For the next video, I would love to see some comparison footage to see what the stabilization quality looks like handheld vs. with the extra weight of the rig vs. with a shoulder rig to see what quality of stabilization we can reasonably expect out of each. The rig looks cool, but I'd really like to see it being used!

@calebhoenshell28655 жыл бұрын
Dude. I've been saying this to all of my friends for so long. 1) There is a difference between "shaky" and "handheld". Handheld in cinema is commonly done on the shoulder with proper balancing of the camera. It gives nice movement to the shot, but it isn't shaky or jittery. Like you say, it's about the weight of the camera and how it's balanced. Shaky footage is what you get when you try to handhold a dslr by itself. 2) Gimbals are really cool, but the look they deliver is sort of like a little bit of handheld mixed with steadicam. There isn't the weight to it that a steadicam offers. It's an interesting look, but overused I would say. Good handheld footage is hard to get, but it looks so nice when done properly!

Love it all, but powering it all from one battery is especially brilliant! One battery to monitor, and one battery to buy several copies of. Legendary. And presumably, with the right setup, you can also power that via AC. I'm no pro, but because I am a keen amateur I often shoot some corporate talking heads for my employer and the odd client, mostly execs with super packed calendars. I often have to chain several people and I just sit and watch that battery drain as people do various takes makes me super anxious - knowing that they have to nail it before I'm out of battery because they won't be available again for another week or two. Now to try and find all this stuff in my country - or some supplier that actually ships here :(

I agree with Rigs. I never cared for 1 cause i felt it would defeat purpose of lightweight with my Sony A6500.. but the versatility it gave is worth it and to be honest im able to hold my camera more stable at handheld with the handles i added. I barely use the gimbal now cause im loving the hand held look. Everything is Quick detach, in order to switch from gimbal and handheld..
@nobbystyles48075 жыл бұрын
you can also lock gimbles out as well. ive done it on a ronin sc and it works pretty well so you can get a more hand held feel at different heights etc and of course you only need to tilt the lcd so its pretty easy to do.

The Quick Release System is by Manfrotto. Every one of the following rigs also have a lens holder to supoort the heavy lens + Speedbooster. *Shoulder Rig:* Camera sits right ontop of my shoulder. I watch a second screen, mounted with a flat HDMI cable. The monitor is from Neewer. Pretty NoName but good enough for focusing. Thank you for putting together this kit and giving your use cases for including each piece. Really good ideas in here. I used ideas from other of your vids, but I just found this one. I especially like the battery “sled”/module for the NP/F battery. I went with a full-on V-lock plate from Juicebox and 95Wh battery, which is honestly probably overkill for my purposes. Thus a question: What sort of runtime are you getting from a battery like you’re showing in your specific rig? I’m also using an Atomos Shinobi but with an A6000 (for now). I feel pretty confident I’d at least get similar runtimes to whatever you get.

All very cool but the thing that makes dslr shooting unwieldy for a lot of us is sound. If we're working solo (and for a lot of jobs and/or creative projects, we need to make it economically feasible), we'll need decent mics (either a shotgun or lav or both) feeding a preamp or a separate recorder. A complete rig really has to include the ability to do that. For most job/projects, I'm not sure this setup is preferable to the Canon C100. Thoughts?

Love your videos! Simple questions: in your opinion, would you know after 3 years still recommend the Fuji X-T3 or a BMD 4K? I want to take advantage of a number of zeiss and Nikor lenses that I have along with other lenses I will buy to create more cine style video compared to my Sony XDCam PXW-X160. Do you feel that using a Ninja V is overkill to record video with a BMD 4K?

Cool setup man! Love seeing different rigs. QUESTION: Do you know of a way to power the Ninja V or Shinobi via the battery eliminator you have on the back but not plug it into the wall? I.e. us a d-tap or other 12v battery power solution.
@teodorolopez48484 жыл бұрын
wondering if you ever figured out a way to power your shinobi. I saw a dummy npf battery to d-tap but the cable is a little over $100. Wondering if there are any other ways to do so? Wish Atomos had added a DC connection to the monitor. Unless I'm missing something.

What was your reason for choosing the Ansso over the Power Junkie? Dont they both only have 1 DC port? Sorry I missed the answer somewhere. Edit: After taking another look at this setup, I am assuming the Power Junkie cannot power the Fuji by USB or the USB-C port.

Well done. I built the rig for my xt3 exactly at the same time and used your idea with the NATO rail. However, I write here in a completely different matter. Power supply !!!. A large NP-F battery fulfills several functions in your system, of course it powers everything but also lowers the center of gravity and makes the whole more predictable. Well, enough praise. My question and maybe the idea for another video is to power the camera and monitor from powerbank. Today, almost everyone has it. Do you have any experience in this matter, especially in the power supply from powerbank of an external monitor / recorder? I am talking about this topic because I did not have and never used the NP-F batteries before purchasing the Ninja V.
