1993 LP Standards came with the 498t and 490r pickup set, like my '93 sunburst has. The '57 ppickup came out a little after that to be used in historic reissues and such....

Condolences to Curtis' Family. He had a fine collection. I would ask that in honor of him to leave the sticker on the Strat. And maybe write up a small card to go with the guitar when it sells, so the next owner could either remove it, or leave it to honor him.

Exactly, every guitar has a story and that sticker is part of one. Kind of like how Matthew Scott will investigate each guitar, going back as far as possible. Our Son has asked for random photos of myself with my guitars, I'm pretty sure he will eventually keep the photos in the cases long after I've left this planet.

@@hkguitar1984 I'm in the same boat. The kids know which guitars will be there's. There are photos with the guitars, kids and myself and I'm maybe going to have a logbook with each, so it can get filled as they are passed through the generations. I still need a "keeper" Les Paul

@@therapist6328 Exactly. I've put together a Notebook that explains all the modifications to each guitar and the amplifiers. I've started keeping track of when the tubes were replaced as well as which brand of tube I prefer and for what reasons. Pretty much documenting everything. Years ago I had an old Les Paul Custom that was modified with the Jimmy Page control wiring, for that instrument I carefully folded up the wiring schematic and placed it inside the control cavity! Since then I have changed it back to a normal vintage LP Wiring (simple is best). Still though, any modified guitar has its own schematic folded up in the control cavity. BTW, that Jimmy Page wiring is a bird's nest of wires. As for a "keeper", yes, I do have a favorite as well. Hopefully my Kids won't need to refer to that Notebook for a good many years! Austin, if you check I believe you might find that Curtis was a Veteran. The sticker on his Custom Shop Stratocaster holds meaning for some Combat Veterans. Spade and Skull meaning; Soldiers actually used it as a symbol of luck. Later, in the Vietnam War, soldiers believed that the Vietnamese thought that the ace of spaces meant death. As a result, U.S. soldiers started putting the Ace of Spades on the bodies of dead enemy soldiers hoping that they would scare away the Viet Cong.

What you’re referring to is likely kill cards from the Vietnam war. Custom playing cards that some units would leave behind atop dead bodies as a calling card of their team or unit. Usually special forces. The whole thing is really dark, so I really doubt that’s what the sticker is about.

Gary Moore bough the guitar from Peter Green who replaced Eric Clapton in the John Mayalls Blues Breakers and off to create his own band... Fleetwood Mac. He is responsible for the out of phase sound after sending the LP to a local repair guy that somehow put the magnets in backwards. listen to the song super natural while he was with the Blues Breakers to listen to that guitar in all its glory...amazing!

Thoughts and prayers to those he left behind... the deal with the scratch pad is to apply it to the guitar when you play it while wearing buttons or buckles but remove it afterwards. Never leave anything in contact with the guitar finish that can "off gas" or trap moisture. Love the channel, keep up the good work.

Agreed, the top is an almost perfect blend of a quilty type flame, and then the back is simply outrageously beautiful (IMO). To top it all off they did an extra great job on the burst with the red being almost perfect as to how deep/dark it goes.

3:14 It might also be a good idea to take it off after every time you play(too late now in this case) and maybe only use it when standing as sitting might not be an issue, the reaction if that's what it is might be from it being on for such long periods. It seems similar to the Zowie mouse pad I have that's kind of a 'sticky' rubber but no actual adhesive, but it def sticks pretty good.

Trogly, have you seen VinWiki??? its a public registry of all the Vins of all the members exotic cars. It was started originally to record all the manual Lambos because the factory always stated more cars being built and delivered than were ever actually produced. RIP Curtis. The Supreme is beautiful, but my fav was def the 93 natural top LP standard. When you opened the case I went "whoa". Reminds me of Koss' stripped burst, but this one looked beautiful with the quilty top. Curtis had a great taste in guitars.

Not 100% sure, but the color variation could be as simple as it having uneven UV exposure. For example, cherry (without any finish) will have drastic variations if you leave it partially covered and expose it to the sunlight. I've had it happen with mahogany too though. You may just want to leave the guitar out near a window and see if that sorts it out.

The interesting thing in this case is the covered area is a "lighter" color than the outside. This tells me the finish has reacted like a stand rash and has yellowed making it look "faded"

RIP Curtis. Could not pick the right person to handle this veterans guitar collection. Curtis had great taste in guitars. As far as the Ace of Spade decal, Trogly I would leave it for the new owners discretion to keep or remove it If I bought this awesome fender guitar I would leave the decal to Honor Curtis life. I am a fender player. I would buy this guitar in a heart beat. Have to see Trogly for details. Thanks for sharing this awesome guitar collection with us. I love and own and play les Paul’s too. Wonderful collection of guitars that you have relieved Curtis’s family of, and have saved them the trouble of having to deal with a whole collection of various interested parties, which I suspect is something that they did not wish to do at this time, and I am sure that they are very thankful that you have saved them from that burden. May Curtis Rest In Peace! All of those guitars are very nice, and the Stratocaster, could always have the pick guard swapped out if someone didn’t want the sticker on it, without too much trouble, I don’t think it was a stock item, at all, but someone may like it just the way it is. Personally, I would be interested in the four (4) conductor ‘57 pickup for a project guitar that I have been working on. All of the Les Paul guitars are beautiful, especially the Supreme, we can all see why you are going to hang on to that, it is absolutely spectacular. Please get back to me if you are interested in parting with the pickup I mentioned above. I will be looking forward to seeing the other Les Paul soon, I suspect it is just as nice as all of the other ones. Thank you for posting these videos! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨

Since it is in honor of Curtis - leave the sticker on the guitar - if you do change it out or the next owner does not want it - then change out the pick guard completely, frame the old pick guard with the sticker in a nice shadow box made of birdseye maple, and send to the family.

Fender is the best. (To me). Loved that a Strat popped in. Such a great thing. Wonder if the bridge pup is shit.... I have a 91 and I have finally decided I have to change that thin little thing out. Has 0 girth at all. I mean, yeah... it's a strat bridge... it's supposed to be bright... but not that bright. There are those new Pots made with a little circuit board and the pot is a switch. Let's you add tones. It's really something.
