• India has promised the world that it would go net zero by the year 2070. What this means is by 2070, India would put out no more greenhouse gases than it can absorb back. • Compensatory Afforestation Fund Act, 2016 established a National Compensatory Afforestation Fund under the Public Account of India and State Compensatory Afforestation Fund under the Public Account of each state. These funds will be regulated by State and National CAMPA. • There are 24 department-related standing committees (DRSCs). Each of these committees have 31 members - 21 from Lok Sabha and 10 from Rajya Sabha. These members are to be nominated by the Speaker of Lok Sabha or the Chairman of Rajya Sabha respectively. The term of office of these committees does not exceed one year.
