Fab video Dave. Occasional video series with updates on the tapes would be great. Thanks for all you do.👍

Dave My Friend, Fantastic , Amazing Collection of So Many Tapes, what to do Dave, you could include them into your collection, the history of his life and all he listened to , maybe check into radio stations to see if they are interested, I don’t know I’d keep them , Dave Takecare, Be safe, Peace and Love, Bless You, Your Friend Forever, Steve

Dave, that later U.S. Beatles CD box has the standard 2009 Remaster versions not the original Capitol Dexterised versions. The original 1st 2 volumes of the Capitol CD albums were the orig. U.S. mono and stereo mixes. As regards those cassettes I would pick out the interview/documentary/live concert ones and digitise them onto your computer and USB drive as lossless audio files. You can then listen to them out and about on your phone or media player. You could also maybe play a few snippets on your You Tube videos. I've done it with a few my old cassettes by simply connecting a Phono RCA (L & R) lead from my deck into my PC's 3.5mm jack Line-in socket and used the free program Audacity to record them, edit and clip them, save them onto a lossless format e.g WAV or FLAC. You obviously have to record in real-time, but you can start it and go off for 45 minutes and do something else.

Yes I'm looking at doing something like that with the cassette's once I've gone through them all, thank you for the information and comments, very much appreciated, cheers, Dave 😊

I can appreciate the idea of preserving the tapes and its nice to keep that collection together. I think you're right-there is likely some historical significance in the details hidden in those tapes. The storage of all those tapes would be a challenge for me. AND...come to think of it....I'm certain I no longer have a tape player! A lot of good that lot of tapes would do me! Enjoy!

About five years ago I used to go to car boot sales in St Helens. I found a completely irresistible item a box set of ALL the Beatles radio broadcsts. It is by an Italian maker. But I was thinking if you had this set ( don't know if you do) it would probably cover your off air tapes.so they would be pretty much redundant. Having said that this Italian box would set you back a bit. I paid about 120 pounds just from a car boot seller.

@davehealey2397Ай бұрын
Thanks for the video. Always interesting to see what you are up to! Regardingly the tapes: I would not make a snap decision. It probably does seem like an overwhelming task, but it does not need to be. I would firstly go through them all and catalogue them by title or the information written on them and put them in an order, as you would with your records. You can then, in your own time, work your way through them and perhaps include a brief description of the contents so that you know the source (radio station/DJ etc.) if you can identify it, and perhaps a track listing if it is a concert for example. It may be possible to get some background information from the web to help you. The thing is to not let it become a chore. Do it at your own pace. I'm not convinced that necessarily giving them to a radio station would be the best thing. If it becomes a burden then your local authority may have an archive who would accept them. But, what you have to appreciate is, you probably have more interest in them and their contents than someone you may give them to! Why not just play one or two when you have a little spare time and include a brief report in your videos as you go along. If there is a particularly large series then maybe that would warrant a whole video. As you rightly say some of the stations may no longer exist and possibly neither do the master tapes.

I think eventually I will transfer them to digital files,but that's for the future, I'm looking forward to going through them all, thank you so much for your comments very much appreciated, take care, cheers, Dave 😊

Fantastic treasure trove there. A lot of it is possibly unique. I would digitize them and build a library. If it takes a couple of years to get through them all then so be it.

Hi Dave, sounds like a great tape collection. That's going to take you forever to go through them and find out what's on them. Maybe when you've done that, the ones you want to play again, get them digitised and converted into audio files so you can play them on your laptop. Then you can store the tapes away. As for what Beatles cds will be released next year, i hope we get a remastered or remixed anthology box set with the three double albums because 2025 will be 30 years since anthology 1 was released.
@beatledavetherecordcollectorАй бұрын
Yes a lot of cassettes to go through, but I'm so happy to have them, I was thinking about the anthologies the other day, and yes maybe Apple 🍏 might do something,it would be nice, take care, cheers, Dave 😊

Good of you to keep those tapes together. I, for one, would love a series featuring you listening to these tapes one or two at a time. It would be wonderful if all of them could be saved electronically and catalogued, but that would probably take a staff of technicians and documenters! I'm somewhat excited by the US mono records, but I doubt I'll be able to afford the boxset. I will definitely pick up a record or two, though! Thanks for another fun and interesting video, Dave!

Hi Dave, that’s a very interesting collection you pulled in. The interviews and live albums would be of most interest to me. Funnily enough, I pulled in a big collection too yesterday. I’m also in the same boat that I don’t know what to do with them all… I’ve picked up hundreds and they take up loads of room. Might do a video today. Cheers, Jack

Hi Dave, another great video. With regards to the tapes, if you didn't want to keep them, then maybe you could send them to Apple or if there is an official Beatle archive, they might like them. Yes, it is important to keep them together. They just need putting in some sort of date order. Which is probably impossible, unless the date of recording is written down. If you know some fellow Beatles fans locally, you could send them a few each to listen to. Share the task. Yes, I would be interested in the mini series. Maybe you could play some excerpts. Turning to the US Beatles LP's. I can understand the dilemma. But as you've already got them, then your hard earned money would be better spent on something you haven't got. Also if you were to buy them separately, then you have to consider (1) the extra postage in doing it this way and (2) will they sell out before you can get them all? So if you do decide to get them, the box set would be the way to go. Plus they will be in a special box, which of course you wouldn't get with buying them one by one.
@SteveOSpielbergАй бұрын
That is reely good collection. Is there any Beatles archive group that would know how to cherish this find?

I think you have to listen to them to really know what you’ve got before you can figure out where they should go. Maybe separate them out into categories. You don’t want any history that you have there being lost now that you are the caretaker of the collection.
