I own a skateboard because of braille giving me the confidence that I can actually do it, despite starting at 27 years old. A lot of the time I worry about how I look, being older but very incompetent, but then I look at braille and how supportive they are of new skaters no matter who they are and it gives me the strength and courage to do it. Thanks Aaron, thank you all members of Braille, you have given me more than you think. I hope you can continue to do what you want to do for as long as you want.

I used to skate flat ground and street when I was a teenager. I learned how to skate vert for the first time when I was 15. One day, I was doing great all day. I broke my wrist on the last trick before I was about to leave. That stopped me from skating again at that time. Today, I’m 37 and just started skating for the first time since that day, 22 years ago. Your videos have inspired me to keep at it, and get back to where I was as a teenager. That was my injury! 54 yo coozer never skated. Came from surfing, started skating on a surfskate 2 years ago. Loving dropping in and pumping small bowls. Certainly had my lumps long the way. Only in a tight 5 foot bowl got across the flat bottom, slammed the other side. Didn't know what happened until I saw you do it! Bend zee knees, ya! 3months down and still can't flex my wrist without pain. TOTALLY agree with feel the fear, baby steps, build confidence and THEN progress. How is the recovery?
@SirManAlot3 жыл бұрын
Wishing you a speedy recovery Aaron, but like a lot of people have been saying here, it might be time for ya'll to start "mastering" the tricks you have already learned. I don't think a brand new trick is required for road to vert, but maybe 3 rock and rolls in a row, getting more comfortable with backside air, aiming for 8 inches of backside air, etc. It may help you overcome some of the initial fear as well, feeling relaxed and comfortable is key in any high performance situation.

December i broke my elbow. I'm 42 and started to skate 2 months prior. I was practicing skating fakie. I'd roll up to a ramp and then come down fakie, trying to get used to that feeling. i did it about 10 times and was getting comfortable and the last time i was stiff legged. Hit a rock and got tossed, wasn't even going that fast. If i would have been faster i would have rolled over the rock. Because i was backwards and had no clue how to fall that way i put my arm out to brace myself and boom. I had wrist guards on so that saved my wrist, which would have been worse to break than an elbow. So i'm lucky there. I can't wait to get back on the board, the weather's getting nice so i'm getting the itch. This channel has always been an inspiration. : )

Vert is a beautiful thing, it has been a couple decades since I rode a vert ramp but I'd love to get fully padded up again at 41 and try getting back the tricks I used to have on vert, we have a mini ramp in the village I live in but I find mini ramps hard to skate, I can't get any proper air out of the ramp because there is no vert on it at all. Heal up soon Aaron and get back to learning vert, I have been following this channel for years and always wanted to see a vert skater in the team, and now we have JD and a bunch of you actually pushing yourselves to learn tricks on the ramp, it's really amazing to watch, though I could be biased because vert is my favourite type of skating to watch. Hi Adam all the way from Newcastle NSW Australia bro! 👋 Wishing you well and for a speedy recovery mate. I absolutely love watching you learn vert bro. What you have created there my friend is one of the best things I've found on the net! I used to skate passionately from 7-17....... Now im 48 this year and I find myself relearning vert after over 30 years off and thinking I was retired from sk8ing. So yeah im experiencing the fear factor and progressing through that slowly as you are. Lol SO Godspeed to ya Adam. Can't wait to see you get those backside airs real soon champion! Great to see Andy Mac's explanations and insights. Possibly see if the laid back characters of Stevoe Cab or Lance Mountain could come join in!? More older legendary rippers to inspire. Oh! And JD teaching Andy Indy's was excellent viewing! Seeing that 'AA' is human! and not some sort of a robot like Nyja. Lol We heard exactly WHY he finds vert so challenging? The whole Canadian non- vert thing........ Yep your surroundings most certainly shape your sk8ing style and direction. Just as much as the decade you started! ........ 1980 baby! ✊ As much as you enjoy motivating and teaching younger groms. I hope you also understand Adam? That your ALSO helping bring old dudes like me BACK to it! 💣💥 👌👍🙏 I find it all interesting and inspirational so I thank you all. Used to be Sk8 or die? You still have Skate Lessons for Beginners? If so how Private Is Your Park? Hmm I really enjoy your stories. Stay Safe Brother! You should have Story Time with Aaron! Just tell a story about a random experience!

My first and only ramp was two doghouses that were two very different sizes with 3 sheets of plywood. One to the peak of each dog house and a flat in the middle. It was rough. And I really don't know how long it existed now that I think about it. Probably not long. But I loved it.

Glad your feeling better and giving yourself time to heal. At least you have a conversation starter now😂 maybe next video you could try powerslides with no bushings or something like that.
