dude, this is awesome. Came from Reddit and I appreciate the TNG Nerd fandom you are, as I am also one. I had those shuttles back in the day too when I used to build a PC like that to game at work on the 3rd shift. they were great at the time, and honestly would still be popular today with the ITX fanatics. it was simple purpose built machines.

First of all, every bit of this is genius. I love it and I love you! Second of all... There are four lights... I see what you did there! I was pretty proud of my aquarium PC I made that time. I just put my motherboard and all the parts inside a clear plastic bin and cut all kind of fish and see creature decals and some scuba divers and bubbles to put on the side and put some LEDs in there. But that was nothing compared to this project! Wow...that was a lot of work! And I love your use of the transporter during your description of the process! All around great job! Kudos!

Jay! Great vid! The binding issue on the spool rails is an odd issue. Is it prevalent with most types of 3D printers? Mild chamfer on the spool hole cutouts that run on the track may alleviate the problem.
@PNPRetro Жыл бұрын
Hey Walter! Thanks for watching! This is the first time I've run into this particular filament issue. Essentially it was a pretty full roll of filament, and, when the print head moved full left to full right, it created enough slack that the filament was able to unwind a coil off the side of the spool, which then tightened up around the spool holder. I should have better restrained the filament path, but I was tired. Live and learn :)

What a fantastic project - that's a very clever design and it looks like a better version of one of the old Playmates toys from the 90s. How did the thermals hold up? It looks like your thermal design is pretty clever and should give a decent amount of airflow to the board.
@PNPRetro Жыл бұрын
They ended up well within the safety margins of the components, but it is a little toastier than I would like (65 to 70 degrees under load). I've got ideas for V2 though ;)
