Colin of the Haunted Lamp here, just wanted to say thank you so much for showing my film. I’m very glad you got some good laughs out of it and I appreciate the feedback on it a lot. I do my films mostly by myself and I acknowledge my need to improve on certain things. Thank you again!

Drew from Frogman here. Thank you so much for discussing my film, I definitely understand the feedback and really appreciate the time you took to watch it!

I’m curious, is it an anti-smoking story? We watch the character smoke and smoke and smoke before he sees the frogman, seemingly referencing Death in Seventh Seal. Frogman being a reference to the smokers voice as in this is the consequence for his heavy smoking. Perhaps I’m reading too much into it haha

Please come out with more stuff like this! I’m absolutely loving it!

I'm assuming the "Haunted Lamp" is a pull from your previous video about success in writing short stories. You suggested the writing games 3 things - genre, subject, and time - horror, light bulb, 10 minutes. I could be wrong but I see the connection here.

By far the videos I look forward to the most on KZbin right now. Find this so interesting and I LOVE seeing all the little short films everyone’s creating. Might have to try one myself soon and send it in!

Hey could you do this with dramatic short film? Focusing most on dialogue, conversation, framing, lighting, for the best effect. - you’d know best, but I for one would submit for sure!

"Frogman" teaches us to cast people with the skills they need for the film. A smoking character should know how to light and smoke a cigarette.

I liked Frogman, kind of the same vibe as Eraserhead.

Some input for the Frogman shoot. After the punch, the next shot should have the actor turning the other way onto the ground to keep continuity of motion. I feel that the last one was more of a horror than a comedy, but that's just how I felt the vibe. I understood his anxiety of uncleanliness as the root, which is why I felt it as horror over comedy.

--- **Hello my friend,** I am a beginner film director. So far, I have directed three films, one of which is a documentary. I’m still in the learning phase, but I feel frustrated with where I am, and I feel like I haven’t developed at all. I love films and storytelling, but I don’t know... I feel a bit lost sometimes. On some days, I think to myself that this field is hard and maybe it’s not for me, and I might be wasting my time, effort, and money. I’m sure there are many followers of yours who are in a similar situation. Can you create an inspiring video telling us about the challenges you faced? Did you ever experience this kind of frustration at any stage of your journey? How did you know that directing and filmmaking was the right path for you? I hope I’ve made myself clear, and thank you. ---

All of these just felt like a thriller with comedic twists or lines? Not exactly laugh out loud films even if it had some funny bits but like alright

Why were these called comedies and why did you think they were funny? These are clearly thriller/horror direction. I guess it is about individual sense of humor. 🤔

they were all pretty funny, comedy's subjective ig

Haunted Lamp: not funny at all, terrible camera, terrible sound, terrible story, terrible acting Frogman: not funny, first minute almost useless, poor acting, no reason for the stylistic choice (looks like it was another script but changed last minute to supposedly "comedy" genre just to submit) (what was he doing there? where came the frogs? there's a micro lake faaaaaar beyond where you were filming, could be used to make a little sense) Stitched: good production, good puppeteering/well enough acting, nice script (seems like the first of these 3 that actually WROTE a script, there's a crazy story behind (maybe it's more a suspense than comedy) Method: nice filming/lighting/acting, nice fake beard, creepy lipless smile of the girl... (seems like you had to record a reel of the barista to pay for the location, so you just shove it in the final movie), no laughs though, but ok. Maybe cinema students don't like to laugh...
