Sometimes I find myself wondering. If he had 1 machine working super slow, could he beat it out for making his scaled up production before it finishes the elevator
@JayteeStarr Жыл бұрын
Same! It drives me crazy how much effort he puts in to have everything down to it's maximum x/min, but then spends a year sending those parts into the ticket booths. If he accounted for the amount of minutes he spent doing other things, this series would have been so much more compact, lol.
@puppergump4117 Жыл бұрын
He'd have to spend at least 60,000x the amount of time it takes for a single thing to be made. Given that it takes 32 seconds with a manufacturer, a single machine would take 22 days to finish. With 750 per minute, it only takes 42.6 minutes.
@quentinking4351 Жыл бұрын

Forgot to comment about "combining" belts using Smart Splitters and Mergers - You will ALWAYS be losing throughput if you try to merge onto a belt that is more than 1/2 full, because although the Smart Splitter can handle "overflow", there is no "smart merger" to handle "underflow", Stin Archi demonstrates various techniques with 6+ splitter/mergers as well as daisy-chained industrial storage containers, both of which are incredibly bulky, but reliably provide an underflow feature (after a bit of startup lag). I've made sure to ONLY use mergers for belt combining onto an initially full belt AFTER I've removed 60, 120, 270, or 480 items, and can thus guarantee no oversaturation with a Mk1,2, 3 or Mk.4 belt, respectively. If I want to, I can split off as little as 20, by taking a 60 belt, splitting into 3x Mk.1, sending one to the other belt merger, and the other 2 back onto the same belt merger. It's bulky, and generally doesn't get you much, so I find that technique best used for fine granularity of control at the Miner, to pre-balance belts. For example, I do this with my max-Bauxite belts, so I have 16 balanced belts and 1 carry-over belt. Then I do a 1-to-16 splitter to ensure the 17th belt is split evenly, so I have 16 sections in my factory. I've also done the simple single slow-belt merger in coal power plants with 3+ full belts of compacted coal or petroleum coke. Or you can put an additional smart splitter on the first belt, BEFORE the merger, and send the overflow to a belt you split off much later... but then it becomes a chicken and egg, tail chasing endeavor... Meh, anyways...

I might've missed this in earlier episodes, but what is the production target for these items? 1 end-stage product per minute? Complete the stage in 10 minutes of work, so ~200-500 per minute? You could technically beat the game with a few small chains of production, without this scale, so I'm wondering what the production rate target is. Great stuff!

Scaling up from space elevator 3 to 4 always feels like such a wall. Looking at the requirements and seeing you need to repeat what you just did 3x AND integrate it into a new factory just makes me want to give up. And I always have. I've never gotten past phase 3 even though I restart, thinking I'll have learned from the past, but even then that was a struggle. Simply not organised enough to carry through with it.
@Vaelosh4664 ай бұрын
I'd suggest you start by setting up production lines at whatever efficiency to feed one or two production buildings making the final space elevator products. At that point you at least feel like you are moving toward the end goal whenever you're in the game, albeit slowly, so improving the production lines feels like you're sliding down the hill faster, not climbing a wall.
