Hey everyone! I am finally back in my own Scrap Mechanic Survival world and today I decided to tackle some really cool base building! Not only did I finally install the wings mod so that my ship and boat can have propellers, but I also built a massive dock with an awesome drawbridge! What you built is technically called a wharf as it is built along the shoreline. If it was built straight out from the shore it is called a pier. Naval lingo and such.

I think the wings mod was the right move for you in this series. Scrap Mechanic has too much grind as it is without having to worry about crazy fuel costs. Now you can focus on the fun parts of the game. Great job on the dock!

Your lights disconnected when you took the post piece out to weld the bridge together, as the posts are what you linked together underground.

bow steering is definitely required. I made a ship on raft mech that has a prop on each corner. The opposite corners spin for a nice tight turn radius, and then using a double bearing system, you can activate both port, or starboard sides to allow strafing.

you should put small tires on the post of the bridge on water level so it looks like you wont damage anything

Why not put your beacon on top of the radio tower. And place some of the blue crates along the edge of the dock to use as bumpers for the big boat.

Should we start a fresh world for chapter 2? I spent insanely much time on the same spot just a few hundred meters from the first gas stadion because the spot is perfect. It sucks to loose all stuff that require grinding ( like 20 level 5 thrusters and a long half finished concrete 3 wall, automatic glowb-farm with 24 glowbugs, and all my illegal warehouse loot)

I love this piston design, I just wish you made it more complex where you extend to piston design so it also folds in half like: ___/\ /\___ No idea how you would do that though but I think it'd look sick. Perhaps it'd be pistons on the underside? When the top ones retract, the bottom ones extend.

@Kosmonaut I'm testing it out now but i can't seem to figure out how to get the middle part to lay flat using only pistons. For an underside, you would need a hydraulic-based system. Which would be easily doable except for the actual welding part. Scrap mechanic doesn't let you extend the piston out to weld weld it at the desired length. This is where I am stuck at now. I'm gonna try unmodded glitch welding just to see if I can get that to work (never glitch-welded before, this is the first time the game is forcing me to learn how). What started as an idea for you has turned into a personal challenge for me. If you got an ideas of how to tackle this, lmk. As it stands, the loop-based system is only good for "pulling" it up, the 2nd part is just too floppy. >.

@Kosmonaut I figured out a method, and it was alot simpler than I was making it out to be, lmk if you want me to send you a video of the build. SM doesn't run well for me but you were right about the lag. Tho, you could probs find ways to optimize the concept. It runs fine when you tick the gameplay options to be 1 under max ("advanced") physics setting (which would be 8). Rather than a hydraulic design, I went with guiding rails on the side where it's rested to the dock base (the part that doesn't move).

I haven't got time to redo the failed transport helicopter yet, but it sucks that the mass of a fruit/veggie-container isnt available. It forces us to trial and error how to thruster-equip a flying machine. (I am going to do it vanilla)

Been forever seeing building episode also the lights disconnected because you removed the wood that was connecting them together on the pipe as long as you don't remove that pipe or wood it should not disconnect
