You should team up with Colin Furze to build a fighter jet. He builds you a nice jet engine, you build the plane to put it in.
@Turkishmath

Pulsejets are notoriously inefficient and loud. Not going to happen.
@knightshousegames
@knightshousegames 6 жыл бұрын
I didn't say pulse jet. Turbo Jet son, with an afterburner, like a proper fighter jet.
@Turkishmath
@Turkishmath 6 жыл бұрын
You and I both know that a turbojet is outside the realm of what Colin can put together. Also, weight constraints, fuel costs, avionics equipment will quickly blow up any budget that a youtuber can muster. Maybe buying a mig corpse and rebuilding it would be in the realm of possibility, but still a long shot.

....Did you not see him build a turbojet engine out of a car turbo, a toilet paper holder and duct tape?
@Knasen3

AFriendlyMathematician, he actually has built several turbojets. Not that they are that powerful. But definitely more power per kg than a pulse jet.

If FAA has it's way.. They most likely will have support from congress this time, and have already started to bombard them with fear mongering techniques. look up FAA UAS symposium and 336. They are directly considering taking away the hobbyist's protection from the FAA given to them by congress. Does not matter much, as the FAA violated their congressional mandate, and continues to do so anyway. Just look what they have done to GA. Pretty much killed it for America.

Mad props for building your own foam ultralight and flying it! I watched the Oshkosh interview and was dissapointed to only see it get 20 ft off the ground, but in this video you flew it high and smooth...congrats! In the Oshkosh video, you were mentioning it had alot of drag, and it made me wonder if you really needed two wings to get enough lift...i thought if you built something more like a Kitfox or a Zenith 750 it would fly faster/ higher/ more efficiently. At 6'2" and 330 lbs i'll not be building one similar anytime soon...i'll stick with 1/4 scale FPV UAV's and underwater ROV's. If i ever do build a plane it'll be a Zenith 750 STOL clone. Probably with a Subaru engine. And lose the extra 130 lbs...lol.

Every time I see this bird fly, I feel this ethereal mix of disbelief, awe, excitement, fear for a friend, giddiness, wanting to be there in that cockpit doing the same... I struggle for words to describe. Thanks again for not only *doing*, but also *sharing* this project with all of us over the last year. Am truly honored to have helped in my small way... Congrats on the successful event at OshKosh... glad to see you and bird on ground in one piece; or, rather all appropriate pieces in appropriate places. ;-)

You don't need a big place to build it, you can just make it a plane you have to assemble, if you have a backyard and a large vehicle it'll be possible. Although this is a plane we're talking about so you have to get a lot of knowledge on theory and practical+engineering skill.

If you can, I found plans for an rc turbojet engine that uses kerosene or jet fuel, and runs efficiently. The problem is, you need very expensive sht to create hardened carbon steel and also a CNC mill to shape the turbines and compressors. But I'll send it anyways if you need one.

Brilliant design on aerodynamics & overall safety but y u hate structure engineering On strong wind it will disintegrate in the air. U got to give few cross members otherwise nothing stops a sq from turning into a parallelogram. 2 struts needed from front of plane to leading edge of top wing alongside windshield.1 cross member b/w the upper & lower wing 1 cross member from nose of plane to the wheel axle. Cross members will take out bending moment from all members & all will become tension/ compressions members. Remember things r 100 times stronger in tension than bending

I believe it will be really cheap and efficient, disclaimer I'm recommending you build a giant rc model, not risk life and limb climbing into a flying wing.

As a first-time visitor to your channel, the cinematic opening of the hangar door to reveal a wizzing little puddle-jumper flying off was pure gold. I laughed so hard.

That ultralight plane is more like the aviation equivalent of a go-kart or dirt bike, not a car. A Cessna 172, which is kind of like aviation's Honda Civic, costs tens of thousands of dollars used (or hundreds of thousands new).

The MK 1 --- 2nd Flight needs it's own separate Video {imho}. This is by far the most impressive accomplishment of yours to date. Your Piloting was much much better and the flight was equally 1,000 times more impressive than the original MK 1 flight. Great Job Peter Sripol and Crew ! ...... You will Go Far young Man and Crew. Congratulations !

Due to a recent surgery, I couldn't make it to Oshkosh like I planned. I was really looking forward to meeting you, so I hope I can see you there next year! Plus I'd love to see your latest crazy project next year as well! I hope to see you then!

I started building my own airplane at age 13, I never finished it, lol. My father was an aviation enthusiast, and he was supportive of my endeavors, but looking back, I could tell he was concerned for my safety, since he went and bought an ultralight just so we could go flying together. I miss those days

Hey. Besides you being awesome and all that amazing stuff you accomplish, I just wanted to say that I believe you made the right call by not flying it for the sake of safety. Those kind of choices will make sure you stay in the game for the long run, also it promotes a healthy attitude towards safety and serves as an example to other aviators out there! Good on you!

Glad to see the bi-plane fly in an extended segment. I liked how you could see the turbulence of the wing as you came low over the crop before landing. You are an engineering rockstar. Foam version of Draco perhaps for your next project? Stay safe and stay on top of the risk assessments.

A few questions: 1. What is the highest you've taken it? 2. Why do you fly so low? 3. What is the furthest you have gone from the aerodrome?

I know you don't need me to tell you this, but you're going places man. A lot of us live vicariously through your channel and appreciate all the work you put into this content. Been here since day one when you were Foam and Tape. The name is still pretty apt haha. I used to dream of doing what you're doing as a kid and between a dead end long hours job and home life I still can barely fly my quad acro and haven't touched a plane. Anyway, thanks for all the content!
