Great video brings back memories this is exactly like my first bike same color and all I was 8 years old now 56.

You might need to check the crank oil seals might be sucking air or oil into the cylinder. I recently replaced the seals and bearings in my 1981 Montesa trials bike and it made a big difference.

Thanks, I had a suspicion that this may be an issue, and I wanted to hear what others thought. Will definitely look into getting this done

Part of me really wants to go wild with it with some porting, propper exhaust, top end rebuild, and some head work to really squeeze out as much power out of its 100cc's. But I'll enjoy it for what it is now

@ I love doing stuff like that, project bikes are so expensive here though these days 🙈

I enjoyed this. I had a 72 KE 100 as my 2nd bike and this brings me back to it. Great editing and production BTW.

Great video! I hope I have the time and place to do a restoration like this at some point. I also really appreciate that you didn't clean the bike and make it look new, it has some charm to it when it looks old and rusty.

Thanks a lot! That's the vibe I was going for, so I'm glad to see someone else enjoyed it!

this is such a nice bike to fix, great effort for getting it going grear!

Nice video! I would check the float height. My 1973 CT3 175 did the same thing when I’d hit rough trails. The float was letting in excess fuel when bumping around and flooding it out. It would work perfect on flat stuff.

Thanks, I have the Clymer's for this, and I thought I set it properly, but I'll take another look and verify.

The gas cap has a vent in it, it may be old and just clogged. It may be causing a vacuum starving it for fuel.
@Dan_And_Daves_GarageАй бұрын
Thanks, I'll check it out

learn how to check the steering head bearings; you just lift the front wheel up a little, and shake / twist the forks on their pivot; there are two bearings in the assembly; MOST youtube mechanics are overlooking this inspection; it is a vital safety check....tks for fun videio.

Will definitely have to take a look. Thanks for the tip

if the fork seals are shot, then the new oil wont stay long in there either, replaceing the seals is not resto, its maintenence
@Dan_And_Daves_GarageАй бұрын
When everything needs work it very quickly spirals into restoration. I have the fork seals and will do them in a later episode, this was temporary just to set a baseline

Ignition problem. I can tell by that sound!: points & condenser? Coil or ignition control unit! Maybe the plug first!
@Dan_And_Daves_Garage23 күн бұрын
Installed a fresh plug right before going out on the test ride. Others have suggested points and condenser as well so I'll make sure to check those out

Whats the oil for the engine?
@Dan_And_Daves_GarageАй бұрын
Any 10W 4T motorcycle oil safe for wet clutches will work. Not sponsored by any so I'm not going to name any specific brands
@Dan_And_Daves_GarageАй бұрын
And for the oil tank for the oil injection I just used a standard 2 stroke oil

@ I wish there was a classic bike restoration shop close to me, I truly love working on all motorcycles especially the vintage ones. The first thing I usually hear from clients is how they once owned one, and the way their faces light up when they see the finished product is priceless. Thanks for the vid guys.

You should be cleaning and lubricating everything while you’re in there!!!! Use some locktite where needed.

Why not clean all the oil and grease and crap off everything as you go?
@Dan_And_Daves_GarageАй бұрын
This wasn't a restoration video? The whole purpose was to see how much effort it would realistically take to go from sitting in a barn since 1985 (according to the seller) to going out and enjoying it on a trail.
