb motor they put a zxi twin carb into basically the same ski

I'm thinking that you need to level out the settings on your jet trim. It's too high causing up and down riding.

If it doesn’t idle, it’s probably too rich and that is why are you getting the Grey group mixing with the exhaust gases?

I noticed you have a spot for a shutoff lanyard but didn't use it. I had a 93 Polaris that would crank no start without a Lanyard, you may want to attach one just use the one from your Polaris and see if it helps with the long crank. You did mention a weak looking spark maybe whatever in the CDI that is supposed to prevent a start without a lanyard is failing and allowing it to start just with a low spark. And yes, ski on, then water you risk hydro locking by doing water then ski on.

You should really wear a Kill Switch Tether to your life jacket. But next thing you should do is two Keihin Carb Rebuild Kits, or even better a Mikuni SBN44 Carbs conversion. Even a single Carb would be okay really. Plus single Carb is just way easier to tune and set it. It should start up when its hot basically instantly. Install a primer kit as well. It will really help the Cold Starts ALOT and keeps the Battery from getting drained down from cranking If not after that then most likely bad Crank Seals. Also you almost ruined the jetski with all that water from the hose lol They only need alittle water after started up to flush them out or keep it cool. But always start it first...! The water is normal from falling like that.. Once you get to ride it fast it would be pumped out if it has the stock siphon pump as well You could replace the Hood Seal if you wanted to make it more water tight.. But you got the bilge pump. Just get a switch for the handlebars for it...
