Hi Jordan! Welcome back! I started watching you when you were on XDA's channel waaaay back when, and I followed you to your TWIL channel as well as to here (unless this channel used to be TWIL?). I'm glad you're doing well. My question to /for you is what's your take/opinion on the Apple Silicon Macs? I have two of them and absolutely adore them to pieces. Did you end up getting one? If so which one? Don't worry about having gone MIA... I know the feeling of burn out... I know this isn't quite the same but I'm an avid anime fan and I used to watch like 10 series an airing season, but then the stuff started to not appeal to me as much... I still love it all, but I had to slow down. Do what makes you happy. See you around!
@JordanKeyes2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, TWIL was a different channel, but thanks for sticking around, man! I made a few videos about the M1 Macs, specifically the M1 Mac mini and the Macbook Air. I even upgraded to one of the new 24" M1 iMacs. Amazing power. I only got the 8Gb Macbook Air, and I keep hitting the RAM limit, so upgrading to 16Gb would be a recommendation from me... Lol, speaking of binging series, I've been doing quite a bit of that on Netflix. Korean sci/fi, zombie stuff, just amazing.

Welcome back! Glad you took a break. Everyone burns out, especially right now. I went through similar. With people at work leaving and workload gets piled on to mine, slowly it becomes way too much. Gotta take a break from everything. A healthy mind and body is the first priority. And it's always nice to pickup a sport and go out and socialize with people. I took time off from work and just relax and started play tennis again, it's very refreshing to be out there just to enjoy everything, just taking it day by day.

You know, it was a very wise decision to give this chanel your name, because you can do whatever you want here, from tech to sports, from lifestyle to clothes, from kids toys to pet accessories. Hi Jordan! I know this is a old video but wanted to share my experiences here too in case it helps you and others. I had a burnout in late May 2021. Attempted to take on a IT management position. It didn't work out and I ended up jobless and jumping jobs from late May to late September. Between those months, we ran through our emergency funds and started to sell our belongings. I felt everything. Guilty, stress, anxiety, depression because of the uncertainty and the unknown. I felt like I was a poor example for my family. I had to seek help from a therapist and did so without insurance or any funds. My therapist was able to diagnose me quick but also help open me up to new things. I picked up new hobbies even though I was jobless with no money coming in. Fishing had restored a part of me. Catching my first fish made me feel that I could do anything. I went back to job searching again and now I've been with this new job for almost a year. I still have lost the motivation to do research or learn new things in tech on my spare time. I think you made a good decision to open up your channel to new things!

I was definitely obsessed with Linux back in the day. Like so many things, once it becomes a part of your job, doing it as a side hobby becomes a bit cumbersome. I was a Windows sysadmin / MS programmer when I started TWIL, and in ~2012 I made the jump to Linux sysadmin, then Java/Groovy/Grails/Ruby/Rails programmer, building stuff for the cloud, so spending like 90% of my time at a terminal.

Unfortunately I burned out with work, had family situation appear and had to have some time off work (longer than I expected). Just one of those things, you have to look after your self and if that means no longer releasing to the channel, thats fine 🙂 Hopfully you are all well and things calmed down.
@JAF302 жыл бұрын
I don't mind that your not trying to keep up with the giant steps of small tech improvements :) Something good might be to review the tech devices you and your family are get and then do a follow up review after a couple of months on the good and bad. Maybe even a video or two on the most common issue you ran into and how to deal/fix/get around it

I found your channel while looking for the m3d printer review after seeing a used one here locally for cheap. Didnt realize it was so old heh but i still like the form factor thinking about taking a 3d printer into a van life situation for functional parts and this seems like it could be it. Anyway Intersting about the disc golf, I grew up near a course. How about 3d printed discs? Maybe some weights on the end to make them fly better? Some hollow ones that could cut through the wind. Or some ones with built in LED lights. I dont think any pla disc would survive hitting a tree come to think of it, and there was lots of trees in the course i grew up around anyway, being cut out from a bunch of woods in a gulley and you'd hear the sound of discs hitting trees cosntantly. I didnt play ever other than walk our familys dogs through there, but did start to pick it up before i left. Maybe a drone golf game, where you gotta fly your drone through a bunch of osbstacles and into a net or goal of some kind, perhaps through the forest. Or make each drone like a club, that can only go a certain distance and you gotta fly it to the best spot before it goes down. Drone golf!
