@@summer.bubble.tea. Yeah I was similar. We had 2 minutes to get from class to class and that was ridiculous.. in middle school the building was a large sprawling mess of hallways. If you ran you'd get in trouble.. if you didn't run you'd get in trouble for being late.. in the intermediate school it was even worse where you had 2 minutes to get from floor 3 to the basement on the entire opposite side of the building for a class.. First day of the year that happened for me I told the teacher that I'm going to be late every single day because I'm not running that. He just agreed and said he won't mark me late lol

Popular thing I love to add to the schools. A "nurses" office. A little place in the school that has a bed in it, decorated like a typical highschool's nurse's office. Good place if your sim is exhausted or uncomfortable

@@sierragarcia3163 having a nurse's office in public is literally super. I also do this, even in other packs like the university commons and recreation center. just needs healthcare NPC, sims 4 need not to shy away from sickness and disabilities gameplay

@Eventide215
@Eventide215 4 ай бұрын
Yeah in my real life school the nurse's office was 4 rooms connected.. a little waiting area, the actual room where she'd give you whatever you need and look you over, a supply room, and another room with 4 beds in it so you could lay down if needed. There were a few times I ended up in one of those beds just from exhaustion or feeling sick.
@idwtbkabbam
@idwtbkabbam 4 ай бұрын
@@Eventide215 That's crazy! Is that just because regular health care is inaccessible/expensive for students? How often were these 4 beds occupied? Where I live, you just go home when you're sick and it's up to the parents to look after you. I'm in the Netherlands, so most kids that were sick just cycled back home. Some were picked up by their parents if they were really hurt.
@TasteThaKayla

@idwtbkabbam usually id lie down in the nurse's office just for long enough for the nurse to call my mom and her to come pick me up. its a good place to rest and wait for your ride. america is too car-centric for us to bicycle home; we live way too far from the school for that

Finnish schools (elementary and middle/lower secondary schools actually have wood working classes and there are the rooms just like the one you built (but they are usually in first floor or even more often in a basement). We also have textile art/work class (separate from arts class where you would paint and draw mostly, maybe craft if you were young). In these classes knitting and sewing are teached. As you get older you get to choose if you want to do more wood working or textile and historically of course it has been heavily endorsed for boys to do more wood working and for girls to do more textile work but nowadays I think even mixing the two means of working in a project has been endorsed. In New England it’s around Labor Day, traditionally as soon as the growing season is over. It’s September-May I do like the idea of adding random skills. A lot of schools used to have like home Ec and woodworking. Plus it’s hard to get a lot of the skill items in houses since they’re huge and expensive, I like having them available places. Same with the bed in the nurses area, having places where sims can meet their needs is wildly helpful.

this seems like a good time to talk about my high school accessibility nightmares. my school was under construction for most of my time there. my senior year my classes were all on the second floor of a new building. when school started in september, the elevator wasn’t operational. i was told it would be by my second week of school. november. november is when it was working. by this point i was incredibly relieved, i was missing class most days because i couldn’t walk up the stairs. the elevator worked for a week before they installed an employee key card scanner. my teachers tried to unlock it for me, but the teachers key card didn’t have access, we think they installed it without programming it. i dropped out a couple weeks later lol.

Here in Brazil we start the school year generally in January/February(after Carnaval), we have vacations in the middle of the year, in July, get back in August until December, and it goes like this at least until high school. I do Public University, which is a very prestigious institution here(and thank god it’s free, cause I had no condition to get these students loans I’ve known USA students take), and the calendar started just a little after the normal period for the other students, but it depends if we got some strikes or not (cause it happens, a lot)

Love this! In my HS edit, I used the default build but made the upstairs bigger and redid the basement a lot. I added upstairs a science lab with an attached horticulture room like my high school had, a woodshop/crafting room, and a "media immersion" room inspired by Degrassi: The Next Generation where they learn tech production skills; so I added things in there like the video station and the music production station. I made a debate room and I amped up the music and art classrooms and the basement weight room. I always add a research machine to the computer room and decorate the basement a bunch, but I've never fully rebuilt cause it's intimidating!! I've played storylines with Jeb Harris when their power got shut off staying overnight at the school and making friends with the Janitor (for storyline purposes) so he could hang around the lot overnight.

Also my high school had to install cameras because we (the theater kids) would take chairs and climb the trees on the side of the building and have tea parties up in the trees with the chairs, and we eventually unbolted a latch to get onto the auditorium roof very similar to your little roof hangout spot and we all wrote our names up there and would sneak up there after school when we worked on the musicals.

My high school started after Labour Day but even then it was like a half day to get class schedules and pick your locker. I’m surprised you didn’t make like a main office to take up space because the second floor of my high school was primarily that. It had secretary space, the principal’s office, the vice principal’s office, the nurse’s office, and the guidance counsellors offices (we had two). This is also what made the fact their isn’t art tables or science tables for teens in this game. It’s only for kids, which is kinda crazy, especially since they would’ve fit pretty okay into this pack.

In Bavaria it still goes until September 9, from July 29 on. It's very different every year. Then we have two weeks each in autumn, over christmas in the winter and in the spring during easter. The exact options vary depending on where you’re attending, but my high school let you choose between morning and afternoon classes, except for senior year, when we’d all go in the morning but stay there till later (around 4 p.m., I think? If you want to use a different desk for the principle, what I did was I shrunk the required one down, and the used move objects to put the desk I wanted over it. You can still see the shrunk desk if you look under the desk, but if you use a desk that has a back to it, you can only really see it from one angle. So you can place it in a way that most people won't be looking under the desk

In Argentina our school year starts around the first week of March and ends on the first or second week of December. We have winter holidays the last two weeks of July. About the building, the school I went to specifically was kind of weird. It was like a giant square with the patio inside, and we shared the space with old people who lived on half of the building, the other half was our school and a Church. I can't imagine being retired and having to live surrounded by kids and teenagers 😂. We didn't have a cafeteria, in middle school we started class at 1PM so we just had lunch at home, but in high school we just ate at our desks. Sound kind of sad now that I'm mentioning it lol. We also don't have chess clubs, no gym, no lockers and no art room. We do most stuff in the same classroom. The only separate rooms we had were the lab, the music room, the computer room and a sort of auditorium. Loved the video btw, Can't wait to download this HS!Sorry my comment was lengthy 😅

ooo one of my favorite rooms in high school was the props and costumes “closet” for the auditorium. it was like a small room with tons of costumes, craft supplies, set pieces, maybe a makeup station. that could be a good filler room if anyone can’t think of one

I find that for North American High Schools (I am in Canada) the further north you go the more likely your school will be a single building rather than a campus. The higher the likelihood for snow, the less outside walking you need to do. I don't think it's a perfect formula but I have never seen a Canadian high school that has more than one building UNLESS there were mobile classrooms to help with overcrowding. I had one huge building for my high school with attached soccer field (We don't do football) and a nearby baseball diamond that was part of a community civic centre. As for back to school It's usually after labour day in my area.
