I was going to show you a video on starting my 205 GTI but I forgot to pick up the parts. So this is what I did this week... I spent time breaking my car.

ok, just a heads up, a batteries primary purpose is to START THE ENGINE, after that the alternator powers ALL the electronics. The battery will, run the electronics when your stopped and say listening to your radio, so generally upping your battery ONLY helps you on start-up

Hi Luke,it's looking smart with the new wheels,with the BMW having a flat battery it affects the system, 😔,Now that's why the indicators don't work on these cars on the roads they forgot to change the footwell module LOL 😂.

Whats happening to the Volvo?

Luke, same thing happened to me when i bought a 330d last year and we changed the battery. Easy to re programme but a pain in the arse non the less

What happened and what specifically caused it
@mercedes_and_more2 жыл бұрын
@@vp5 essentially there is a very specific way to detach the battery cables and if you don't do it then it cause a power surge and various ecu's can get fried. It is not helped that the IBS hampers pulling off the can LJ e clamps quickly as the battery is in the corner of the boot.

@@mercedes_and_more I disconnected and took the BMW battery out of my e90 without a problem, charged it up and then refitted it. Maybe I just got lucky
@mercedes_and_more2 жыл бұрын
@@vp5 it was the first time in 30 years of car maintainance that I had failed such a simple job! Maybe cos the battery still had some life in it, if yours was absolutely dead then it could not spark out?
@vp52 жыл бұрын
@@mercedes_and_more but then when I refitted it, it was fully charged. It was a genuine BMW battery and massive, for a e90 335d diesel. Had a vent pipe and everything. It was a bastard to lift in and out. Super tight and awkward. Weighs about 23kg

Ahhh BMWs, I remember my e46 well, great car when it’s working, but when it’s not, you better have deep pockets😂

When I had the same car , I went abroad for a few weeks and the battery went low. The indicators stopped working or so I thought , the actual indicator still flashed but no light or clicking sound could be heard inside . As it’s controlled by the canbus system and not a traditional relay, the clicking you hear is just from a speaker

If you’re gonna change the fuel filter; I’d get a genuine one. I got one from ECP once. The clip didn’t click into place like it did on the genuine one. It just pushed on. Fast forward a few months it rattled off. Should have secured it with cable ties really

Think the wheels suit the car but like you said they could do with some spacers. You might have to register the new battery depending if your car has an intelligent battery sensor or not, some e9x generation have this and some don't

At least it lasted a week. I had a 325i and it lasted 2 days before going into limp mode and lit up like a Christmas tree 😬

I prefer the smaller wheels. Never liked the huge wheel over tyre ratio that continues to be popular.

strangely you need to tell the bmw system that it has a new battery..

Such a lovely car. It has its issues but you got an amazing price for it. How do you normally source your cars?

just sold my e92, looking forward to this series. how did you manage to blow the module? you said by messing about but what were you doing? I hear jump starting these cars direct from the battery rather than using the battery terminals under the bonnet can blow the module.
