Since you have been to several places (main destinations) for tourists, I'd rather recommend you to explore the northeastern part of Thailand such as Khon Kaen, Udon and Nongkhai then go across the Mekong River to also visit Laos. Enjoy Thai food and have a pleasant stay wherever you choose to visit.

I can highly recommend Kanchanaburi, there are both some very good wildlife sanctuaries as well as some cultural and historical places to see and the nature there is breathtakingly beautiful. If you share the Thai fondness of waterfalls, there are many to be seen. And if you drive a motorcycle, there are some of the best motorcycle roads in Thailand as well.

I spent a few days in Kanchanaburi a couple of months ago. Some really amazing nature over there. Erawan Falls was shut down due to storm damage so we went to Huay Maekamin waterfall instead. Spectacular place.

its a simple process of elimination on where to settle long term in Thailand. i am a relatively young retiree so... For me i needed easy access to international airport / not a big city / easy access to good healthcare / safe / not super touristy. then the things that make my hobbies easy = cycling and mountain biking / tennis / road and trail running / swimming and beach. then a wide range of 50thb lunch and dinner options... So i chose Phuket : yep a bit touristy BUT i am in a quiet enough area more towards the north of the island that its easy to ignore them and they tend not to engage in my hobbies so its a fair enough trade off. i dont party or drink booze. my set up works really well for me. we got lots of cool trails to go and get natured on!
