It’s so nice how you tuned it properly to have a nice even tone and decay. So many people have their tunings off and get wobbly overtones and it drives me nuts. SUCH a good snare sound ❤️

Thanks for the kind words Garrett! The pressure's on when making a sample pack. I'd say the actual samples are even a little more dialed in than the demo here.

I’m a Tama guy from way back, and have drooled over a bell brass since my teens. I admit up front I’ve never played a heavy cast snare of any kind. And I also admit my recording studio time is scant. This snare sounds great. But with this much recording gear, couldn’t a good engineer get a good sound out of any decent snare? Put a die cast on a Black Beauty and I think the sound would be close for a whole lot less. Cool snare, for sure. $17k? Maybe as a collectable, but if I just want a similar sound I’m looking for something cheaper.

You can get heavy cast bronze snare drums from other companies like Gretsch and PDP. There are also boutique snare drum makers like K Wat Drums who have heavy bronze offerings for less than $1500. Keep in mind that you’re paying for a shell made from B20 cymbal alloy.

Not enough, and never again. 😅 In any other scenario I would always rerecord, but simply didn't have that option with these specific vids. It was a huge PITA and we should all appreciate those that do ADR regularly lol.

@ColeParamore jeez I can only imagine, I'll be sure to check it out, I recently pulled the trigger on a black beauty and I have been loving it! Put the new p86c throw off on it and some canopus wires, dude it sounds killer, I'm gonna be making some videos on it myself, been practicing like a mad man to get my game up before I put out any more vids. Next year I'll probably start up again!

Now you can just get a bell brass sample (there are thousands now) and use that and then you have the sound. Let's be real everyone uses samples now anyway. If you want to compete anyway. Same with preamps now. I have SSL and API etc. my Audient asp880 sounds just as good. The high price gear thing is bragging rights only. Times have changed.

🤯17GRAND?!?! 🤷♂️Surely most snares can be made to sound like most other snares with enough time and consideration spent on choice of heads and tuning…?🤔
@WyattBrown3776 ай бұрын
I haven't played a bell brass but from what I understand the 3mm shell has a tone and volume like nothing else. For reference I think a standard supralite or black beauty is 1.3mm and cheaper metal drums are typically 1mm. But $17k is crazy, you're paying for the name and history. You can find imitations from other companies for far cheaper.
