This was less of a chess battle and more of a chess boring diplomatic meeting with both sides coming to a mutual understanding. You're part of chess history now lads. The part of history people skip to get to the good stuff.
@karnewarrior
@karnewarrior 2 жыл бұрын
The meeting progressed with both kings having a dance off, and it was decided by the knight and both pawns who were acting as judges that they were evenly skilled. The Black King and the White King then met in the middle and did that meme handshake where it's super manly.

I imagined that it was a duel between the two kings (as opposed to a diplomatic meeting). Both Kings sorta circled one another and maybe tapped swords a few times, but decided to agree to a draw as neither wanted to commit to an attack.

This was exemplary for our politicians about how a real war should go. "There's quite an army behind you." "Yeah." "Looks dangerous." "Yeah." "Let's call peace again?" "Yeah."
@Zogerpogger
@Zogerpogger 2 жыл бұрын
In Medieval Europe sometimes wars were decided by two rival royals/nobles fighting a duel instead of making their subjects kill one another. This was rare though as these royals/nobles would usually rather let their subjects kill one another and usually probably thought they had a better chance of victory by using their armies. Another factor that made battles more likely than duels was the fact that many nobles hoped to defeat other nobles and capture them, as huge amounts of money could be made from ransom. Common soldiers were usually just mercilessly killed unfortunately. Enjoy my unsolicited history-nerd-vomit!

If you just want peace, why the fuck do you start war ? do you realize that in your example one politician, pushed for war, and then saw the opposing army and realised, oh fuck it was a bad idea, what we will get out of this is not worth dying for, and hten just stopped everything.
@mayo2877
@mayo2877 2 жыл бұрын
@@benjaminparent4115 You will have to suspend disbelief to understand the meaning of their example. This is not how wars go. This is how they should end. By not starting. The exact narrative as outlined above is less important than the idea it is meant to represent. If everyone starting conflict would realize that human life is more valuable, there would be no war. If you need a better example: Imagine two politicians sitting at home thinking about starting a war because they both want something the other won't give them. Then it occurs to them that they will have to sacrifice human lives for it, and they change their minds. That's what happened in the example above. It doesn't matter if they are sitting at home watching TV or arm wrestling on an alien planet while the army behind them cheers them on. It's not about the exact situation. It's about the thought. It's just not worth it.
@benjaminparent4115
@benjaminparent4115 2 жыл бұрын
@@mayo2877 Yeah no the example above even if you suspend your disbelief, is more about nuclear deterence, and maintaining large for the sake of peace than butterfly feeling about life being too precious to waste on war. It is an unrealistic assumption that everyone will be able to field an equal army, to deter everyone else, it forget that inequality in this imperfect, will always lead to one country being weaker, or that people can allie to overwhelm an opponent with little danger. It forget one of the most essential rule in warfare, never a pick a war if you have no significant advantage that make you confident in your ability to win.
