love the Hiawatha scheme the MILW used. One thing i should point out is that the Hiawatha 4-4-2 Atlantic had airhorns instead of whistles, but anything is possible in Lionel lol. I also loved the part when you said how your daughter called the famous Hiawatha, the Orange Creamsicle 🤣. Gotta love it when RPB Trains uploads a new video!

I’m more worried that Lionel packed the 1939 cars, with the 1935 locomotive. And didn’t event bother to add the maroon crest to the back of the tender that the As got to match the ‘39 trainsets.

Great video. I love to see kids playing with trains. This big kid just purchased Lionel’s Winter Wonderland train and accessories. My only dismay is that Lionel does not make an O31 Fast Track Power Point . I wanted to make a small circle train under my Christmas tree. I removed the power point connection from a straight piece of track and I affixed it to a piece of O31 curved track. I wanted to use the power pack supplied with the train to enable me to use Lionel’s phone application. Looks weird, but fake snow covered up the power point connection perfectly. Keep making your great videos!

Ooohh you got the Beaver Tail that came out in 1938 which was the last one to come out. Definitely really cool to see that it isn't often you do. Though one guy at the Twin City Model Railroad museum has that in 2 Rail O scale and I videoed that one just because it's so unique.

Seeing it run side by side with the Polar Express brought a big smile to my face, especially considering the fact I purchased my very own Polar Express O-Scale Lionel set this morning from my local Lionel store. Well worth the purchase as I also bought two add on cars to give the train a more movie accurate look with the five passenger cars. Can’t wait to eventually put my layout together over the course of the next year once I have an idea in mind and buy additional track. 🚂

Yes that is a very nice train set, even tho I'm mostly in Post war and MPC. I wish I lived closer I think you might enjoy my MPC Era Pennsylvania set. I have the original set with the steam engine, but I have all the original cars +the add on Truman Campaign car and the add on dinner, being pulled by a Penn. Little Joe. Altogether about 13 or 14 cars.

Thanks for the treat of seeing the colorful hiawatha. It was a great train to see on your lay out. It is facinnating to hear you are giving such a expensive set. My son and I have been doing trains together for a ong time. He is now 37 years old and we are still running them. He bought a MTH C&O Greenbriar. I found some passenger cars to add to his set. Looking forward to see his reaction on Christmas as well. Out of the four children we had he is only the only one that has stuck with it. and help build the lay out we have today. Thanks again

The original Hiawatha locomotives were oil fired which helped a lot with keeping the train clean, it's also why you can't see a coal load on top of the tender.

As a Milwaukee Road fan, both the streamlined 4-4-2 Atlantic and streamlined 4-6-4 Hudson Hiawatha locomotives are on the top of my wish list. I have some Hiawatha passenger cars but its not the same without one of those locomotives pulling them. Your daughter is lucky to own one, just promise you'll give her a turn playing with it once in a while.

the actual hiawatha's (baltic 4-6-4s only, had whistles irl), the A2s had air horns, because of how fast the train went, and that you really couldn't see or hear the whistle well at speed, the same goes for when daylight passenger trains had to run in fog, but still a nice set

"The train that looks like an Orange Creamsicle." Dang, the Milwaukee Road could have used that for an advertising catch-phrase! Brilliant on your daughter's part Chris! (Personally I'm a Fuggicle guy myself. It's OK to pronounce Fudgesicle as Fuggicle by the way, no lie, I got it directly from two guys who worked in the Popsicle company's R&D department! There's a story!) Yeah, I find it a little disconcerting to hear radio talk from the cab of a 1935 engine, hearing baseball or shop talk from the crew would have been a bit more authentic, but whatever, it's a toy after all! Nice catch! And I'm sure your little girl's going to be thrilled! Just let her play with it, OK? Don't hog it up yourself! 🤣

They kept them clean by burning oil rather than coal. The film’s of these trains at speed show only a light haze out of the stack. They also had an army of personnel to keep it rubbed down. The Milwaukee Road was a class act back in the day.
