I Built the SpongeBob Boatmobile in Real Life!

After we shot the original test day, where we drove from robert’s house to shell city, I discovered that we didn’t have good footage for big sections in the middle of it. I weighed my options, and even though I knew it’d be more work, I made the choice to shoot two new scenes to replace the ones we missed, while keeping the mileage and the beginning & ending sections of our original test drive the same. Those scenes are at Venice Beach and the Hollywood Sign. If you want to know why I made that choice, I gave more detail in the description, but at the end of the day my goal was to give you the most authentic boatmobile driving experience possible, and I think we accomplished that! By the end of filming the extra scenes, we’d actually driven over 200 miles in the boatmobile. I’m telling you this because I believe it’s the right thing to do, and on my channel, I never want you to have to question if what you just watched is real. I will ALWAYS let you know if something in one of my videos isn’t the truth, because being as authentic as I can is my #1 goal, and that level of transparency is really important to me. Here’s a few ridiculous quirks you could do to this boatmobile. 1: Get a bumper sticker that says “I brake for sea urchins” or “Don’t ask me about my day” 2. Write the gear selector’s text in Korean. When SpongeBob tries to drive the boat to deliver pizza with Squidward he got so nervous when he’s ordered to reverse that he read the gear selector in that language.

An option is to get new suspension. It's probably a lot lighter than it was stock and getting suspension designed for It's current weight would help. There are a lot of car people that would love to help with this.

The message at the end of this video was really touching ngl. I feel that people miss that aspect of nostalgia sometimes. We're quick to feel sad that we can never have those times that we hold so dear back, that we forget how it helped make us who we are in this moment.
