Hi there .....! My unit came in unexpectedly early on 20th July ......indeed it is an impressive machine with a size that beat others and stand out tall in the crowd ......Already prepared to add some goodies like the Quicrun 1080 80A Esc ( with Program card ) , a sound system, a bigger battery capacity (4200mAh) and a Radiolink RC6GS 6CH Controller...... Thanks for your videos which came in handy in term of modifications and some good advice on how to manage this big baby........Cheers.....!

Hi, Just a quick question about your Proline 2.2 Super Swampers - are they the smaller 5.4" (137mm) or the larger XL 5.8 (148mm) versions. Many thanks, Paul

@paulmaxam99373 жыл бұрын
@@TomleyRC Many thanks for your reply, I am starting a bespoke build of the pickup version of this crawler that will replicate a specific full size version. It will need to have an exact replica set of 2.2 tyres fitted to match the real vehicle and these are 5.5" in diameter. If you think you fitted the XL Super Swampers which are 5.8 inches tall, I should be ok by adjusting the wheel arches and moving the front bumper forward. Decade Store have now got a lot of spares available online for these crawlers including both bodyshells and a steel rollcage ! Don't leave your orange beast in the lock up too long, I am looking forward to seeing a full run video once you get those stripped axles sorted out ! Double E have released an updated version of the white pickup with steel driveshafts, a removeable front plastic winch which reveals a winch plate for a real scale winch, narrower scale axles and new springs/shocks giving a more realistic stance. They are also just about to release an updated version of your orange beast in grey. I will order one as soon as they are out and modify it straight out of the box. I will fit the SCX10 II 2 speed gearbox as you did and fit a pair of Axial Wraith or similar width axles for reliability. Keep up the great work ! Many thanks Paul

@TomleyRC4 жыл бұрын
Yes, had it apart last night. I've taken a tooth off one of the gears, and looks like it's chewed up the little slot that the spline looks into to stop the gear spinning freely on the shaft. To much torque from the 3s lipo and new motor...coupled with the big tires. I've been talking with on of the product reps at Double E...and will send pictures. Although pretty certain the stock ones will be fine.

Anything aluminum in the drivetrain is no upgrade at all. Go steel. If not, you're just wasting money. Aluminum won't last long enough to justify the cost over stock plastic replacements. I've found good steel drive shafts out there for the same price or slightly more than the aluminum shafts. Just have to shop for them.
@TomleyRC4 жыл бұрын
Yeah agree... although the alloy shafts should be better than the stock ones.
@joeowen61214 жыл бұрын
@@TomleyRC Yes, they SHOULD be better, but, when you compare dollar spent with the amount of usage time before the part breaks, are they better?
@carlbModels3 жыл бұрын
@@joeowen6121 mixed feelings about this. Ali is expensive for what it is, compared to steel. But Ali is a lot lighter and doesn't impact performance like steel does. Eg a steel main driveshaft will reduce top speed and acceleration a lot more than ali. Ok steel is solid and can be cheaper, but you need to literally weigh up the benefits. There's a place for everything, even plastic.
@joeowen61213 жыл бұрын
@@carlbModels any mention of speed when it comes to trail trucks or crawlers, and you're in the wrong category of RC. Can a trail truck or crawler go fast enough to worry about whether a steel drive shaft is adding fractions of a second onto your lap time or "scale ¼-mile" time? Yes. Is it going to preform well enough to compete with an RC designed for that? Not a chance. So, even then, it would be better to have steel because your only chance at winning is if that other car snaps an ali drive shaft and has a DNF.
