Thanks for being a forward thinking innovator in bass fishing and progressing the sport. I like how you are looking at things from different perspectives and angles. Folks need to give things a chance. You seem genuinely passionate about progressing the sport of bass fishing, and bass boats. Like anything else, depending on your personal budget is what you can afford. Shooting for the top of the line to start out. Quality craftsmanship, pride and ownership coming from the manufacturer is huge now and I feel rare. I feel Jacob Wheeler understands this and is trying to make it better. I can see different models down the road that are quality built, and will fit everyone’s budget.

So listen... thats awesome! I think it's every angler's dream to build and design their own boat. I challenge you, though, to think back to your roots. Your early days in fishing... make something that the average Joe can afford. Not everybody can afford $100-120k boats and it takes the wind out of the sails of so many dreams. Congratulations on where you are in your career. Many of us can only imagine what that's like, but leave us a taste 😎

So don't buy a 100k boat. If your dream is to become a pro and make a living from fishing you are selling yourself short by immediately thinking you have to start with a 100k boat. If you're dream is to own a 100k boat then other life choices have to be made to make that happen. Just the way it is. I dont ever expect to own a brand new boat.

@@nchec326 The point is the financial side is nearly impossible to overcome for a lot of guys. Being the best fisherman isn't enough if you're fishing out of a budget boat and your competition has forward facing sonar, power poles, faster top end, etc.

It's funny how you were talkin about things in the salt water world crossing over to the bass fishing world. First thing I've seen is sea dek. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put carpet in a boat is beyond me. The next thing I wouldn't be surprised is a motor change. Saltwater boats have been using Suzuki 4 years. They're more reliable due to the harsh saltwater environment and they have a better warranty. Almost repowered mind with 1 but went with a Mercury mainly because of price and availability

Agree. Joe was a good man. I bought HS out of bankruptcy from Genmar in 2010. I wanted to bring the bass boats back out then along with Earl, but he was tied up in a non-compete. We later sold HS to what is now HCB

@@cocksby9063 it does not pay out to build only one bass boat. The idea is to create one the masses are willing to buy and if its over $100K most can’t afford it is the point made above. Keep it in the $50-$60K range and it will sell depending on design, features, ride, etc..

HydraSports was a sister company of Stratos Boats, the predecessor of Triton Boats, which were built by boat racer/builder, Earl Bentz. I hope you offer a foam floor option, as Xpress Boats has in SeaDek. That, along with built in electronics units would be nice, but can you solve the Billion Dollar Bass Boat Problem- -can you figure out a way to eliminate the troling motor HEAD from the hull cap? Do THAT and you'll become a Go-Zillionaire!

HydraSports was it's own company based in Nashville, TN by Joe Reeves. Earl worked there and then later ran the business. It sold to OMC. Earl left and started Stratos and Javelin separately...and then sold them to OMC. He later started Triton and sold it to Brunswick. It later sold to White River. Now he has Caymus boats. Agree with the trolling motor suggestion, disagree with the Go-Zillionaire.
