I’m a recreational track sprinter. Using a Freelap timer I’ve hit a 10m split of 1.03s, that’s 9.7ms and I think I’ll crack 10ms soon. Would that be quick enough for a winger at club level?

@@TheRugbyTrainerTV Great video and solid fundamentals for spring warm ups to get everything firing and ready to find that explosive transition in game. One thing I try to work on is my head position. My chin goes up when "in flight". Same for you slightly. Head tilted back changes should position and then the rest of the chain follows. He kept his chin a little more tucked (solid neck line and fully engaged) so his momentum was always moving in the intended direction - forward. The only other thing I like to add is a jogging start (5 metres), and maybe a slight change of direction. Additional sprint movements to replicate games.

I always find GPS results baffling - they don't add up. He runs a 10.29 100 metres - that's a lot faster than any rugby player - yet his top speed is supposedly significantly slower than a lot of players on your list. How do that work?

I'd say give Jamal 4 Weeks to train on a Rugby Pitch and his speed GPS would shoot up! as he's not use to running on 4g/Grass. he has also got my boots on, again not use to it. so 4 Weeks of Running on 4g/grass he would be hitting that 11 for sure

There's a lot of anecdotal bollocks about rugby players running this or that for 100 metres, but I'd bet my house on them all running at least half a second slower if you put them on a track and FAT timed them. Sprint times is one of the most bullshitted about things in the world. The one thing they all have in common is there's not a shred of proof. I'll take his 'Power of 10' 10.59 over any and every rugby player in the world....

GPS is super inaccurate. It once "recorded" me going 44km/h in a 100m race. That would've got me a sub 10s. I only ran like 11.3 and my top end speed is about 37km/h. If you want accurate splits you need either slowmotion video or chest level timing gates.
