I went back and forth on a couple of ideas. Adafruit has LED backlight panels that I thought I would use but they turned out to be too wimpy for something this size. Translucent red plex might have been better but I didn't have any handy and found some colored plastic binder dividers... necessity and invention. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers!

I love it! And yet I can't stop looking at that stormtrooper who seems to know someone's coming but he's still holding his gun in his right hand which means he cannot shoot without stepping out of cover and... yes I am autistic, deal with it. Also: now I want to make booknook, so thanks for that.

I always have scenarios and stories going on in my head as I work on these things. Does Mando suspect there's someone waiting? Did that mouse droid tip him off? Looks fantastic and great theme. Nice details and the lighting adds so much to it. Which laser cutter are you using and do you like it or would buy a different one?

I have an Orion Motor Tech 50W with a 12" x 20" bed. I love it but it's huge... shoulda read those dimensions before ordering and then measured the space I had. It's pretty capable out of the box with the water and little air pump it ships with but I've added a larger compressor, water cooler, and air filter so I don't end up with complaints from the neighbors. It's an investment to be sure but it's amazing if you're doing a lot of model making where you need to cut intricate flat shapes. I'm not sure if I would go a different route. I think 50 watt is about as low as I would go on power. If I look at the big things... laser, water cooler, compressor, air filter... I'm probably about $4,500 into the whole thing. It's a lotta money but it's a more capable machine than the Glowforge Pro at around $7K with another $1,200 for an air filter (the Glowforge Pro does have pass-through but is a 45 watt laser). As a tool, if you sell things you make, I think it's one that could earn it's keep and pay itself off pretty quickly. One of the things I absolutely love about laser cutting is how fast you can whip up designs... it's 2D!!! I love my 3D printer(s) too but 3D just adds that literal extra dimension of complexity in designing and fabricating. Maybe I should do a video on my laser cutter :)! Thanks for asking!
