it would be awesome to see you try integrate a water-mister into the ends of the thrusters to create a plasma trail. The vaporized water would pick up the led lighting pretty well

I was considering all kinds of options for that... but I think ideally it'd be atmospheric spray or a fog machine for the room, rather than something contained in the wings themselves. There's just not enough space to make a proper effect in this particular design:(

Would love if you made a video about 3D designing something that improves something you use in real life. Like documenting the process of taking measurements and then building on it to improve.

Very cool, you could remove the need for the capacitors by using PWM signal to control the LEDs and have the PWM signal adjust in code to ramp down when the trigger is released. This will be much more power efficient and increase your battery life.

The power comes straight from the remote and is shared by the jets as well - to have the leds dimmed with pwm I would have to take a completely different approach to the remote wiring and add another pair of wires to each wing. and additionally, have the arduino listen to the remote state, and generate a pwm dimmed signalover those two new extra wires- way too complex for the same result xD

Fair point but for the sake of battery life I would recommend it. The motors could also work on the same PWM signal and you would get an even better power saving. The PWM signal might also make the sound of the motors different which could be better or worse depending on the goal. To be even fancier I would use ws2812b or similar digital leds and use a digital arduino library to make the leds flicker like 🔥 in response to the throttle position.

Ps here is a quick “gopro edit” teaser I made for a charity exhibition showing a cyberpunk rocket snowboard I made. I used ws2812b leds (3wires) and an arduino to control them to simulate rocket engines behind 3d printed flame 🔥 diffuser. Thanks!! It was quite unusual for me to decide my own design constraints- I think in the long run it’s not the best thing for your skills tho - you will end up designing stuff you already know how to make and omit details that are “difficult”. With someone else’s design you still have the benefit of needing to figure out exactly how to achieve precisely those features, so I think for that reason ill limit my “oc” work :D

You may not see this but I got gotta ask, where and how did you learn how to make stuff like this? Where did you get those cobra buckles for the straps? are those real cobra buckles as in the expensive ones that your customized or are they some other type. Looking for sources for those kind of decent quality.

I don't know the brand name but yes they werent cheap - maybe 20usd each :( so I think they weren't knockoffs in the sense that they are very sturdy :)
