Apples to apples. Please do this test with two similar SUV’ (or two similar pick-up trucks). Pick-up trucks are light in the back and usually require extra weight in the bed (i.e., sandbags). Thanks.

Since when does Lexus make a Landcruiser

Love the manual being upside down. lol. Dam 5k miles. Lots of fun had on that bike. How much did u spend to get it up to fun status. Well worth it what ever u spent.

It’s not the snow tires it’s the dog that makes the difference. The Land Cruiser is obviously scared from the dog and somehow manages to run away from him

Best part of the video was the doggo

try not to run over your dog- not to smart

*Mmm... Yeeeah... I'd be able to take this seriously if you had demonstrated that you put some weight in the bed of the pickup to make it a fair comparison.*

Just got mine, an ‘18. Was looking for a LS430 but it wasn’t easy to find a clean one with documentation so my wife said just get a newer, lower mileage SUV and bingo! The GX light went on. I think the LS430 and the GX are the epitome of Lexus quality and reliability. Thanks for the video, nice job!
@bigal51903 сағат бұрын
The Landcruiser would have been able to get up the hill with regular all seasons anyway because of the extra weight in the rear. But yes of course winter tires are better but that goes without saying
@oldnumber63 сағат бұрын
Nothing to see here. A truck with nothing in the bed vs a balanced SUV. The SUV is going to do better every time

That's not a toyota land cruiser

My ex girlfriend has a Subaru Impreza with all seasons, and we lived in Mass. We’d always take my crown Victoria with winter tires anywhere, it’s way safer than awd with normal tires
@1down5up4266 сағат бұрын
To me it's even more important on the road where stopping distance is critical. In deep snow like this an all terrain or mud tire would probably get you up that hill no problem, just not as effortlessly as the dedicated winter tire
@Dan_And_Daves_Garage5 сағат бұрын
Stopping is definitely more important, but was hard to test in my limited space. I've personally had BFG KO2s and Falken Wildpeaks, and they worked well in deep snow like this.

As a teen I would drive to a church parking lot on first snow to do this. It taught me many winter driving skills. I'm 70 now and never one accident. Drive safe.

The landcruiser more than likely has diff locks on it which is a massive advantage
@Dan_And_Daves_Garage5 сағат бұрын
Doesn't have diff locks. US models 1998-200 had it, but this one as an 2006 has the ATRAC system, which is kind of cumbersome. Tundra actually has an LSD in rear

@edgemonsiteworksllc33697 сағат бұрын
@ lol. Either you don’t know how to drive in the snow or you don’t have snow tires or maybe semi trucks should take off all those outside tires. The more tires, the better the traction with proper tires.

UZJ100, same thing as the Land Cruiser but with nicer leather. My hydraulic suspension has been swapped for the Land Cruiser struts/springs so its even closer than other LX470s.

The Land Cruiser has lockers tundra doesn’t
@Dan_And_Daves_Garage5 сағат бұрын
Only 1998-2000 (US models) had lockers available. This is a 2006 model and has the ATRAC system, which in my personal experience is kind of cumbersome.

@lukesanders282715 сағат бұрын
Gotta put them on the same car for a fair demo. The winter tires also carried more momentum up the hill. I agree with the conclusion, but the methodology was quite flawed

How much of a difference is all season with snow tires now
@robgranberg785416 сағат бұрын
Put some weight in the box of the truck.
@NeilMacEwen-u7i16 сағат бұрын
So you drove through the tundra tracks Not fresh snow, and incase it never acured to you the full cab on the land cruiser adds plenty of rear end weight the tundra does not have put 800 or so pounds in the bed of the tundra and try again weight helps with traction

While certainly true on the claims of snow tires, this is not exactly a fair and accurate comparison as the land cruser is far better equipped to handle the terrain with or without the tires.
@majedalshamrani653118 сағат бұрын
Bullshit video, it’s obvious you want suv to win uphill there was a big difference of vehicle speed before reaching to the hill!!
@rbuswell18 сағат бұрын
They are actually called winter tires, not snow. Even without snow, driving in temperatures below 40 degrees, summer and all- season tires are borderline dangerous. Their chemistry makes their grip poor below 40 degrees.
@epicmickey235119 сағат бұрын
Would snow peak rated all terrain tires work?
@gt32638 сағат бұрын
May be. But overall Nothing beats Good winter tires
@Dan_And_Daves_Garage5 сағат бұрын
Personal experience with triple peak rated KO2s and Wildpeaks, they're decent and work well in deep snow like this, but not as good as a dedicated winter tire. Dedicated winter tires are much softer for cold weather.
