My advice for continued expansion of the island? Buy a couple mangrove saplings and plant them near that section where the shallows meet the island. As a saltwater-freshwater tolerant plant, it can help prevent erosion, act as a micro biome for smaller animals like fish and crustaceans, and provide you with a method of expansion that doesn't require a lot of manual/mechanical labour to get done and can even potentially let you create a second lagoon if you are strategic about placement of the saplings. Aside from that a vermiculture(basically a compost box, but with worms to assist with the breakdown process) to place scraps and turn out better quality soil with, a pair of small livestock(a couple chickens would probably work best), and a sackful of potatoes(preferably ones that have already sprouted) and rocks. Build a container, pour rocks into the bottom(half a foot deep depending on how wide the container) so that excess water can drain out without waterlogging the container, add enough soil to cover up the rocks, place the sprouting potatoes about a foot distance from each other, then proceed to cover them with about half a foot of dirt. In a month's time you will have a great deal of potatoes on your hands that can be utilized in a number of ways.

I don’t like your idea because if you fall, and the knife is below you, you have no control over it hanging from a string below you if you fall. But at least if it is in a sheath on your person, you will not impale yourself if you slip and fall. Also when he stored his machete after laying down, he put it into the wood above him. I would worry it would fall out of the wood onto me. I would not put it there. It’s worth being careful out there, especially with blades. One wrong move and there is no hospital to stick you up, or even the microbes that can infect a small cut... gotta be careful.

Owning land more than just a small 5,000 sq ft backyard is amazing. I bought a house on 5 acres in Tennessee a couple years ago and my backyard is a thick, natural forest with tons of trees, a creek, a pond, brush, and wildlife. Have fun, but remember: some of the larger species of reef fish (like potato groupers) may be more than 20 years old - you could easily upset the ecology in such a small area in only a few weeks. I’d recommend using a boat and fishing in the open water for oceanic species, and thus maintaining the delicate balance of the island and its immediate vicinity. Anyway, have fun.

Yeah i knew it...I am married with indo women for 10 years now and we met a "notaris" in Bali for our marriage so i know a little bit about this topic..many foreigners are forced to give back their expensive villa back to the governement after 20 years...its posdible to extend once but many of them dont know it and the administration is not easy to understand if you dont know anybody...for example my two daughters can own anything in there due to the fact that they re born there and have indo nationality...

The only things that I would have done differently are making foot protection and make the shelter slightly off of the ground to prevent water pooling underneath as well as protection against any ground dwelling insects. Not being a native of the area, his immune system would be weak against injury he may sustain there, and a simple cut could turn serious to deadly in a matter of hours. But that looks like an amazing island and hope you can enjoy the fruits of your purchase for years to follow!

Note: Restrictions for Foreign Property Investment Foreigners can only own property under a leasehold agreement, which means that they lease the land for a certain period of time, typically 30 years with an option to renew for an additional 30 years. Foreigners cannot own freehold property in Indonesia. How long did you investigate all options? How many islands did you consider? What are the island restrictions? Which means that you only have the right to use it. Most of HP is the land owned by the government, so when the HP expires, the land goes back to the government.

Yup, some foreigners do that in Indonesia too, but it is still not owned by you but by your partner. The same law also applied to a non Indonesian citizens who got it from their Indonesian parents or if that person was Indonesian and changed their citizenship. How on earth did you manage to buy an Island that size in Indonesia ?, I heard it is incredibly hard to buy any free hold title unless you are an Indonesian citizen ?, by the way what did it set you back, cost wise ?.
