Yo noticed your creative use of hopper minecarts in the bulk shulker box display to make absolutely sure that it gets picked up! Also liked how the potion brewer was there and also the accessibility and i was confused why the halls were so wide so you cant access all chests in a slics from one space but i remembered that he needed to use the space for elytra use aswell so great job considering that! Also im confused about the unloading set up cause it also uses hopper minecarts but only uses 2 hoppers to pick up items from the hopper minecart per slice and i think only 2 hoppers isn't able to handle the hopper minecarts speed so can you reply to me how you do it? I'll really appreciate it cuz im also making a storage and its inspired by cubic meter and im looking for ways to improve Sorry if i got things wrong here and if i did pls tell me thanks! Amazing storage great job at considering the player aswell with the widened halls for the elytra and the convenient ways to access the bottom and the top of the storage!
@RadicalElder Жыл бұрын
Hi John, I'll let miben handle some of the more technical questions but let me answer what I can here. - Hopper MCs in the box display I don't think are necessary if you aren't using carpets? But that's the design I wanted to go with for my storage in particular and since lag is not an issue on my pc (4090, 128 ram, i9-13900) I didn't consider how it could work without them but it's def a nice to have for me personally. - The potion brewer and the layout did have to do a lot with my specs for the storage. In a lot of cases miben and I worked on this together and things like the enchanting table and potion brewer were components I wanted but in the end, the work to get them in was all his. Same with the nether portal and my design for the piglin trap. - The unloading setup is something I wanted on a storage like this because I'm not as concerned with "the technical storage" side of it. It's not about how it functions but how it plays. A lot of great tech sorters exist, like Krebs, and I could've built that and had all the latest/best/greatest tech but my plan was simply to build something that played how I do. So the unloader gets items out of the boxes and gets the boxes back to me. If I come home from a long outing with 8 shulkers of stuff, I can dump them in, empty them, and get them back into my echest for the next adventure while this actually finishes sorting at 1x speed. Speed for me was never a consideration and the reason for a lot of these design choices. - I use elytra even if it's to go 10 blocks away sometimes so the extra space was definitely needed haha. Miben plays the same way and we both love to use rockets to simply access ANYTHING ... you can see that as I build it here. I hope that helps with some of the questions. There are faaaaaaaaaaaar more impressive technical storages and we're both aware of that - but for my goals, my world and his, this is absolutely ideal in terms of build time, resources, and my own tech knowledge.

These are my notes on the Episode and as always thanks for watching! - All the schematics, item lists, etc. are over on Miben's video so check it out in the description. - The storage design was made for ease of building, not speed or any other requirement. It's NOT "modern storage tech" even though bits of it are. The unloaders are a feature that makes the storage APPEAR much faster than it is. I live stream. I do YT. Perception becomes reality. This is the right storage for me. - I built mooney mis v5 last world and when it broke I (basically) quit the world b/c I didn't want to, or know how to, fix it and even when I got help it didn't get fixed. Storage should ALWAYS suit the user. Check out radicalelder.info/ for updated schems, all social links and more!

Peepoclap I love that you explained the workflow re: the storage system materials gathering montage. Super helpful and I totally get wanting to squeeze as much out of the days as possible. Gosh. The froglights in the storage system though. How can I get froglights without dealing with frogs in a single player world...hmmge lol guess I will have to deal with them after all. I love the storage system so much. As I told Miben, the corners are my favorite. I love the concept of having work areas set up and just right there. Great storage! But i would recommend you to use a waterstream instead of a hopper line its faster and more lag efficent and its possible for the unloader too make the system overflow because hoppers can only transport 2.5 items per second so if you put 2or more in boxes of the same item it will overflow
@RadicalElder Жыл бұрын
Water streams lose items when the hopper line isn't fast enough to pick it all up. Super technical storages use dolphins and other ways of keeping items alive but I wanted something simple to build, easy to fix when things go wrong and super reliable. I've used water based in the past and I'm sure I will in future storage but it didn't fit the requirements for me today quite as well as this. :)

So I put the whole schematic into a creative flatworld, then I put a box around that made of froglights. I then deleted the storage and created my own schematic of JUST the light box. @RadicalElder Жыл бұрын
Nah, you're not wrong but I've answered this in a few comments already. Basically I care more about getting the boxes started and back to me than I care about how fast the last red carpet sorts or whatever. It *feels* fast and b/c I live stream and drop stuff then run, the sort speed doesn't matter as much as the play speed and this "plays" fast. :)

Bro i cant even think how much this must have took just a question how r u so good at redstone like i cant even build an automatic piston door without toturials
@RadicalElder10 ай бұрын
Well ... a lot of this storage is made of components that people had made such as Maizuma's Recategorizer for the MIS and then the 10x unloaders ... so from there it's mostly a matter of assembly rather than "redstone" in a lot of ways. The impulse filters are pretty common and "easy" to understand the more you use them and try to figure redstone out. For me, I'm more of an "I can kinda see what it's doing and walk through it" redstone person. I can "fix" redstone and understand it but it's beyond me to create a full storage from scratch. Also I got Miben's help on the redstone parts of this so mainly I had to source components, ideas for the parts, and do the item layout, testing, peripheral research and such. It was a team effort for sure. :)

You can but it just depends on your needs. This one is custom built for me so the strengths fit my playstyle, the weaknesses I don't care much about. (Weaknesses are I had to change the shulker loaders out for more reliable ones, the "unloading" set doesn't really need to be that dank as the speed of the system doesn't keep up anyways and the MIS is nobody but my favourite.)

Guys i have a question : what is the difference between bulk storage system and our standard storage system ( with comperator , redstone dust and repeater ) ?
@RadicalElder Жыл бұрын
So the bulk goes from a filter like impulse's into a shulker loader. Instead of storing items you're storing shulkers of items. The filters are the same here but the output is very different and it depends what I'm storing so cobblestone to shulkers but say repeaters to the chest itself.

Hi there are a few things i'd like to point out about your storage that doesn't make sense/isn't good 1. That shulker box loader loses shulker boxes 2. boxes from neighbouring slices in the shulker loader can end up in eac hothers hoppers (this is called slice preserving/non slice preserving) 3. you have 18x hopper speed in unloaders from the looks of it. however, you are distributing the items with hopper which work at 1x speed. Meaning the storage only works at 1x speed, it's not faster than if you used a single simple fullspeed unloader you could get the exact same speed as all of those unloaders you built 4. you used a hopper minecraft for each display in your storage, which ain't great because not only are hopper minecarts entities which are very bad for the client they also equal about the lag of 40 hoppers This is more of a non idlealic thing: 4.you aren't using ss2 ssi filters which only have 1 buffer vs your 40 buffers in ss3 filters (ss means signal strength) (ssi means signal strength isolated (IE the dust lines dont cross in SSI filters)) All this aside, I now it makes sense why you were in storage tech discord voice chat
@RadicalElder Жыл бұрын
Sorry I had to approve your comment b/c of the link and was on a long Twitch subathon so just getting to it now. Let me address as much of this as I can. 1. Yep, but I've used Borkon's loader for a couple years. Almost all of the (lost) boxes will go into the neighbouring slice. It's not perfect from a technical POV but because of my familiarity with it and familiarity with building it, I never seriously considered another loader for this particular storage. I can move boxes over one occasionally as a trade for simplicity (that'll be a recurring theme but bear with me) 2. Yes, exactly this. I am aware and this is a flaw of that loader but for my usage it is 100% "fine" and we accepted the compromise. 3. I'm unloading to get it "out of the way" and get the boxes back, rather than unloading for system speed. I would never recommend or use this system if speed was a consideration at all but for the way I play, miben plays and most of the survival and hardcore players I watch play, this works in actual gameplay. It's definitely not "storage tech" ideal by ANY stretch. I had a "buffer" on my previous unloader, liked how it worked, and requested it specifically. 4. I know ... this could be fixed and gets me into a more technically correct solution. As far as "storage tech discord VC" if I was in there, it was a misclick. I'm in the discord b/c I love it but have never chatted on voice with anyone in there. I could've easily dropped myself into a call by accident, though. lol ----------------- So let me lay out a bit more thought around the system just for our mutual understanding: I am aware of Krebs and all the other mainstream tech solutions. I built Mooney MIS v5 based off several recommendations in the Storage Tech discord in my last world and loved how it worked but it was A MAJOR pain for me to build and then troubleshoot when it screwed up. (I didn't unload it, I'm not looking to fix it now). I had Mooney give me some tips on it, I tried, it was still broken so I moved on. That being said, entering into this world I just wanted a system I fully understand. Something I could build in a reasonable time (this is finished before Day 1000 in a hardcore world. I do not think ANYONE has finished a more complicated storage in under 1000 Days in hardcore EVER. lol) To do Krebs, with my tech level, we'd be going into a MUCH longer and more resource intense build. I may do that in the future but for this project it was never a consideration. I can troubleshoot any part of this. I chose the MIS myself (Maizuma's Recategorizer) because I understand it, it's super easy to build and I can fix it if and when it breaks. And it probably will but that's fine. I couldn't fix Mooney's. I can't fix CartMIS. I mean I can but who wants to spend 500 days on a world fixing storage? Not this guy. haha I guess all that leads to the conclusion that ... this is the storage I needed and wanted to build for me at this time. It ticks every single box: it unloads MY inventory fast, it's simple to build, it has a MIS section that I understand, it's not 950+ Impulse slices, I have all the peripherals and extras I want, and it'll do for now. Sorry for the stupidly long reply but you left me a long comment and I wanted to answer the best I can, not the shortest I can. haha

What were the dimensions of the hollowed out area you carved before building the system itself?
@RadicalElder11 ай бұрын
I used a different schematic that I had built around it. There's a picture of it in my discord somewhere but basically I didn't use dimensions so I'm not sure. I used this specially carved box.

There's a simple solution for this video, it's called applied energitics or refined storage 😂😂😂

Modded is fun, too. Vanilla is what the vast majority still watches. I like both and have used both those systems. That doesn't mean a cool vanilla solution in a vanilla world is shit 😂😂😂

There is no way this shit doesn't lag your game out
@RadicalElder Жыл бұрын
lol I don't get lag at all. The hoppers are covered, which is the majority of lag in a system like this. It's big but it's fairly well taken care of. Also, I'm on a great pc so even if I took every composter out, it would be fine. I can probably get ... idk 600-800 FPS here?
@Aezzy Жыл бұрын
@@RadicalElder Yeah, I used to have a giant storage system on my 1500 days survival with a lot of item frames. I usualy get 150-600 fps but near the storage I had like 40-90 fps lol
@RadicalElder Жыл бұрын
@@Aezzy Oh item frames will definitely do that to you. I have display blocks anywhere I can but I do have *some* item frames in here. I definitely understand the concern for people who can get framey tho.

Not a pro but is it possible for all of the farm items goes to this storage directly?
@RadicalElder10 ай бұрын
Not really ... if you built this under let's say my mushroom island where 25+ farms are, the lag would get pretty bad and you wouldn't have the best experience ... it's possible to have *some* farms come into a storage like this but there's no realistic way to have "all MC farms" pipe to storage. It's *technically* possibly just not very wise.

@RadicalElder6 ай бұрын
* Collection of parts and planning starts at 0:00. * Storage build itself starts at 6:00. The froglights are needed to build the storage as sea lanterns don't work in the bulk shulker loaded section. It's not wasted time, it's step 1 of building this exact system.

The Problem on a Server is = lags
@RadicalElder4 ай бұрын
True although I have built this on my community server and the problem was using Paper to run the server lol But lag is def a consideration. This causes a LOT less lag in 1.21 than it did in 1.20 though.

@RadicalElder10 ай бұрын
Miben's video is a walkthrough with the litematicas and item lists attached to his video. I don't believe there are plans for a block by block tutorial but you really wouldn't ever build it that way. This requires litematica, I would think.

@@RadicalElder does it work on server or only in single player i build it on a server with the litemetica
@RadicalElder2 ай бұрын
It will work on a fabric or vanilla server. It won't currently work on Paper - well it will but not the MIS section. The rest works fine on Paper. If it's not working and you're on vanilla or fabric, it's built wrong or you missed something like prefilling shulkers, etc. (see Miben's video) If it's Paper, that's always the problem. See cubicmetre's video on Paper sucking for technical stuff. lol
