I suggest that you put some fuel tanks under the seats in the Infantry space, like, you can place the fuel tanks as blocks that can hold the benches, it will look cool and you will have more fuel.

If you use the "Sprocket" transmission setup menu as a guide, You can set up a transmission that works really good in stormworks. You need a reduction transmission to make small engines drive big vehicles. I would start with 3 Main gearboxes and a reverse gear for the transmission. The arrows need to be facing away from the engine. Set the OFF ratio on all of the forward gearboxes to 2:1, this will give you a reduction of 16:1 which means 16 rotations of the engine is one rotation of the wheels. Then set the On ratio 3:2 on each transmission and either use a counter to turn them on one at a time or just use buttons to turn each one on. Turning on all the gearboxes will give you a top gear ratio of 5.0625:1 which means for 5 rotations of the engine you get 1 rotation of the wheels. At 20 rps, which is a decent rps to run at with proper cooling, the wheels will be spinning at 3.9 rps. Depending on the diameter of the wheel, that should give you around 10 m/s? The ratios I said are just a starting point and can be changed depending on how it performs. Small engines tend not to like to run anything with wheels at or above 1:1 reduction unless it is a very small vehicle with small wheels. I would use a 5x5 radiator also BTW.

Also, No exhaust is usually just s sign of no combustion from no air or fuel. Adding a small pump for both will help ensure it is always getting the fuel and air the engine needs.

frantic heres a little explanation- usually many MBT's like the israeli Merkava or the Tam2 and most of the IFVs the engine as well as the radiator/fuel tank place Infront. and the driver is behind them, this is protecting the driver and the crew from Rounds like APDSFS or HEATFS or Hesh. and in some cases saving the crew from death.

Personally, I’d use a 3x3x1 engine and gear the stew out of it to get the right speed and power. Worst case you can extend the front a tad to fit a 3x3x3 engine. Then there will be no shortage of power. But generally I use about 4-5 gearboxes with land vehicles.
@EarlTheWhiteNinja Жыл бұрын
If I recall gearboxes correctly, the arrow pointing towards the engine is more RPS, whereas away is more torque, so from my understanding, two gearboxes facing the engine would give you more rps, or if they were faring away from the engine, more torque. It just depends on what you want, but personally I would say just one gearbox facing the engine is best because it multiplies the rps and divides the torque. I'll be honest, I'm not very educated in torque/rps, I'm just going off the basics I know, but u hope I was able to somewhat help
@steeljawX Жыл бұрын
Kind of. It's important that you clarify where this is occurring since there's an "equivalent exchange" going on. A gear box pointing back towards the engine will give the wheels more RPS for the rate of taking away RPS from the engine and adding a lot of torque to it. So the engine will struggle to get up to a good rate at full till, but your wheels will go like there's no tomorrow. A gear box facing towards your output (wheels, tank treads, or propellers) gives the output more torque and transfers more RPS to the engine. It's important to remember this exchange because while it seems fine and dandy to just stack a bunch of engine facing gear boxes maxed to a 3:1 ratio, if your engine isn't powerful enough, and most aren't, it's not going to work at full till (max gas and max clutch.) Using a combo of the two to get a kind of golden medium is ideal since you can get a kind of mid range ratio with the addition and subtraction of one to another. TL;DR, facing the engine means more RPS to the output and more torque to the engine. Facing the output means higher engine RPS but more output torque.

I wish there was a small gimble camera. That's technically what you would want on the front, something with zoom and a small degree of movement, but all we got is either a massive gimble cam or slapping that medium cam on a series of pivots. Also, for your information, the amount of armor needed to actually effectively block incoming rounds is on the level of stupid. Even if you use weighted blocks, the amount doesn't really change. The fact that HE rounds tend to penetrate armor the deepest (as in deals damage the furthest beyond the surface of the target and not anything inappropriate as some might be thinking) is really dumb because that's what the AI is all equipped with in an infinite supply. First off, don't use belt pumps or alternators. They do what they do at the cost of engine torque. Also using belt pumps for cooling is actually a very poor idea as you can only cool your engine if your engine is running and if it's running hot, then you need to cool your engine. . . .but you need to run your engine to cool it. . . . You also will want to pump air in and exhaust out. I know it seems really redundant, but if you let fluids free roam in pipes, they'll go wherever they want, not where you want them to. So having something as simple as a flow direction valve (the fluid thing with the arrow pointing in one direction) will help force exhaust out and air in. You'll also want to have 1 central transmission from the clutch to the split and then have a gearbox on each end of the split (have them set to shift into reverse for neutral steering). If you have two sets of gear boxes branching out from the split, that can cause issues. Like the power supply for one gets cut or only one side gets damaged and won't shift. I get that it sounds like a non issue if that area gets struck by a round, but if you're able to repair stuff, having multiple gears going to each individual side draws more power for shifting and makes the system more complex. To give a better example, it's like having multiple steam boilers connected to the same fire box. Theoretically, they should all heat up at the same rate, but for whatever reason, one will always be faster than another. For something that big, you may want to go with a 20 cylinder engine as well. It'll guzzle gas like it's going to die tomorrow, but it should give you a little more ompf. But also realize that tank setups are one of the hardest on engines. The amount of friction drag the thing experiences through the drive wheels is incredible and that's just how the game works. If you think you've got a big enough engine for a tank-like vehicle, make it at least 2.3 times bigger to get it to run like a "normal" engine. The 3X1 engines are also really good as they allow for you to slap 8 cylinders onto 1 crankshaft. Lastly, something you should seriously consider, put those one way flow valve, as I mentioned prior, on your exhaust line or fluid filters on your air and exhaust lines. You're making this an amphibious vehicle, meaning it'll be on land and water. Any amount of rough waves could throw water down the intake port for air and then you've got a crippled engine trying to work with water in it. Likewise, if you ever stop your engine water's going to flow into the pipes your exhaust is connected to and into your engine that way. So just for your own sake, put one or the other on your air in and exhaust out pipes. You'd be wise to do the filter on at least your air intake. You have the exhaust right in line to get sucked into your air intake, if you're moving. That'll start damaging the engine and sapping power out of it.
