I Built a STONE & WOOD Survival Bushcraft Shelter Deep in a Wild Forest - FULL VIDEO

In this video, I embark on a solo journey to build a stone and wood survival bushcraft shelter in a beautiful forest. First, it took me a while to find out the location where I was to build the shelter. The location was great as there were tall trees, running water, plenty of wood for fire, and moreover, stones to build the hut. I set up my camp among the trees and started planning how to carry out my project.
There was a seasonal creek a short distance away. It had brought down boulders because of flash floods and scattered them along its course. However, the boulders were worn smooth and eroded, and they didn't work the way I expected. The biggest challenge was collecting the stones from the creek and nearby places. It took me a great deal of time; it was time consuming and labour-intensive. Luckily, there were cut out logs not far off; I made my mind to make use of them in the hut to minimize the use of stones. I rolled down as much as I could and erected them in the walls.
The soil was alluvial and lacked adhesiveness. It was a real problem. What’s more, there was a tree-dwelling squirrel which not only walked away with my food-stuffs from time to time but also disturbed my sleep in the night. Typically feeding on nuts and seeds, it had sensed edibles down in my camp and couldn't resist. Whenever I would go to collect stones or bring logs, I would have been apprehensive about it.
Once the walls were completed, I cut logs from fallen trees and then put the roof on the shelter. I used pebbles to cover the small gaps between logs; mortared them and then spread dried leaves of pine on it. Next, I put a tarpaulin and covered it with leaves of spruce tree. After that, I put mud on the leaves and gave the shelter a flat surface.
Meanwhile, the weather turned bad and it began to snow. I made a door for the shelter in haste; it wasn't perfect and substantial, I think. While I was still working on the door, a snowstorm hit out of nowhere. A seemingly unending stream of snowfalls started and disrupted my work. I was to make some necessary works inside the shelter. Meanwhile, the storm intensified.
Moreover, I was running low on food stuffs because some of it had been stolen by squirrels. So I reached a decision to leave.
Join me in the building of this unique bushcraft survival shelter. Like, comment and don't forget to subscribe for more exciting adventures. Please don't forget to turn on notifications so you don't miss any of my adventures.

Hot DANG. That is not a shelter. That is a bunker. It is extremely well constructed. While watching I was trying to think of ways to ease the carrying of tools, stone, and timber. Still made my back hurt. If I were only 50 or even 40 years younger. ............. Good job.

Nice work, although there are loads of vertical joints. Meaning there is zero strength in the structure. You should have read up on dry stone walking or wall building with stone in general. A hammer and a few chisels and this could have been impressive. The time this must have taken you I'd love for it to be done properly. For you to enjoy it for many many years. This building could have stood a long time. This will last a few years at most. The logs should have been charged in a fire as well to help prevent the moisture eroding the wood.

Was this stone walled cabin very warm in the sun? I was in a stone walled house once and it was as cold as a refrigerator. It was a big house and took a long time to warm up. A hole month to be exact with gas heaters. I think those was were 3 feet thick walls made of stone. Looks like the door hinge pins should be on the inside for security, but you aren't worried about that anyway. You could just cover them up with some 1 by 1. Oh the door opens outward, so you can't do that... Great job on creating a cabin though. It seems nice for a survival place...
