9:48 Tyler I built this same model about three weeks ago. I used all of the clay for one projectile. Also if you adjust the torsion they will go farther. Lastly you seem to be missing a small piece of rubber that is on the piece that the arm hits so it’s not bounding as badly when a shot is made. Cool project though hope you enjoyed building it. JB

the fun part was building it, maybe tighten up the strings for more flex on the rods, to allow more spring action to the fling
@Denathorn2 жыл бұрын
Little tip, not really specific for metric, but handy to know... You mentioned the measurements on your laminate cutter start at 30mm, which threw you off... Which is fair enough... Generally though, when doing "precision" measuring with a tape on smaller scales, or if a tape measures numbers are getting worn at the front, I start the measure at the 100mm (10cm) mark, measure, then knock off the 100mm (10cm), much easier, and you get a better measure as it cuts out the wiggle of the hook. Nice vid by the way, agree the fun really is in the building... Which makes me wonder if you can get one for a 3D printer? Which, there's an idea... Build and test 3D printed tools? Thingyverse is full of these things! ;)

I have this same kit. Crank it all the way down and make smaller projectiles. It’ll launch a good 15-20 feet. Also, there should have been a foam pad in the kit to glue to the top of the stopper to keep the arm from slamming too hard.

Lmao great video! 2 things, 1, the rope is at the bottom of the lever so you can put it thru the eyelets and stand behind it and pull. Ya know, like a pulley system kinda. 2, a catapult is just to launch like a bunch of flaming shit into someone’s castle. Not really for battering power, although they could sling a rock thru my house I’m sure. Anyways thanks for being a KZbinr! Love ya man!

I'm pretty sure if you loaded them plastic BB's in it that you use for Air Soft the catapult would launch them pretty far and fast and I'm sure if you cut the clay into like an 8th of the length of clay that would probably be the perfect size to make ammo for the catapult
@nourmasalkhi90042 жыл бұрын
My brother in Christ. You're supposed to pre-tension tension the drum. Glue it all together and tension it so that the planks are bent, just shy of snapping off, when the spoon is in firing position.

You didn't put enough tension on the torsion planks, the vertical boards should be slightly bent when the catapult is 'disarmed' chech the instructions once again, it specifically says not to use too much tension, but there should be a slight bend to the torsion planks.

@Dubdan092 жыл бұрын
Cut the two tall pieces that hold the strings so they are shorter👌 they will store more energy and snap back upright quicker 😉 could also put a counter weight on the drum part so it turns faster. Just a few ideas 😅
@dodge88022 жыл бұрын
or even swap the two vertical pieces for some thing sheet metal and pretension the string on the drum so even before you load it has some tension
@PartialDemon2 жыл бұрын
I believe shortening the "limbs" would decrease their flexibility thus reducing the amount of potential energy they can store. Try to think of it like the limbs of a bow and arrow, long bows always shoot farther than short bows (made of the same material) because the limbs bend further and store more energy.
@heypaul76462 жыл бұрын

Da Vincis war machine inventions were actually always built to be somewhat off and wrong so they wouldn't actually be able to be used. So the pull string would actually go the other way, you are right about that. He would have done that in reverse on purpose so whoever tried to use it for harm would be harmed themselves. Same with his "tank" design. The drawings he did of that one make the wheels un usable. so you would have to know how to fix it if you had the knowledge while building it.
