They had it right. A video on identifying tricks and their names. I always had trouble identifying tricks but just kept watching new videos with trick names but for beginners seeing the names and the mechanics of these tricks will definitely ground them “like oh ok it’s not as impossible as it looks/ sounds” maybe one day I’ll go for a (whatever trick caught their attention).

This was a great video! I think a lot of people have a hard time with frontside/backside and fakie/switch/nollie so probably worth a tutorial tuesday video. Also if you guys wanna hire me as your producer I’ll make sure these games work smoothly! A tip would be to get two small whiteboards have them hide thier answers and show the white boards on the count of 3. You guys are awesome. Ricky was on the right path with something like: did the body spin, board, or both? Did the board flip? Were they going forward or switch. That can help break down a lot of tricks. 30 years into this and there's still debates on what things are called. When I was learning was when tricks had non-descriptive names: boneless, acid-drop, no-comply, madonna, ho-ho. Though one-footed ollies were not yet ollie norths, and 360 flips were not yet TREs.

Just watched the video. The best way to explain Front-side versus Back-side is on Transition. Are you facing toward the Coping or is your Back toward the Coping. Fun video...sometimes the difference between fakie and switch is tough to tell.

That explanation of backside vs frontside, ok, but what stance do you skate? I feel like that needs a more complicated explanation... In skateboarding, we do almost everything off the back foot/tail, so if your back foot or tail moves in front of you, it's front side, and if your back foot or tail moves behind you, its backside. It can be confusing because in some tricks like the frontside shuvit, the board will go behind you, but that's because you've pushed your back foot forwards.
