I can relate soooo much to what you mean about not getting your hopes up and not totally relaxing until you give birth. I had a couple miscarriages and when I got pregnant with my daughter I felt like I was holding my breath the entire pregnancy. I wasn't able to just be happy and relax until she was in my arms safe and sound and it was EXHAUSTING! There are so many things that can happen and go wrong but 99% of them are completely unpreventable and stressing yourself out about them isn't going to change a dang thing! Congratulations on your little miracle and hope you the very best in your pregnancy journey!

I have followed you and Charles from Charles’ post surgery days, went further back to catch up on everything... and now this!! +Allie , I can’t tell you just how truly excited I am for the both of you!!! ♥️ There are just no words to describe this! It’s honestly surreal and amazing and completely beautiful! I can’t wait to continue watching as you and Charles journey down this New Path; all the new firsts of many things and emotions along the way. I love you both immensely, and I just wanted you to know that the best days EVER in your life (lives) are just around the corner! Journal your thoughts; your experiences, because there will come a day, that you may try to recall even the smallest and simplest of days, and those memories will be off in the far distant corners your thoughts, and to look back in your writings, those small and simple memories will once again be remembered, and it’s those moments that can be so amazing!

Congrats Allie!!!! So happy for you!! I have a 3 month baby girl and I can't put words to all the fun and love there is in our home. It took us 4 years to get pregnant and I went through 2 rounds of IVF, my favourite part is when she wakes up in the morning and gives me her very first smile of the day, so pure, so kind, so full of love , ...I never knew life could be this good! I enjoyed every single day of my pregnancy!! specially the third trimester and I had a 3h labor and entirely natural delivery at the hospital, so happy of how things turned out! Enjoy!

I was told it was highly unlikely I would ever fall pregnant (due to medical complications), and if I did, it wouldn’t survive past 12 weeks. After losing one when I was 19 at 6 weeks, It kind of solidified in my heart and mind that it was never going to happen. I wasn’t on contraception either, after having a small stroke at 22 because of it, and we certainly weren’t trying, because it wasn’t going to happen, right? I also have super irregular periods, sometimes going months without them, so that made my chances even less, because tracking ovulation days was near impossible. One morning I woke up and just had this unwavering need to take a pregnancy test. I had taken one 2 weeks before because I had to have an MRI done, and it was negative, so why should this one be positive? I too, had a faulty one at first, then I took a lot second one and it had a very faint second line, so I went to the shops and got a few digital ones. “Pregnant 1-2 weeks” (which is insanely early, pretty much the actual conception period) came across the screen. I nearly fainted, then came the string of bleep words because I was so overwhelmed and confused and shocked and happy and amazed and suddenly super scared. It’s a feeling that I’d only ever had once before, when I was 19. Words can not fully describe the feeling you get when you want a baby and are told your odds are low, then to fall pregnant naturally. I’m getting shivers writing this! I was pregnant for 10 months (pregnancy is generally 9.5 months, but if baby is overdue, generally you’ll go to 10 months), and it was intense, being aware of it for the full 10 months (give or take a week). It was the most intense time, because you’re so aware as to what’s going on, and because you’re new to it, you don’t know what’s going on. Your brain takes small things and runs rampant, and you panic over every little move or lack there of. While being aware is important for both you and the baby, it can really mess with your head. Be aware that prenatal depression is a very real thing, but it’s never spoken about. I’d never heard of it until I was going through it, and it was hard. Thankfully, I didn’t get postnatal depression, but be aware of prenatal depression, and if you start feeling it come on, see the doctor about it and let them know so they can try and help in some way. I found talking about all my worries with someone who worked in the field (which happened to be my mum - midwife of 40 years), really helped. Don’t keep your emotions bottled in, they will effect the baby and the baby will pick up on if you’re stressed, and that can be not good for them. You’re doing amazingly already Allie, and you’re going to have a lot of questions throughout this whole stage of your life, don’t ever be afraid to ask. And don’t listen to the 5 million opinions everyone else has about your pregnancy/parenting. Listen to your body and listen to your heart/instincts. You’ll be okay. None of us are perfect parents 😉❤️ I’m writing this while feeding my almost 8 week old baby girl 😍 Also, I strongly recommend listening to Happy Mum, Happy Baby by Giovanni Fletcher on Apple podcasts. She’s a mum of 3 and she speaks to mothers and fathers about their experiences and pregnancies and expectations vs realities. I learned a lot from that, even before I was pregnant.
@valek7700
@valek7700 5 жыл бұрын
So you listened to that, even before? Were you thinking about adoption or did you have a feeling it might work? What were your biggest learnings?
@chloemostard8767
@chloemostard8767 5 жыл бұрын
Valele Kalele I have severe reproductive damage from endometriosis and another similar condition (one of the most severe cases in the Southern Hemisphere). Having a stroke made it all worse too. My body wasn’t viable to support life. It wasn’t something I wanted to believe, but I needed to be realistic too. I always hoped I would have my own children naturally, and I have two amazing step daughters, but we have definitely talked about adoption and fostering too. I would like to still do that in the future. The most important thing I learned, was to trust my doctors and nurses with information they were giving me (and my mum who is a nurse), and to not let everyone’s ‘theories’ effect me, especially if they aren’t medically trained. Everyone has an opinion, and those opinions can destroy a person, especially one who has an insane amount of hormones running through their body, that they can’t control. I also learned that I have to listen to my heart and trust myself. It’s normal to be anxious about pregnancy and early parenthood, but trusting yourself, is not only good for you, but it projects onto the baby, both in the womb, and outside of it. I didn’t have a wonderful delivery, my body wouldn’t labour (I had 1 month of false labour) so I ended up with an emergency caesarean, and it’s been tough since, but I would do it all again. So yeah, just listen to yourself and particularly medical professionals. If people are saying ‘this means this,’ or ‘do this to induce labour’ speak to the doctor or nurse about it and ask their opinion on it, because a lot of the ‘wives tales’ are dangerous to both mum and Bub. There’s a reason the mortality rate used to be much higher. And also, don’t let people push you around or make you feel guilty, put them in their place when necessary, for your own sanity. I stopped protecting people’s feelings over my own, and it’s the best thing you can do. If you are being honest with someone, that’s all that should matter. Obviously don’t go out of your way and be mean, just be upfront and honest

Congratulations Allie! Those feelings you were having the first couple months can be normal. My husband and I are expecting and will be 24 weeks tomorrow. We only had a 1% chance of getting pregnant naturally yet that's how we got pregnant. I had those worries until I started to feel this little guy kick and sometimes I still worry something will happen.

Yaaaas. I’m here for everything that’s in store. My dad had stage 4 hodgkins when he was 27 and had a lot of chemo and a lot of radiation and the doctors basically said him and my mom probably won’t be able to have kids anymore (they already had my two oldest brothers at the time) so my mom went off birth control and then had 4 of us after that. I’m happy you guys were able to conceive naturally. Love y’all 💕

I went in for my first sonogram at 10 weeks and seen that gummy bear little baby and didn’t see a flutter spot for a heartbeat or movement. As I sat there screaming on the inside the lady slowly told me there was no heartbeat. I was beyond devastated and pretty much shut down. I had the mindset of “since I’ve had a perfectly fine pregnancy before this one nothing will happen”. Terribly wrong. So when we finally conceived afterwards I was cautious about EVERYTHING! So yes I understand your scariness. Every women should be. The human body is crazy and can do amazing yet scary things.

I am SO incredibly happy for you!! Enjoy every moment. Every second. I have a healthy son, and got pregnant easily with him, and had no complications. Sadly, after him I went on to have three concurrent miscarriages when we were ready to add to our family again. The reality that I may never experience pregnancy again is so heartbreaking. I always tell women, pregnancy goes so quickly and you will miss feeling that connection with your little one only you and he/she have while they are growing in your belly. It’s life changing. I’m praying for you and little one, and can’t wait to see him or her when they arrive!! A true blessing. ❤️❤️

I am so happy for Charles and you! Try to enjoy every minute of your pregnancy. My wife and I were married in 1993, found out that we were pregnant late in 1995 and lost him (he had some genetic abnormalities) in 1996. We had to go through artificial insemination (AI), but conceived again (twice) and had two boys (now 18 and 15) and in 2007, we found out that we were pregnant again without the aid of AI (this time a girl who is now 11). Prayers for a happy and successful pregnancy. I will greatly love following Charles' and your journey. I look forward to watching more of your videos.

EVERYTHING you are saying totally makes sense and is completely natural especially in your situation! I'm so happy for you and your husband and sister and her husband. I'm especially happy that you didn't have to go through the hardships of IVF or something like that. You guys are really fortunate.

It’s such a wild experience! Joy, nerves, more joy, excitement, nerves, anxiety 😂 It took us 4 years and many interventions but we are currently 20 weeks pregnant with a little girl. Hope all goes well for you! And it’s true what they say to try and remember the little things, write them down! From how sick you were or what weird pains you had...it’ll be interesting to look back on one day :)

Its so exciting!! You should definitely disprove Charles and his claims of pregnancy cravings lol OR fill us in on what you are already craving. I think my only question for you is what has been your biggest change/adjustment since finding out? You've shown in the vlog changing coffee for tea, and of course drinking alcohol, but is there anything else?

You don't have to defend your feelings about your pregnancy and whether you shared what with whom. Sharing with family is the best thing because you're right, you never know what can happen but it's good to have support of family whether it's a good situation or a bad. Many blessings to you, baby trippy and your family!
