While I love this Harbor Freight jack I can't seem to have enough luck to get one of these off-road jacks that works perfectly. I noticed recently that the jack wasn't quite lifting the way I expected it to. This video is not intended to be a HOW-TO but more or less HOW-I fixed the issue I was having with it.

It doesn’t say at all you are supposed to do that before you use it.. it just talks about how to bleed the pump and check oil fluid also maintenance. In the manual does not says anywhere to bleed the pump before first use.. I just got one and looking at videos I saw this and this comment and it’s not true.. at list in my manual does not says that.

It also doesn’t tell you you’re suppose to install the handle or the wheels, but common sense tells us maybe we should do all of the things listed under the tool set up section which includes attaching the handle, attaching wheels, installing strap ring, installing extension, bleeding pump, and adding hydraulic fluid. All of that is listed in the manual before general operating instructions. So yea it does say you’re suppose to do it.

@@Bipets2001 Go back to Page 5 of the manual and re-read the bottom two sections on adding and bleeding the hydraulic fluid. It states it quite clearly. I just assembled mine today but don't have any hydraulic fluid so that will happen in the morning.

One should always read the manual that comes with things (For those who complain that they are having issues)- Says right in there to bleed and add erl if necessary before even using the jack. Love my Badlands off-road! I work exclusively on gravel and grass, and this thing is a true game-changer.

Actually it shows how to bleed it, not that one needs to prior to operation.

@@BadlandIndustries Mine manual actually says to bleed it first (Maybe they updated the manuals- Just bought mine 2 weeks ago). I never did bleed mine yet though, as it works perfectly....

Thank for the video, i bought my jack 1 year ago and used it less than 5 times. I was going to put shocks on my f150 and my jack started sounding like a goose going up. It went up but way too slowly. I got the job done. I will be checking the oil.

All store brought jacks only have bare minimum oil in them to make them work. I always fill my jacks up soon as I buy them. Check all your jacks I bet they all take oil.

Yeah that's what it seemed liked. Might have just needed to be burped and filled. So far it's still working 100%. No more half pumps.

Unfortunately, that's not correct. You like many others have suggested that the manual says to bleed before use. I've read the thing several times through and while it does show a bleeding procedure within the operating instructions page it is not explicit in stating needing to be bled before use.

Thank you for posting this video. I just got this jack and wonder why it took me 18 pumps to jack my rear wheels off the floor at the rear axel on my GX470. I need to go bleed mine and report back now. It was annoying it took so much pumps to build pressure.

I just got my new Badlands jack. I turned it counter clockwise and pumped it but hydraulic fluid began spewing from the rag joint/ unoint that connects the handle to the pump. Is my pump defective or was it attributed to user error?
@BadlandIndustries

You only need to back that off a half turn at most . It's likely you just unscrewed it too far.

If car (hydolic) brakes need to be bled of air bubbles, Y not jacks? sometimes when you buy a new jack, it has instructions, which very few of us read cause they’ve got so much irrelevant ramble, that say pump it so many times & trn this or that bleeder valve, etc, etc, & so on✋

It seems common on some of them. It's possible your jack was properly bled and others didn't quite get all the air out of the system.
