What I love about Grand Seiko is that they have a story around their watches and incorporate nature as a theme into their dials. They are not just a watch but a time piece that takes your imagination to the creation envisioned by the designer!

There’s no question GS is passionate about what they’re doing. You can see it in what they are putting out, from the spring drive, the beautiful dials, the colors, etc. And each year, it seems like they improve upon themselves. I could go on and on. What a great brand.

I remember seeing a short video of the mechanical bird bath and I was stunned… for multiple reasons. - Firstly, stunned by the mechanical wizardry of it all. It’s a creative masterpiece that should be in an museum. I’m a Mechanical Engineer and I can hardly imagine the complexity of it all. - Secondly, I was stunned how something such as this piece got so little coverage and attention. It’s a showcase of human ingenuity and imagination. We obsess over a green and black bezel with (gasp!) the crown on the opposite side, yet ignore true masterpieces.

What I love about Grand Seiko now is that they inspire me like no other watches. Forget about all the stories and dials and complications. It's a humble work, they don't talk much but create one amazing piece after another. Maybe, someday I would be able to afford them and I also know that I can walk into their store and can get one of them instead of returning empty handed. And then some woke Rolex hypebeast would think I am painting destroyer anarchist.

What an amazing perspective into the dedication and passion that goes into making the timepieces we all love. The creation of timeless works of art and function to capture our time in the current throw-away culture reminds me of why I collect/wear/and eventually pass down these pieces. The humility by the GS team in their award acceptance is just inspiring.

There is a story during the automatic chronograph competition when Zenith did the press release of the first El Primero. Seiko president Hattori was there and dropped by the booth and congratulated Zenith on their achievement. He did not mention the imminent release of the first production 6139 watches that were going on sale about a month later in Japan. There is a lot of humility and class in that response.

Always a pleasure to have ones preconceptions and prejudices challenged in a positive, life affirming way. Despite all the marketing gloss, there is real passion in the watch industry and many of the creations are very far from rational! I'm never likely to have a bird bath automaton in my from room, but boy am I glad it exists! GS is a crazy passionate company, far smaller than most would think, but hidden behind respectful, humble, Japanese reserve. Unusual today and I like that.

I think that when many of us look at watches we assume they were done by robots. Questioning the reasoning why this watches date window is 1mm this way, not at the 6 position ot why the lugs are too long and a myriad of other personal nit-picking things. We forget that there are artist working in tandem with engineers trying to create a vision and follow an ethos. I wish more stories come out on why certain watches were designed a certain way. I really dont think my Omiwatari looks like the path of the gods but I enjoy the story behind it. Some watches were obviously designed for mass appeal, looking at you pelagos 39, but I would love to hear from the teams making creative works.

As a subscriber, the clickbait title doesn't bother me, other videos here and at Watchfinder have already convinced me that Mr. Morgan will provide relevant and interesting content. If the clickbait works to obtain and keep viewers (hence the "bait") then it has done its job. If one feels deceived by clickbait, then it's on them. Much like the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" videos shouldn't be judged by their title. Unfortunately, the cogs on the marketing machine grind ever onward. Keep on keepin' on, Andrew.

Please improve the audio quality high pitch syllables in this video are for some reason very sharp. Otherwise it's very nice video.

And I still will never even consider a grand Seiko for a second since I consider them utterly overpriced and dull
